I was amazed to see that even on Verizon’s Twitter page there was no mention of this issue – so is it an isolated incident, or more widespread?

Customers must have first thought that the problem was with their handsets, but this is not the case. It was Engadget who learned from Verizon forums about the issue, and has seen a huge reaction on Twitter, but only when you do a search for “Verizon outage”.

Vlad Savov from Engadget is certain that engineers are working to solve this outage problem, but that will not be much comfort to those affected by this issue. One reaction on Twitter mentions that one customer contacted tech support, and there is no ETA as to when the 3G network outage will be fixed. Back in April their were two Verizon outages, one while the iPhone 4 was unveiled and the other affected emails.

Worst yet for Verizon customers, it looks as if the carrier has yet to post any updates regarding the outage, meaning that users have no indication as to when the service will be available again.

I’ve had a quick check on Verizon’s official Twitter page and there is no sign of Verizon acknowledging the outage. Luckily for you, you can keep checking the latest updates on Twitter from other users at this page.

You would think that Verizon would at least let their customers know that they are working on a quick fix to the problem. We’ll update you when we know more.

Users have been getting time out messages when trying to sign-in to the service, which has been down for a number of hours.

Verizon has acknowledged the problem, sending this message via Twitter one hour ago: ”Some Verizon Online customers are unable to access email today. We are working to isolate and resolve this problem”

It must be pretty frustrating not being able to send or receive messages, but these things happen from time to time.

We expect Verizon to fix up the problem asap. Let us know if this problem has affected you in your area. Can you access your email or not?

As reported from ComputerWorld, the outage lasted for around four hours, and affected eastern U.S. customers on their BlackBerry handsets.

Verizon confirmed the outage in an email sent out to customers, as well as on their official Twitter page. The company blamed the outage on on ”defective software in one of its data centers”.

At the moment, it is unclear just how many were affected by the outage, but it is likely that full details will be released this week. Let us know your thoughts on this.

As reported from Softpedia, it seems to be affecting a good majority of Verizon customers though, which means that data service on the likes of the Motorola Droid, Palm Pre Plus and BlackBerry Storm2 is out of action for the time being.

Verizon has confirmed the outage, but are yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Hopefully when they do, they’ll let us know an expected timeframe for when the data service will be back up and running.

When this happens, we’ll update you for sure. For now, let us know if the Verizon data outage has hit you in your area or not.
