We would all like the fastest possible internet connection, and Verizon FiOS has recently launched a broadband service with speeds of 35 Mbps upstream, and a speed of 150 megabits downstream. The new service is supported by a fiber-optic network with prices starting at $194.99 per month, if purchased with a one year contract and Verizon wireline call service.

Residential customers can get the service now with business customers it will be available in December. Eric Bruno vice president of Verizon product management said “The new 150/35 Mbps FiOS Internet offer establishes a new benchmark for high-speed Internet in America, and paves the way for a flurry of emerging bandwidth-intensive applications to reach mainstream status.” The service is fast enough for users to download a 1GB file in around one minute.

This is a speed that is three times faster than Time Warner’s quickest service, and 50% faster than Cablevision and Comcast according to Verizon.
