This content is said to consist of a new Exterminatus mode which is aptly called Chaos Unleashed, here you play as a Chaos Space Marine and battle it out against the Ork and Imperial Guard. The DLC also gives you access to three new maps: Aquila Canyon, Habs Ablaze, and Station Tertius – not only this but we are told the Capture the Flag will be added to the game.

We can also confirm that upon purchasing this content you will have access to new co-op arenas, boss rounds, and enemy units and new skins will be purchasable for the Alpha Legion, Blood Angel, Legion of the Damned, and Salamanders – these will cost 240 Microsoft Points / £2.39 each. Chaos Unleashed will hit Xbox Live, Steam and the PlayStation Network sometime in December, but no specific date has been given, however we do know that it will cost 800 Microsoft Points / $9.99 when it finally arrives. This is the first lot of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine DLC which comes with a price tag, therefore it will be interesting to see just how well it sells, perhaps it will determine whether more packs will be released in the future.

In our opinion the new content sounds promising, but some are wishing that Relic would throw in a few new weapons to mix up the action, perhaps this is being saved for the next DLC release – we can but hope.

According to Fred Dutton over at eurogamer.net the special Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Collector’s Edition comes with a soundtrack CD, a hardback art book, a 10-inch replica Purity Seal and 25 character information cards. The Collector’s Edition is available at selected retailers, with a price of £79.99.

The Collector’s Edition wasn’t the only information that THQ recently revealed either, as they also announced details for a number of pre-order bonuses. For example, if you choose to pre-order the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine game from GAME or Gamestation you will receive the Elite Armour Pack.

The Elite Armour Pack includes Iron warriors, Black Templar, Space Wolves and Emperor’s Children chapter armour skins. Meanwhile, if you pre-order the game from Sendit.com, Zavvi or Play.com you will receive the Golden Relic Chainsword, a primary close combat weapon.

If you pre-order from Blockbuster on the other hand, you will get the Golden Relic Bolter ranged combat weapon. Those who pre-order the PC game through Steam will receive the iconic red and bone coloured armour of the Blood Ravens Chapter, as well as a free copy of the Darksiders PC game.

News reported by Gamespot says that the next third-person shooter under the Warhammer title will be coming some time this August, no official day has been set by THQ. We are sure that fans will be happy to hear a definite release month and won’t mind waiting a little longer for a specific date, let’s just hope developers keep to schedule.

This will be the first Warhammer 40,000 game that comes to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, as previous versions were released for the PC and past-gen consoles, it will be interesting to see how the game looks and plays on current-gen consoles.

Accoridng to Wikipedia the game’s campaign will see the player take control of a Space Marine called Captain Titus, Titus is humanity’s last hope for survival and must use “hybrid shooting” and melee combat to fight “the Warboss”, throughout the game you will earn upgrades and be able to customize the marine.

It will be interesting to see how the game’s developers will utilize Xbox Live and PSN to their advantage, we think that the game’s multiplayer elements and future DLC are key, how about you?

The game itself casts players as a Space Marine who, through genetic modification and psycho-chemical conditioning, has gained near super-human strength and endurance. Those powers come in handy when the planet your platoon is stationed on is overrun by enemy forces.
