An article over at The Independent is reporting that ten companies have announced plans for charge stations; these will be sited across Japan in a cost-cutting measure. The group of companies which include Panasonic Electric Works, Forking Co. will work together to produce and develop electric vehicle chargers.

Forking has access to 1.2 million vending machines across Japan which is around half the total in the entire country. The group of firms is planning to add around 10,000 vehicle chargers at vending machine sites beginning the end of this month. SoftBank Mobile and SoftBank Telecom are set to provide telecom services for the charging stations.

We have seen vehicle manufacturers launching electric cars such as Nissan with the leaf last year, but many people feel the lack of charging options makes switching to electric cars not practical. We recently reported of a gold vending machine, now there is the first kiosk that dispenses wine. As you would imagine there is a few pieces of technology designed to only serve those of age.

You will first need to swipe your drivers license into the wine vending machine and then look at the camera and finally breath into a tube, only then will your drink be given to you. We are surprised that you do not have to juggle at the same time to earn your wine.

The wine machine is being tested in Pennsylvania first – if tests prove successful then there could be a number of other vending machines placed in the state. There are currently just two.

Fox News who got their information from AP wonders if anyone will actually want to buy their wine from a vending machine? At the test site, those who have used the machine were happy and would like to see it take of in other locations.

Well that is just what you get when you stay at the Emirates Palace – the top hotel in Abu Dhabi.

According to AOL Travel News the name of the machine is Gold To Go and allows those who use it to trade in cash for gold, with a choice of coins to 10-gram bars. The price of gold is updated every ten minutes and then weighed by the machine – the price of gold was $1,245 an ounce yesterday.

We were surprised to learn that this is not the first Gold To Go machine; the first machine was located in Frankfurt’s Airport last year. The outside of the machine is coated in a thin-layer of 24-caret gold. The gold ATM offers a choice of 320 items, which is down to customer preference.

We know that gold is produced in Canada, Australia and South Africa, which is why you can have your gold coins engraved with maple leaf, kangaroo, and Krugerrand. Do not expect one of these Gold To Go machines in any normal hotel, only ones like that in Abu Dhabi. Where they have a love affair with gold.
