It’s that time of year again when companies start taking advantage of the festive season in order to boost the sales of their products by lowering their prices and offering special deals. Nintendo is one company that likes to find different ways to boost their sales all year round. This year the price of their Wii console has fallen to an all-time low and will now be available for just £89.

As far as we know the offer is only available at Asda, one of the leading supermarkets in the UK, and is part of a ‘Wii Family Edition’ deal that will give customers the newly configured white Wii console plus two games, which are Wii Party and Wii Sports, one controller and a nunchuck. The offer is being advertised in newspapers as of yesterday and comes after MCV, the trading magazine, had reported that retailers would be dropping the console to as little as £79 to boost sales for the season.

The new consoles are almost identical to the first edition versions except rather than sitting vertically, they sit horizontally and they no longer support backwards compatibility with GameCube accessories or software, unlike the original versions. As MCV explains Asda are also offering discounts on several chart games including Just Dance 3, Kinect Sports: Season Two, F1 2011 and Dead Island.

If you do not already own a Nintendo Wii console then now is the time to get one. The deal offers great value for money and the Wii Family Edition will be perfect for finding things to do while surrounded by loved ones in the upcoming holidays, as the games appeal to people of all ages with a range of interests. What do you think of this deal? Will you be getting a Wii Console this Christmas?

The Dragon Quest X release date will fall some time in 2012, and today we got confirmation that the game will be released for the Wii U as an online RPG, which was during a Square Enix press conference.

Dragon Quest X will be coming to both the Wii and newer “U” version releasing next year. The gamer will be able to form a party and be with other players in an online world, which will be developed by a Square Enix team. This is a big change for the popular game, and it will be interesting to see how the game develops especially considering the use of internal developers for Quest X.

The Nintendo Wii U will allow for new games and existing Wii games to play on the new hardware, but Dragon Quest X will not only allow for the Wii version to be played but also a new and improved Wii U version. The Wii was never known for great graphics but having improved visuals on the Wii U version will be a must for Nintendo fans that also love great graphics.

Another nice touch is the ability to play in the online world with both Wii and Wii U players, also the limited 3DS support will be welcomed by owners of that system. We should see a Dragon Quest X beta after Hori said some players could get a chance of playing the game early. You can expect the roles of character designer, composer and designer to be played by Akira Toriyama, Koichi Sugiyama and Yuji Hori.

Would you want to be one of the players testing the game? We’ll update you as we get a more specific Dragon Quest X release date and beta details. For more details keep you eyes on the Square Enix Twitter page, press site, or our Twitter and Facebook page as seen below.

So far this years E3 has provided us with some exciting revelations and one of the most exciting of all was Nintendo’s announcement of their brand new next generation console the Wii U. the news we have provided you with about the console so far had just been speculation until it was officially announced yesterday, for example many rumors surrounded the name of the console.

Though the new console means something different from the others, the company may find its uniqueness poses a potential threat to sales. This is an opinion according to an article PCWorld. The article suggests that the Wii U is so different from past consoles that consumers may be reluctant to buy one for fear of not knowing exactly what is capable of the ‘bizarre’ device.

The main issue is the shear amount of features and functions the Wii U has. Its features include a 6.2” touchscreen display, a stylus for high fidelity sketching and a pair of cameras which give the device augmented reality functions. That’s just the controller.

Where the Wii kept things simple the Wii U may be seen as over complicated in a bid to be different and attract customers, which could result in the opposite effect. You can read the full article by clicking the link above for more details about why Nintendo may face problems shifting these consoles.

Do you agree that Nintendo could struggle to sell the Wii U due to its complicated functions?

James Bond is a pretty cool guy and not all games based on 007 have carried the love to gaming systems, so the reviews of Goldeneye for Nintendo Wii matter to fans of the franchise. The 2010 version of GoldenEye 007 was released in the U.S. this week and will be in Europe tomorrow.

We wanted to give our readers a review roundup for Goldeneye on the Wii, which includes detailed reviews from some of the best gaming sites. First up is IGN, a well-known site that gives Goldeneye (Wii) an outstanding 9/10 and concludes that the game is more than a cash-in for Activision, saying its one of the best games of the year for Wii. Read IGN’s full review.

Game Spy found a few bugs during their review but still states that GoldenEye is one of the Wii’s better first-person shooters. They recommend that you get your controls sorted first, read their full review.

Joystiq rates their games out of five stars, and gave Goldeneye on the Wii four stars. The reviewer also pointed to the control system problems, and said that many options will let a gamer find one that’s best for them. The online multiplayer mode was welcomed for the Wii, and certainly brings the game up-to-date. Read Joystiq’s review.

Have a read of the three detailed reviews above, and let us know if you agree with their opinions. The “Conflict Mode Video” may have been disappointing for GoldenEye 007, but it now seems that the game is a hit and the control system should be your first focus. Will you be buying Goldeneye on the Nintendo Wii?

Last month we heard release dates for a few Nintendo games, which included Disney’s Epic Mickey getting a Wii release some time during the holiday season. Today we can confirm that the exact release date has been set for November 30, 2010.

CS Monitor has reported out a few more details about Epic Mickey, a game that sees you guide the Disney character around a world darker than Mickey is normally used to. The only weapons you will have are paint thinner and a paintbrush, which you use to destroy those that get in your path and to create new objects.

Disney wants to re-launch the icon, as we know the cute and cuddly cartoon, and turn him into a warrior fighting in a “cemetery of faded cartoon icons”. We love the idea of Epic Mickey, and it seems gamers of all background share that love.

You can see the Epic Mickey trailer on ew.com, which gives us the impression that this game is a cross between Disney and Super Mario Galaxy. The controls with the Wii should be fun, and lets hope they have Donald in the game. What characters would you like to see in this dark world? Will you be buying Epic Mickey?
