Like many other gamers we’ve completed Uncharted 3 while enjoying an amazing story with characters that left lasting memories, which felt like watching a really long movie and kept us hooked. The humor made the game even better and felt like you were at the cinema when watching the cut-scenes, although it’s not easy to find another game with that kind of movie feeling while playing and watching.

Max Payne 3 looks explosive and has the cinematic appeal to entertain Uncharted 3 veterans – if you loved UC3 then there’s a good chance you’ll find the same movie feeling in Max Payne 3, which has had some extensive research done during the making of the game to give you something that is both believable and immersive.

In our opinion there hasn’t been a game with the humor and cinematic experience like Uncharted 3, since that game released, but all that is about to change on May 15 when Max Payne 3 is released. This game will feel like a movie just as UC3 did, and be the one you’ve been waiting for thanks to the developers explaining the whole game “will feel like a movie“.

With this in mind, you’ll be pleased to know that developers for the game Naughty Dog have just released a new gameplay trailer for the game, which specifically offers some tips and strategies for those who are total newcomers to the series.

For example, you’ll learn all the different types of stealth moves that are available in the game, and when and where abouts you can use them on a particular map – ie, throwing opponents off buildings and ledges for example. You’ll also get a few tips on the best way to successfully defeat your opponent with your weapon and also tips on how to emerge victorious in a popular Uncharted 3 melee battle.

We played the beta and we can say that it definitely isn’t easy to just ‘jump straight into things‘ as you would in perhaps a Call of Duty game for example. You’ll need to spend a bit of time working on your aiming, and then earn enough cash and rank up in order to unlock the different perks that are available for each weapons.

Melee battles are pretty frustrating in the game, especially if your opponent manages to get the first hit on you. If you have a full bar but then get hit first, you’ll need to quickly roll out of the way otherwise you’ll just die if you get hit again. As for using weapons, the one hit sniper kills may be deemed as slightly frustrating for players as well, as the T-Bolt action sniper in particular seems to be very accurate, even if you are not fully aimed on your opponent – one shot and you’re down.

If you have played the beta religiously, you are probably already at level 35 and are waiting for the full release to carry on ranking up. If you think you have mastered the beta, suggest some of your best tips below so new Uncharted fans can take note of.

The Uncharted Season Pass will be much like the EA Season Ticket, where one purchase will allow access to multiple DLC, except this version is called ‘membership’ to the Fortune Hunter’s Club. It can be purchased from certain retailers and the PlayStation Store now and according to the PlayStation Blog it will entitle members to three multiplayer skin packs and the first four multiplayer map packs.

Each DLC pack has its own release date, the first being of which will become available in November and each has its own price. Buying the DLC separately would normally cost $45 in total, however with the pre-ordered Fortune Hunter’s Club membership it will only cost $24.99, that’s a saving of 45% making it well worth it if gamers intend on collecting all the DLC available for the game.

If you think you will be getting all of the DLC and are interested in purchasing the Season Pass then signing up for it now will entitle members to a free Fortune Hunter’s PS3 theme and an XMB notification every time new content is released. Naughty Dog has been beta testing Uncharted 3 since June now, and we are almost at the finish line since we just have a few weeks left before the game will finally release exclusively on the PS3. Before that, one more wave of beta testing will commence and IGN and Fileplanet are giving away 10,000 beta codes to PS3 users, with no catch whatsoever. Click here to get your key.

Obviously you’ll need to be quick if you want to get a code, as they are going to get snapped up pretty quick as you can imagine. Usually beta access is restricted to PSN+ members only, but since we are nearing the release date, we think Naughty Dog wants everyone to get a taste of the action before the full game goes live on November 1.

What you will need handy though is an account with FilePlanet, and then once you have that you’ll get your beta key after you’ve entered a simple security code. If all goes well, you’ll get a key and this can be used on the PlayStation Store immediately: simply head to the redeem voucher section of the store, input your code and then hey presto, you’ll get the download prompt for the beta.

A word of warning though – As you can see from the image above, the download weighs in at a hefty 3244MB, so you may want to leave your PS3 downloading in the background and go and do something else for a few hours, or maybe an hour depending on your network speed. Still though, this is a no catch multiplayer beta we’re talking about for one of the potential candidates for Game of 2011. With this in mind, the download time is well worth the wait.

Uncharted 3 is shaping up to be one of the games of the year, and during a recent statement in which Sony confirms that the game has just gone gold and entered into final preparations before release, a surprise has unfolded, coming in the form of exclusive beta access to Starhawk in 2012.

If you don’t know, Starhawk is the follow-up to the hugely popular PS3 online shooter Warhawk, and a beta will start at some point during the early months of next year. Below is an example of the voucher code you’ll receive by buying Uncharted 3 on November 1st, as taken from the US PlayStation Blog.

We certainly didn’t expect that to happen, so it’s a great surprise for those buying Uncharted. Along with DUST 514, Starhawk may be one of the surprise games of 2012, so to get an opportunity to try the game before anyone else is a deal which you’ll be crazy to turn down if you’re a PS3 owner.

Once you’ve obtained your beta key, prepare to be joined by Warhawk players too, as we told you a few months back that Warhawk players would be given first priority for the beta by Sony. If you haven’t seen any gameplay for the 32-player capable Starhawk yet, check out some footage here which was taken during this Summer’s E3 expo.

The most important buttons to use is Square and R1; if you watch the video below you will never aim again. If you don’t believe us, just watch, you will see just what we mean. There are those that say that Naughty Dog has spoiled the multiplayer aspect of the game when compared to previous versions, but that is a debate that’s ongoing.

Some of our readers have been joining in with the debate about Uncharted 3 beta; the first is that the developer has made the game far too easy with just the use of two buttons used most of the time. The problem with progressing much better in the game without aiming will force us all to play a certain one – that’s not how a game should be.

One reader has even suggested that Naughty Dog should spend some time with Epic, as they will show them how to develop a multiplayer game. It seems that people are forgetting the fact that this game is still in beta (just like Battlefield 3) and is prone to a few issues. Maybe we should be more critical if these issues are still present in the full public release at the start of November?

In the build up to its release, Sony has announced their plans to launch an Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception PlayStation 3 bundle at the same time the game is released. It will be a limited edition that offers a copy of the game as well as a month subscription to PlayStation Plus, free of charge and a 320GB PS3 console all for $299.99.

So far the deal has only been confirmed to be available to the US, with no word of a similar deal in the UK or Europe as of yet. CVG believe it won’t be long however, before we do hear about a similar offering elsewhere, judging from the backing Sony is giving the game. However the game won’t be out in the UK until November 2nd.

We recently brought you an article comparing which storylines will be wining your hearts out of this PS3 exclusive and the Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War 3. Both games belong to successful franchises and will already have a well-established following, but most people will only be able to play one or the other. We also revealed some special edition content you can expect from the game in another article, which consists of an in-game multiplayer bonus and a manual which folds out into a map.

Some people still want to compare the stories and graphics of Gears of War 3 (a release date of September 20), and Uncharted 3 (release of November 2). Without getting into the graphics, let’s look at the stories for both of these franchises.

One author on Velocity Gamer feels that GoW has a lot better story lines, and explains, in their blog post here, that the shooting mechanics are better in Gears while the graphics are better in Uncharted, but how did they get to the story conclusion?

They found that the games are pretty even when it comes to acting, even though Gears has a lot of cursing, which is seen as justified when you’re battling a monstrous enemy. We’ll have to agree that “less” can be a lot more, and that the Gears of War 3 trailer said more in the quiet moments like when Dom lays back with his eyes closed ready to give up, and then Marcus saves him as if to say get up and fight, all without a word being said. If the full game continues with this approach it will mean a lot with how the feelings of the game are passed on. Most players will already prefer the stories of their favorite game, and as such will have a favorite in Gears of War or Uncharted.

Other opinions we’ve heard include feelings that Uncharted 3 mainly has just graphics going for it, and the franchise is one of the most overrated. Which game do you think will have the better story, Gears of War 3 or Uncharted 3?

According to an article on MSXboxworld some people think that PS3 owners don’t like spending their cash compared to Xbox360 owners, especially when it comes to pre-orders. The top ten list of pre-order games backs this theory up as it is mainly made up with Xbox 360 versions of games. There is a similar amount of both the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles owned around the world.

Some may even say the Xbox 360 is the home of the first person shooter which could account for some of the titles in the list. With the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 the pre-orders for the Xbox 360 version are around double of the PS3. The Xbox 360 exclusives may explain some of the differences in numbers, but then you have the situation of Uncharted 3.

The game is one of the biggest titles on the PS3 platform, but even though it’s not long away, it currently only sits at number twelve in the pre-order chart. Of the top ten pre-orders the Xbox 360 accounts for seven of them, with the PS3 having two and the other one taken by the Wii. Uncharted 3 as of July 16th had 140,000 pre-orders compared to Battlefield 3 having around the same. Compare that to the pre-orders of the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 which has over 250,000.

If you compare these figures to those of the Amazon.com bestsellers which includes pre-order data, Uncharted 3 doesn’t even make the top 100. It does currently sit at number four in the most wished for chart though. The game will probably go on to sell well, but there shouldn’t be any need to worry about the game selling out come release day.

One reason why many PlayStation 3 owners have not pre-ordered games yet could be the fact they want to see who will have the best deals. Retailers often do special launch week deals on new titles with discounted prices for a few days. These are often kept secret until the game is about to release.

However, according to a recent article by Ipfisher over on thegamershub.net website, the 1.02 update has now gone live, bringing with it a number of content updates and various fixes. The latest patch has not only increased the minimum time between Power Plays activating from 30 seconds up to 60 seconds, it has also disabled the activation of a Power Play once 40 kills have been reached in a Team Deathmatch game.

Version 1.02 has also made improvements to reduce the long Matchmaking wait times that some players were unfortunately experiencing, as well as fixed a problem where players were unable to pick up some of the in-game objects. Another issue that has now been fixed is the problem where the idol in Plunder would not reset correctly. The idol should now reset to one of the specified spawn points.

Players also reported an issue in which the team with the lowest number of kills could potentially win in a Sudden Death match, even if they finished the game with less kills than the team that came in first place. Naughty Dog has addressed this issue and players should no longer experience this. The developer has also fixed the issue where some players would take damage through their shield in Co-op matches.

The last place team in Three Team Deathmatch will now get placed into Observer Mode in Sudden Death. The waiting time before the vote countdown after a match has also been reduced, and is now 15 seconds instead of 30. The developer Naughty Dog has also added extra data tracking to the server, to aid the analysis of player behavior, matches and other technical information.

A number of other game problems have been fixed with the latest update, including the issue which caused some players to experience trouble connecting to multiplayer and the issue where some PlayStation 3 consoles would hard reset under certain circumstances. The Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta was only accessible by a certain number of gamers when it first launched last week, but that all changed yesterday when the beta was finally opened up for everyone. According to Anthony Severino over at playstationlifetyle.net, the developer enabled two new modes in the beta: the ‘Co-Op Hunter’ mode and the ‘Team Objective’ mode.
