Let’s cut to the chase, if you liked the other two games in the series you are going to love Uncharted 3, if you can only afford one game before Christmas – buy Uncharted 3, if you have been looking for an excuse to buy a PS3 here it is – it’s that good!

Want some proof? Well let’s start with the opinion of the most reputable video game sites out there, IGN, they scored it a perfect 10 out of 10, you can see there review for yourself here. In terms of presentation, graphics, sound, gameplay and lasting appeal it got 10/10, meaning that it is faultless – we have never seen a game receive a perfect score like this. IGN’s Greg Miller summed things up by saying “If you’re willing to skip Uncharted 3, be prepared to miss one of gaming’s finest moments”.

Obviously one review cannot prove that this game is really a masterpiece, so let’s point you in the direction of some other reputable reviews which game Drake’s Deception top marks. The Official PlayStation Magazine gave it a perfect score here, so did GamePro (here) and 1UP (here).

In the interest of fairness we have to point out that not everyone thinks this game is perfection, EuroGamer’s Simon Parkin scored it just 8/10, you can see why he gave it such a relatively low score here. Finally one website called A.V. Club scored the game a B- (which equates to 5/10) – here is what they say: “Two years after Thieves, Uncharted’s gameplay mechanics and conventions are no longer dated; they’re borderline archaic” – we think that the site has just done this to get page views, therefore we aren’t even going to bother linking you to the review, but if you are determined to see it check out MetaCritic for the link along with dozens of other reviews.

GAME, one of the top European computer games retailers has revealed two additional contents that come with the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Special Edition copy that include a game manual that can be folded out into a “map style sheet” and an additional in-game multiplayer bonus. The Power Hunter Kickback will let you see all the available high-level weapon classes on the map you are playing which is pretty cool.

Game has made a detailed list of what comes with the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Special Edition, which now include that of the two additional contents we listed above.

Along with the map style sheet and The Power Hunter Kickback, GAME is also offering an ‘ancient treasure’ style book that shows off illustrated pages with concept art, renders and screenshots and x5 multiplayer DLC’s that are redeemable via PSN. These include: -Character Skin and weapon (allows you to customise your avatar and weapon with a particular skin), Cash multiplier (earn in-game cash faster to purchase upgrades), Avatar decals Pack (decals set to customise your avatar), Upper Cut Taunt (allows players to perform an upper cut taunt move, Great for bragging rights when playing online) and of course the Power Hunter Kickback (ability to see all higher weapon classes on the map) which we have already mentioned.

Unfortunatly for US and North American users, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Special Edition is only available in European countries and will cost 59.99 Euros. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Special Edition will be release exclusively on PlayStation 3 on November 1st, 2011.

As Arne Meyer – Community Strategist at Naughty Dog – recently noted over on the blog.us.playstation.com website, the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta racked up more than 1.53 million unique players during its time online, making it the PS3’s largest ever online multiplayer beta.

In fact, Meyer has provided a list of some of the jaw-dropping stats from the multiplayer beta. For example, the 1.53 million unique players managed to complete a total of 22 million matches and in that time, a total of 48 billion shots were fired and 1.9 billion kills were made.

The total multiplayer beta time played works out at more than 362 years worth of matches, and the total cash collected was 1.4 trillion dollars. Naughty Dog says that although the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta has now ended, they will still keep the feedback forums open for a few more days.

As Meyer noted, this is to allow fans to post their closing thoughts on the multiplayer beta. Once they close the feedback forums, the developer will reopen the normal multiplayer discussion forum on NaughtyDog.com and will spend the next few weeks going through all the feedback.

The developer made several changes, tweaks and fixes during the multiplayer beta, and will make more improvements based upon players’ feedback. Those of you that are thinking of attending the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con next week will be pleased to know that Uncharted 3 will be making an appearance.

Naughty Dog will be taking a limited number of game types – which were featured in the multiplayer beta – to the PlayStation booth (located in the Exhibit Hall) all next week. They’ve also got an Uncharted 3 panel on Friday, as well as a number of announcements.

Don’t worry if you’re not attending the Comic-Con 2011 event however, as you’ll still get a chance to play the Uncharted 3 multiplayer in October by visiting a participating SUBWAY restaurant. Did you get a chance to participate in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta?

Paul Curtin from moviestinger.com got to spend a little hands-on time with the multiplayer build during the E3 2011 event earlier this month, and has voiced similar concerns as to those that are being mentioned on the official forums. Gamers who loved the simple, yet perfected multiplayer side of the Uncharted 2 game appear to be up in arms about how complex the multiplayer side of Uncharted 3 has become.

Naughty Dog has decided to revamp almost everything in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer, which hasn’t gone down too well with some fans. The first noticeable change is the overall pacing, which according to Paul appears much slower than the Uncharted 2 game. Gamers tend to move slower and more sluggish in the Uncharted 3 game in order to emphasize the new sprint feature.

Players didn’t have the ability to sprint in the Uncharted 2 game, which enabled them to constantly run at a faster pace. Another change is that the maps are slightly larger than the previous title, which seems to create pauses in the non-stop action created in smaller maps. One of the biggest changes of the Uncharted 3 multiplayer however is the way that the weapons have been tweaked, and how players can pick weapons and modify them before they enter matches.

It is actually the addition of Power Plays and Kickbacks that seem to have upset Uncharted 2 fans the most. Kickbacks enable gamers to use a custom power-up once they reach a certain number of kills, similar to the killstreak system in the Call of Duty games. Meanwhile, the Power Play system goes into effect when a multiplayer match begins to get lopsided.

Teams that are losing by a considerable amount are given the opportunity to kill marked players on the opposite team for some additional points. They are also given the ability to see exactly where their enemies are. Another new feature introduced in the Uncharted 3 game is treasures, which randomly pop up after an enemy has been killed. These treasures can then be picked up by the player that made the kill.

First things first and we can confirm that the title has also been given it’s proper name, and that is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Just to recap, the game will take place before the events of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune but it’s understood that this is not a prequel, but rather a brand new storyline in the Uncharted universe.

The game will make use of dual analogue sticks, touchscreen support and also motion controls thanks to the new NGP hardware. Golden Abyss is being developed by Sony Bend, with original developers Naughty Dog overlooking the project. Sadly there’s no release date yet, but you can look forward to seeing much more info on the game at Sony’s E3 press conference next week.

As for the new video, we get to see some brand new gameplay from the game, although the PS Blog reminds us that the game is still running on a NGP development kit, and the final product will look a lot more polished. That’s pretty impressive since the visuals in the video look pretty good as it is, especially some of the cut-scenes – definitely PS3 like.

Sony’s latest piece of hardware continues to impress, with breathtaking graphics and exceptional hardware achievements. New information about the NGP’s memory card requirements and specifications has also hit the news, which the developers for the NGP will want to know.

The NGP will be selling memory cards in 2GB and 4GB formats, which means that any PS3 developers who use the full capacity of a Blu–ray disc with their PS3 titles will need to be shrunk down considerably. They can do this by simplifying their models, shaders and textures to bring them down to the capabilities of the NGP.

Unfortunatly, the price on the Sony device is still in no-mans-land. We are none the wiser on how much the NGP will actually cost, but it can’t be long before they spill the beans.

Although Lara’s physical appearance never lost its interest CVG say the game itself novelty faded. This is why Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics both decided to give the archeologist a makeover.

The new rejuvenated 21 year old Lara will yet again go on an adventure, this time to get out of a hellish situation. More about the game can be read at CVG here.

The release of the new game Tomb Raider would find itself directly compared to the successful franchise which has of late overtaken the Tomb Raider franchise. CVG list both games in their list of 7 best action games ever saying the fact that Uncharted is compared to Tomb Raider is a compliment. Check out which other games made it in their list.

Taking into account what we have already, we have come across an article from GamingBolt who have put together a selection of screenshots from Uncharted 2 against ones from Uncharted 3. Uncharted 3 images are on top and Uncharted 2 images are at the bottom, as if you needed us to tell you!

As you can see from the screenshots, the improvement in graphics is quite significant to say the least.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was questionably one of the games of the current generation, and any attempts to beat it would take some doing. But as you can tell, Naughty Dog have gone out on a limb here and have delivered even more impressive graphics this time around.

Just in case you missed it, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will make it’s PS3 launch on November 1st, 2011, and I’m sure that any Uncharted player will be looking forward to that date for a significant while yet.

Now no one can argue that Wahlberg has that special something when it comes to playing a tough guy, but I do fear that he could put the kiss of death on the movie adaption, as he did with the May Payne movie. The sad fact is, it promised to be a great movie, but the critics hated it, and I have to say – was not one of mark’s best.

There is always a risk when games are adapted for the big screen, I have a hard job thinking of any that have been successful, you only have to think Street Fighter and Mortal Combat – try as I might, I just cannot get those poorly acted and scripted movies out of my head.

According to Jason Schreier from Wired, shooting is to start next year and will have the talents of David O. Russell directing. There is rumored to big two big gangster type actors in the movie, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro. I cannot wait to see what De Niro does best, as he has let the hard-man character slip of late – we all know what movies I am on about.

The game in question is Fable 3, it seems that there were two PlayStation 3 exclusives that helped influence the design director. Those games were Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2, which were revealed in a recent interview with CVG.

In the interview the guys behind Fable 3 said that during gameplay you will see a certain amount of influence from both the above mentioned games, but is this really a bad thing?

It does not matter what you do there are always influences; these include movies, commercials, songs, as well as other video games. However, we just hope that only the good things have been taken from both games and included in Fable 3.
