Gamers and fighters who chose to play the demo will be able to get straight into the action by selecting the ‘Fight Now’ mode with two weight classes at your disposal, heavyweight and middleweight.

Representing the heavyweight class, you can select from STRIKEFORCE champion, Alistair Overeem and former professional wrestler, Bobby Lashley. Jake Shields, and the entertaining Jason “Mayhem” Miller make up the choices for the middleweight class.

EA MMA promises that this game is different from any other in it’s class by enabling you to step outside the cage, travel the global while fighting in numerous different fighting arenas and envoirnments with different rules and training locations.

One added bonus of playing the demo will also net you the chance to unlock a playable classic version of Randy Couture, that can be obtained by sharing the demo game with friends. Other features covered in the demo are Live Broadcast mode, Career, Fight Card, Create-A-Fighter that features Photo Game Face, Fighter Share and Online Belt Race.

EA MMA is released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 19, 2010, but in the meantime why don’t you check out the demo and see what the fuss is all about.

Critic’s reviews for the game have been too and fro, with an average score of about 8/10, this score is the same as the result of metacritic’s user review poll, therefore seems to be a fair representation.

I have played the proper release on the PS3 and I was very impressed, despite only playing the exhibition I really didn’t find one flaw with the game. I enjoy the quick action it offers along with tactical grappling and submission system.

Previously I have played a lot of Fight Night Round 4, and although you can’t directly compare the two, I feel that Fight Night’s long fights can be a bit boring after a while (especially when socializing with friends), whereas there is a good chance a UFC battle will be over within a few minutes.

As reported from VG247, this means that those of you planning to pick up a second-hand copy of the game, won’t be able to access any of the game’s online multiplayer features, unless you pay an additional $5. Shocking.

Here is the official statement from THQ regarding the matter: “This multiplayer content for UFC Undisputed 2010 will be available via a one-time code included with the game at purchase. Codes for accessing the content will be available for second-time buyers for an additional $5.”

So, those of you who regularly pick up second-hand games from retailers, expect to pay an extra fee to unlock the full features of the game.

As previously mentioned the demo allows you to choose from four fighters, these are Lyoto Machida, Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans, all of which have pretty distinguished UFC careers.

Liddell’s video (embedded at the end of this post) shows how UFC Undisputed 2010 aims to deliver a realistic career game mode, and I must say after watching the video I am far more excited about the upcoming game.

In the video Chuck talks about his UFC debut in 1998, he then goes on to talk about his clash with Tito Ortiz at UFC 47, the video cleverly mixes real-life action with gameplay footage, Liddel then goes on to say “a career is more than belts, its a journey, its challenge, its a struggle”, hopefully this hints at a more fulfilling career mode than the last time.

The aim of the ‘Ultimate Fight Mode’ is to allow the player to relive and re-play some of UFC’s greatest ever matches in the history of the sport. Gamers will be presented with an introduction from one of the Octagon Girls, comments from the fighters, and also real life footage from the chosen fight.

The player can choose any of the fighters to represent, and replay the fight to their liking by choosing to be the champion, or to try and change the outcome by playing as ‘the spoiler’

The additional, and exclusive events which there are 5 more to chose from on the PS3 brings the total of Ultimate Fights up to 20. The extra fights that you can look forward to are available on this page.

But that is not it, PS3 owners will also get the luxury of being able to play 3 additional fighters. UFC Hall of Gamer Royce Gracie, first ever Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver and first wrestler to prove himself in the Octagon Dan Severn will also be playable.

In a previous post, we showed UFC fans how they can get early access to the demo where you be able to play as Maurice ‘Shogun’ Rua, Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida, Rashad ‘Sugar’ Evans and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

Apparently an early access demo will be launching this week, it looks as if the early demo will be available for both Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, you can find out full details by checking out this link.

To have a chance of getting early access to the demo you must register as a user of the UFC Undisputed Community, you can do this here, registration is completely free-of-charge and takes just a few minutes, be aware that the process does involve signing up to future emails etc, therefore be careful what boxes you tick etc.

It is unclear exactly how and when you can receive early access codes, however a paragraph here states that “Yes, the demo is coming out in just a matter of days, and we want to give YOU, our Undisputed Community members, exclusive first access way before the rest of the world gets it. Pending final demo approval from Microsoft and Sony, the first batch of download codes are planned to be released here to registered community members next week. More details coming soon!”

As reported from VG247, the video gives us a great look at how career mode is progressing so far, with highlights being the training camps, in-game interviews and weigh-ins.

One of the most interesting aspects of the game, will be called game tracking. If your chosen fighter performs a certain move over and over again, eventually the computer AI will pick up on this and counter-attack accordingly. Pretty smart we say.

Game tracking alone is sure to add a bit of longevity to the career mode, ensuring things are kept fresh and not repetitive – which is always a downside to any career mode.

The video is pretty clever as it promotes both the video game and the fighter, you can see the video embedded at the end of this post.

The video shows Velasquez’s wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing skills, it then shows these skills being put into action in the game, I must say the fast-paced realistic action really gets me excited for the May 25th 2010 release.

The demo for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 will allow you choose from four fighters, these fighters are all Light Heavyweight’s with pretty distinguishd UFC careers, they are Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad “Sugar” Evans.

The demo itself will allow you to fight in an exhibition fight or challenge your friends online in a tournament mode.
