Time to jump aboard another Verizon iPhone rumor bandwagon, and this one is pretty special. We’re hearing reports that Apple are planning to release an upgraded version of their CDMA iPhone, only this one will have support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

This particular information has some strength to it though, as the details have actually surfaced from a Verizon executive who disclosed hints about the device during a recent investor call. Here is a quote from the executive, Fran Shammo as reported from Reuters:

“There could be some (margin) lumpiness when you launch the phone. “If there happens to be a new one that comes out, that quarter might not look so good (either).”

Obviously the ending part of his comments are most interesting, and could be a clear sign that a new Verizon iPhone device will be out before the end of the year. If that’s the case, then it is very likely that this iPhone will have 4G LTE support amongst other hardware upgrades.

Pretty exciting details there don’t you think? We could be seeing a 4G Verizon iPhone with also a dual-core processor by the time 2011 ends – now that really would be something. As always, we’ll update you when we hear more details on this.

Let us know your thoughts on the subject – Do you think it’s likely that Apple will offer a revised version of their iPhone to make use of Verizon’s 4G LTE capabilities? It would be a logical step for Apple and Verizon, since they’d then be able to market their device with the ’4G’ brand everywhere, just like other companies are doing at the moment.

Following on from the rumors yesterday which told you about a potential CDMA iPhone being built in December this year, we now have some details from the Verizon CEO himself – and it is pretty exciting we have to say.

According to this report from Apple Insider, Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg has stated that he hopes Apple will build an iPhone device for use on Verizon’s 4G LTE network next year.

He made his comments when speaking in an investor’s call yesterday, as detailed in this article from Yahoo Finance. While he gave his thumbs up (again) to a Verizon iPhone, he didn’t talk about the recent rumors about an iPhone being built for their CDMA network.

All this talk of a Verizon iPhone recently – it can’t be coincidence can it? The question now is though, will the iPhone rumored for a January 2011 launch be CDMA based, or will a release happen later on in the year so it can support Verizon’s 4G network speeds?

Let us know your thoughts on this. We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything else on this topic.

What were your thoughts on AT&T’s change to their data plans? Most consumers are not happy with the move as it means an end to the unlimited data plans for their iPhone, but one article we have found suggests that their new plans could actually mean something major for another carrier.

An article we have found over at eWeek has pinpointed ten reasons why they think AT&T’s new data plans means that the Verizon iPhone 4G will be announced at WWDC 2010.

They believe that the timing of AT&T’s data plans announcement was very suspect, adding that the new data plans will save money for the carrier in the long run – and save revenue if the iPhone would land on another carrier – a move which would surely cut into AT&T’s revenue.

Another key reason is that they believe AT&T already knows if a Verizon iPhone is coming or not, given the fact that AT&T had a long-standing agreement with Apple for the iphone and would be the first ones to know if Apple wanted to move away from their agreement.

While it may of been perceived as a bad move for ending the unlimited data plan for customers, it could actually turn out to be a smart business move for the carrier with a Verizon iPhone due to land at WWDC 2010.

Let us know your thoughts on this. Full article over at eWeek.

As AT&T continues to have exclusivity to Apple’s iPhone, customers of Verizon Wireless must wonder if they will ever be able to get their hands on Apples Smartphone. Any announcement for the iPhone on Verizon Wireless could be months away.

SFGate.com is running a story about why it would be in Apple’s best interest to sell the iPhone on Verizon. Verizon Wireless being the top U.S. carrier Apple could have access to millions of possible customers.

With the Smartphone industry having a big future it could be disastrous for Apple to stall for much longer. Google are currently selling huge numbers with Android on Verizon, and selling the iPhone on the network could make some impact on the success.

Any news on a tie up should surely come within the coming months, but probably not at WWDC 2010 next month. Click here for the full story.

Yet more Verizon iPhone 4G rumors to share with you now, as it has been reported that Taiwanese company Pegatron Technologies has secured a contract with Apple for a CDMA version of the iPhone 4G.

As reported from Apple Insider, the rumors have surfaced from this DigiTimes article, which suggests that Pegatron may even take over from, or work side by side with FoxConn, the company which built previous versions of the iPhone and also handles Apple products such as the Mac Mini, iPod and iPad.

The article also suggests that the CDMA-equipped iPhone 4G could make its way to Sprint, along with Verizon, and that the recently reported exclusivity deal that AT&T has with Apple could be void.

As usual though, nothing has been confirmed and Apple Insider point out that Digi Times has a track record for getting things wrong in the past.

What are your thoughts on this particular story though? Do you believe that Pegatron will build a CDMA iPhone for Verizon or not?

We have an interesting article for you to read now, in which a new study has revealed that customers on AT&T are not entirely happy with the call quality on their network and in turn, not satisfied with the current level of service they are getting.

As reported from Apple Insider, a new study by ChangeWave revealed that 4.5 percent of calls by AT&T customers were dropped in the last three months – the worst out of the four major carriers in the U.S.

This is not good reading for AT&T given the fact that they will be trying to persuade customers to move into new contracts for the upcoming iPhone 4G. The same survey also revealed that Verizon, who are rumored to support the iPhone in the future, only suffered from a 1.5 percentage of dropped calls – meaning that AT&T were three times worst than AT&T.

Further results from the study concluded that only 23 percent of surveyed AT&T customers said they are “very satisfied” with AT&T’s service, while Verizon’s figure stood at 49 percent – more than double than AT&T.

Are you an AT&T customer? If so, how do you feel about the results? Would you consider moving to Verizon if they secured the iPhone too? Give us your thoughts on this.

While many Verizon customers are taking it as a certainty that the next version of the iphone will be available on their network, we have a contrasting opinion from an analyst who believes that AT&T may keep exclusivity on the iPhone for another 18 months.

As reported from Reuters, Jonathan Chaplin, an analyst from Credit Suisse made his remarks following on from the recent admission from Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg that any move for the iPhone on Verizon is now ‘Apple’s call’.

But while Verizon customers and the world’s media naturally got excited about his remarks, Chaplin has predicted that AT&T may go on to keep the iPhone for another 12 or 18 months yet – citing Verizon’s high-speed network (which still isn’t completed) as a key reason.

But can Verizon customers really hold on and wait that long? – Especially after Apple’s mouthwatering presentation of iPhone OS 4.0 that will be available alongside the new iPhone this Summer.

Let us know your thoughts on this. More over at Reuters.

While the release of the iPhone on Verizon’s network would generally be an great thing for current subcribers, we have an article for you to read now, which explains why the release of the iPhone on Verizon could also be great for your pocket.

As reported from Cnet, a Verizon iPhone could spark a huge price war on Apple’s device if it was to come to Verizon. As it stands it is only available in the US on AT&T, and at a pretty high price too. So much, that Cnet has compared prices for the iPhone in the US and prices for the iPhone in the UK.

A quick study on iPhone prices in the UK concludes, that it is much cheaper buying an iPhone over there, than paying a much higher price for one on AT&T.

Earlier on this week, we mentioned how T-Mobile might be getting the iPhone in the future too, along with Verizon. If this happens, you can bet that Verizon, T-Mobile and maybe even Sprint will battle it out to offer the best price for their customers.

If the iPhone 4G does stay on AT&T this Summer, then it is almost certain that you’ll have to pay even more than you do at the moment. If it lands on another carrier though, data plans may start to become a lot cheaper for you.

Have a read of Cnet’s article and let us know what you think of this.

We have an update on the rumored Verizon iPhone 4G now, as we have some breaking details from Verizon’s CEO, as he has stated in a recent phone call that it is now down to ‘Apple’s call’ on the proposed move.

A report over at CNBC reveals that Verizon would be open to the possibility of having Apple’s device on their network, adding further weight to the idea that Apple will be offering a CMDA version of the iPhone this Summer.

The news comes after Apple themselves announced a event for this Thursday, in which they will be introducing iPhone OS 4.0 to the public for the first time.

Pretty exciting news if the CEO on Verizon says they want to discuss the iPhone with Apple. Let us know your thoughts on this.

Thinking of picking up the iPhone if it lands on Verizon this year? Hold your horses, as one article we’ve found states that it could come with one major setback that has been overlooked.

As reported from OZCarGuide, the CMDA version of the iPhone may be limited in terms of multitasking capabilities, that is set to come with iPhone OS 4.0.

The source states that one of AT&T’s main benefits, is the fact that you can easily surf that web while making a voice call, which is a feature lacking on Verizon’s and Sprint’s network at the moment.

We know that multitasking on the iPhone is a big deal to a lot of you, so would you really want to pick up the Verizon iPhone 4G, knowing that it may be at a disadvantage to the AT&T iPhone 4G?

Give us your thoughts on this.
