We have some rather interesting news now for those of you that are familiar with Panasonic’s rugged and semi-rugged Toughbook lineup, as the company has just launched its new Toughbook CF-53 model. What’s more is that we also have the specs, price and release info.

As Sean Hollister over at engadget.com recently noted, the 14-inch Toughbook 53 – which weighs just 5.6 pounds – comes with Intel’s new Core i3 or i5 Sandy Bridge processor, a larger touchpad than previous models, a spill-resistant keyboard and a USB 3.0 port.

You will be able to pick up the Core i3 model – which comes with a shock-resistant removable hard drive cartridge and a battery that lasts for six hours – with 2GB of RAM for $1,599. Although we don’t have a specific release date, we do know that it will be available sometime in August.

Meanwhile, the $1,899 version will provide you with a 2.5GHz Core i5-2520M processor, a 7200RPM hard drive, 4GB of RAM and a Li-ion battery that lasts for 10 hours. This model is said to be available as from June. There will also be a $2,449 version available sometime in July.

The $2,449 version adds a Panasonic CircuLumin polarized anti-glare touch screen display and a backlit keyboard. Consumers also have the option of 4G LTE mobile broadband with the Panasonic Toughbook Cf-53 notebook. Other specs include VGA, HDMI and Wi-Fi b/g/n.

You can read more about the Panasonic Toughbook Cf-53 semi-rugged notebook over on the engadget.com website. Have you ever owned a Toughbook?
