We told you a few days ago that the new iPad 2 may give us some indication that the next iPhone will be of a similar design, and a white version will be available from day one.

With the new iPad 2 having a brushed aluminum back, it was thought using the same set up with the next generation of iPhone will stop the excess light which was thought to reflect off the white iPhone 4. Now today my colleague Chris Maugham is reporting the next generation of iPhone is set to have an aluminum casing.

The casing is also said to house a new redesigned antenna courtesy of a resin Apple logo embedded on the back. This new casing should not only make the device stronger and less acceptable to scratching, but also lighter. You would have thought Apple will also be looking to make the iPhone 5 thinner as well, which we have just seen with the launch of the iPad 2.

Many people were holding out for a white iPhone 4, but it is highly unlikely this will ever come to market now, as we are only a few months away before Apple usually announces the next handset. But the possibility of having a white iPhone 5 to match their white iPad 2 will make a lot of people happy.

Do you like the idea of the iPhone 5 have aluminum back?

While looking on Twitter someone came across an image from Twitter – I think you might know what it is? The handset to me looks to be a Verizon White iPhone 4, but this could be a simple bit of photoshop, what do you think?

We have already had a leaked image, and we could not determine if it was the real deal or not, so this could be a sort of Gizmodo exclusive. Looking at the image, if true the Verizon iPhone 4 will have a redesign of the Antenna. You can clearly see in the image that the three black bands have gone.

This would be an easy thing to change on Photoshop, but then again – the antenna would be the first thing that Verizon and Qualcomm would have wanted to solve first. There is also no micro SIM tray on the right hand side.

Take a look at the two images of this alleged White Verizon iPhone 4 here and here, and let us know what you think.

With all the talk of a Verizon iPhone 4 looking more likely, I wondered if Big Red would ever release a white version? If they did I wonder if they would have the same issues as Apple has had getting it to market?

To some of you this sounds like a stupid question, but not that stupid when you consider that Verizon would use a different manufacturer to the one that Apple currently uses. The reason for this is because it would have to be a CDMA version.

Maybe with Verizon on board they might be able to offer some help in how to best achieve the white finish without any issues arising as they are with the current process?

In a recent post I pointed to the fact that if the White iPhone 4 gets a Christmas release date, then the fourth-generation iPhone will be six months old. Would you still purchase the white version knowing that 6 months down the line an iPhone 5 could be released?
