Now that PlayStation Network owners in Europe and the US have had a good while to enjoy their Welcome Back Packages following on from the well documented PSN attacks, we want to know what free games chose as part of your package.

As most of you will be well aware, Sony are offering two free PS3 games and two free PSP games for every single PS3 owner. The choice of games vary depending on which region your PS3 is registered to, although as some of you have discovered, you can download multiple games if you have different area accounts.

For example, the Welcome Back Package for US PSN owners contains the following PS3 games: Dead Nation, inFamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD + Fury, however the EU Package differs slightly with the option of Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty in place for Super Stardust HD.

If you have a Japanese account, you can choose from the following free PS3 games: The Last Guy, LocoRoco Cocoreccho!, Echochrome, WipEout HD and Hustler King – not the best lineup there you have to say is it?

So with that in mind, let us know which free games you have picked, we’re going to focus on the PS3 aspect of the Welcome Back Package for now, we’ll follow up with a PSP poll providing we receive enough feedback from you.

We have a feeling most of you are going to choose inFAMOUS and Dead Nation, so try to prove us wrong. Let the voting begin!

[poll id="368"]

PSN users are almost at peace with Sony once again, after the company finally released the Welcome Back Package for users in Europe and North America. However, due to overwhelming strain on the PSN servers, most of you are having problems getting the stuff.

This isn’t a major problem though, as you can imagine that millions and millions of PS3 users are all logging on to the Store at the same time to get their free stuff, so problems are bound to arise.

So far, the problems we see are constant error messages, either when clicking on a particular section of the Store, or when waiting for content to load up after you’ve pressed it. Error codes include ”80710D36” and messages such as ‘content cannot be loaded at the time’.

Sony has already updated their message on the PS Blog to state that the error messages are due to heavy traffic. Just keep trying and eventually you should be able to navigate through the store as normal. You also may be experiencing extremely long download times when you manage to get to that stage of the Welcome Pack. Our inFAMOUS download required a 1000+ minute plus download the last time we looked at it – is yours quicker?

On a side note, there still doesn’t appear to be any official word from Sony for those of you who are still having problems changing PSN passwords via Sony’s email. Click here to read our previous report on that.

How is the PlayStation Network for you at the moment? Are you getting constant error messages all the time, or are you able to download your free games with no problems?

As most of you are aware, the PlayStation Network and more importantly, the PlayStation Store is now back online and working fine for PS3 gamers in Europe and the US. Sadly, the Welcome Back Package is not available yet, but the good news is that we have an update to give you.

We previously told you that it was just ‘coming soon‘, but now we have some further information from you, which actually comes direct from PlayStation Germany and their official Twitter account, as reported from Gamersmint.

According to them, the Welcome Back Package will be with you in a matter of days, meaning that there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to download the free games and use the 30 day PSN+ package over the weekend. Since this is PlayStation Germany, we’re not sure if this applies to the Welcome Back Package in the US too, but we’ll try to find an update on that for you today.

On a side note, Sony has posted a message on their Blog, informing users that the Welcome Back Package will come in the form of an individual section on the PlayStation Store. Apparently, users will need to download this as a file, and then afterwards you’ll have access to all the swag that Sony are offering in different regions. It will be interesting to see what those of you with multiple accounts can get your hands on. Theoretically, it could mean that you may be able to download 6 PS3 games and PSP games for free, with 2 of each platform from the US, Europe and Asia PlayStation Stores using your different accounts.

Speaking of Asia, the PlayStation Network is still not back up in Hong Kong and Korea, let alone the PS Store, so spare a thought for gamers over there while you all enjoy the PSN right now. We’ll try to find an update for you on that as well.

Are you looking forward to the Welcome Back Package?

We told you yesterday about the planned maintenance for the PlayStation Network for next week. Gamers are still waiting to hear when the PS Store will be back up and running so they can redeem their free games which Sony have offered. But we do have news of some PSN Welcome Back Package events which have been revealed by Sony.

CVG are reporting there are a number of competitions and tournaments amongst the planned events announced by Sony. These include some of the consoles biggest games like Killzone 3 and MotorStorm Apocalypse.

The company posted on the PlayStation Blog and said “It’s been a turbulent time over the past few weeks”, and finished by saying “We love online gaming, and we’re seriously glad to have it back.” Sometime during the summer there will be a Killzone 3 live event which will see you fight for your country against the EU PlayStation Community Team. There are prizes promised and more details will be available soon.

Another event is the MotorStorm Apocalyptic War where players will compete against Stormers from across Europe; this is being held next month. For more details hit the link above. Will you be taking part in any of the events?
