Beijing Olympics boost Nintendo Wii Fit sales

August 13, 2008 by Peter

It has been a few months since we were seeing high sales of the Wii Fit, but since the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Nintendo has seen a rise in the video games sales. Over the last seven days sales have jumped by 13 percent for the Wii Fit, the game has now occupied the top spot on four different occasions.

Fourteen weeks ago when the game was first launched people were having problem trying to get hold of the motion-sensitive board and game. Many of us wanted to become involved in the new fitness game. Wii Fit helped players improve their balance fitness level and strength.

It is thought that the start of the Olympics in Beijing is a major factor for sales increases of the game. A number of other titles for the Wii have also seen sales increases, these include Big Beach Sports and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

I am now starting to feel a little guilty, as my Balance Board is stuck in the corner collecting dust. I am having trouble finding the time to get myself fit again; I bet there are thousands of other Balance Boards doing the same thing.

Nintendo Wii Fit: Collecting dust or used daily?

August 6, 2008 by Alan

It has been a good while now since Wii fit has released, and it has been a huge success around the world. According to the latest charts over at digital spy, Nintendo Wii fit has managed to retain its position at the top on the Nintendo charts for the 4th consecutive week running.

At the moment it is keeping Mario Kart off the top spot, so it must be still very popular among its fans. Just how many of our readers are still very much into the craze of Wii Fit? Do you still all gather round for a daily spot of yoga or aerobics with the family, or is your Wii balance board locked away gathering dust.

Personally I like to enjoy Wii-fit with some friends and enjoy its social aspects, rather than consider it a real weight loss application and spend hours stressing over spinal twists or various squat procedures!

It would be interesting to find out just how many of you are still addicted to the wonders of Wii Fit so leave a comment below.

No one can deny how popular the Nintendo Wii is, from the start we have enjoyed how great this console is especially when you have a bunch of mates around. For years we were warned how bad it was for us to just sit in one place while playing a game for hours on end.

Well since the release of the Nintendo Wii, no more could we be moaned at as this is a games console with a difference not only does it stimulate the mind but it also stimulates the body. But Nintendo still think that they could do more to get the nation fit and that is where the Wii Fit comes in.

The Wii Fit will get you to a new level of fitness without having to spend huge amounts of money at the gym. The Nintendo Wii Fit will cost just £69.99 and will be released in the UK on April 25th.

As part of this launch Nintendo are to launch a Wii Fit national tour in the UK this week. The Wii Fit tour will travel to a variety of shopping centers as well as universities, where the team will give demonstrations at just how fun this new balance board can be. The tour will go on until June.

We knew that Wii Fit by Nintendo would be very popular, but I did not think that the pre-order sales would sell out in just one day. Well that is what has happened with Play.com; Wii Fit could very well become the fastest selling games on the Wii so far.

Nintendo Wii Fit will launch on the 25th April, however the game was launched over four months ago in Japan, and as a result sold over one million copies in just it first month. The game to date has now sold over five million copies, and that number will grow once released in other countries.

Wii Fit
You probably all well know now that the Nintendo Wii Fit releases in the UK on April 25th, but what you may not know is that Nintendo plan to spend $40m on the Wii Fit launch.

The Wii Fit game obviously a massive hit with the American weight-loss market and diet-hungry Americans following its release on May 19th. This game could sell as much as 4 million copies following the American release.

If these figures are correct then it would beat one of the best shooter games out at the moment Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which has sold more than 3 million copies to date is the US.

Wii Fit has already sold 1.5 million copies in Japan; we can see smashing the charts hands down.
