Rayman Legends is looking like one of the standout games of 2013, despite the fact that Ubisoft delayed to game on Wii U to make it multiplatform on PS3 and Xbox 360. This week, we have another indiction just how beautiful the game is looking, with the release of a new gameplay trailer that shows off some underwater levels for the first time.

Everyone loves a co-op platformer and Rayman Legends is arguably going to be challenging New Super Mario Bros on the Wii U as the best platforming game on the system. Up to four friends can take part in the frantic action, with even an additional player slot available as Murfy using the Wii U GamePad.

Failing that, the game is also coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 as well with co-op support, with Ubisoft now on course for an all platform release on August 30 in the UK and a few days after in the US – makes a change. Ubisoft has unveiled the ’20,000 lums under the sea’ trailer, giving you a look at some of the water levels in the game.

The artwork is simply breath-taking and you really have to sit back and admire how good the game really looks. We’re actually surprised that Ubisoft has not expanded into a Rayman cartoon series yet, as we have a feeling it would be a big hit with the younger audience.

The video also gives a detailed look into the new female character Barbara for the first time as well, so that will be good news for female Rayman fans wanting to play through the game as her. Don’t forget that you can already play a Rayman Legends demo now, exclusively on the Wii U version – it’s available from the eShop.

Watch the stunning footage above and let us know if you are going to have to fit Rayman Legends in as well, with your busy Fall 2013 gaming purchases.

While a lot of Wii U owners may be still unhappy over the situation involving Rayman Legends, we have fresh information this week revealing that the Ubisoft Montpellier development team hasn’t wasted any time in adding new content during the delay. The game was originally expected to release as a Wii U launch title last year, but will now release as a multi-platform title instead in September.

The feeling may still be of anger towards Ubisoft, the publisher that is, but the development team behind the game has given new optimism that the delay will be worth it in a way – with the confirmation that 30 new levels, as well as brand new bosses have been added to the game during the delay period.

That means that Rayman Legends is going to feature more content than originally planned and it in a way gives the game a happy ending overall. Of course, it’s not nice seeing a once exclusive game go multiplatform, but Ubisoft has made the decision and at least the developers are making the most out of the situation.

Meanwhile, we can also tell you that a second Rayman Legends demo is going live at the end of April, exclusively on the Wii U. This demo will include an early preview at the online challenge modes in the game and more importantly a level called Murfy’s dungeon which Ubisoft has said is exclusive to the Wii U version.

Don’t forget that the challenge mode is going to be updated weekly and monthly upon release in September, so Rayman Legends is definitely shaping up to be the best Rayman game in history. Let us know your thoughts now after the dust has settled a bit over the delay.

Are you over it now, or still a little angry?

We have a welcome update on Watch Dogs to bring you now, as Ubisoft has decided to release an interesting new gameplay video. This one gives us another look at the footage we saw during Sony’s PS4 presentation, but this time with added commentary analysis allowing to take a closer look at the inner-depths of the game.

More specifically, we get a more intimate introduction to Aiden Pearce courtesy of the Chicago Central Operating System or the CtOS as it is commonly referred to in-game. The commentary provided shows how Pearce has managed to hack into different aspects of the CtOS, in order to gain funds for himself from another person’s private bank account, or evade the Chicago Police Department if he needs to make a quick getaway.

While you may be disappointed that this isn’t new gameplay as such, we think it is a clever video none the less which expands on what we saw during Sony’s PS4 event. We are already seing plenty of comparisons with the likes of GTA V and Sleeping Dogs and we have a feeling that this is just one example of Ubisoft’s efforts to try and make the game stand out on its own merit.

The video also teases the possibility of Aiden having a mystery person watching over him, which could prove to be an ally or an enemy. The graphics look decent enough, but perhaps a lot of you will be expecting much more when the game is running on PC optimal settings, since Ubisoft has already confirmed PC to be the lead platform of the game.

Watch Dogs is also releasing on Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and the next Xbox so there will be no shortage of platforms to play the game on. Have you decided which version you are getting? Ubisoft are targeting a release before the end of the year, so expect to see the next major reveal at E3 2013.

If you are already set on picking up Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag on day one of release, you’ll want to know that Ubisoft has now confirmed the entire set of limited edition versions of the game that are up for grabs. On offer for those willing to pay a bit extra, is the Black Chest Edition, which comes with a 55cm life-like figurine of main character Edward Kenway.

Aside from the various limited editions available for Assassin’s Creed 4, Ubisoft has also released a brand new gameplay trailer for the upcoming game, and it is well worth a watch if you are looking to pick this up from launch. Just to mention again for those that are not aware, the game is also releasing on the Sony PS4 as well – with a likely release date of October 31st which could end up being the PS4 launch date as well.

The Black Chest Edition of ACIV is the most desirable of all and it’s also the most expensive package available for £120 on all platforms in the UK. Along with the figurine as mentioned above, you’ll also get an exclusive steelbook, artbook, the official soundtrack, 2 lithographs, 2 canvas prints, some pirate booty and a collector’s box to store everything inside.

Perhaps more importantly, you’ll also get every single piece of pre-order content for the game as well, which includes three single player missions, weapons and multiplayer skins. If you want a cheaper package, there is also the Buccaneer Edition, the Skull Edition, a standard Special Edition and a Black Island Pack to tempt you. Details of the content included can be seen over at Polygon here.

At least there’s no danger of Ubisoft not providing enough incentives for the game. Have they perhaps gone a little over the top though with the sheer amount of versions available for the game? The new trailer is excellent though we have to say. Watch it above and let us know if you are tempted to pick up the Black Chest Edition.

Are you starting to get Assassin’s Creed 4 fever yet? The game has now been officially confirmed for a release on both current gen consoles, as well as the next-generation PS4 and likely the next Xbox console as well. October 29 is the big date to look forward to, and we’ve just heard some interesting details on how Ubisoft plan to take full advantage of the new opportunities available with the new DualShock 4 controller for the PS4.

With the addition of a touchpad on the front of the PS4 controller, it now gives developers the chance to create more innovative control schemes for their respective games on the PS4, which they wouldn’t be able to do on other platforms. On top of that, the PS4 controller also features a new Move sensor, allowing for movement tracking directly from the pad which is fed straight to the PS4 camera which will come bundled with the system.

Ubisoft are already thinking of ways to give the PS4 version some added features with the controller, as Assassin’s Creed 4 content manager Carston Myhill has already revealed that they have some ‘very cool ideas’ in store for fans. These ideas will be revealed over the coming months he said, so we’ll have to wait and see just how much touchpad gameplay will be included in Assassin’s Creed 4.

Do you think there is a danger of overdoing it, just because the new technology is there and it will be the first AC game to land on new hardware? Let us know if you would prefer Ubisoft to stick to a standard control scheme for the game, or go completely nuts on schemes that make use of both the motion sensor and touchpad.

As we told you at the end of last week, Assassin’s Creed 4 has already been confirmed by Ubisoft. A full reveal is expected to go live at some point on Monday, but we can tell you that a next-gen trailer for the game has already been leaked – and it’s pretty amazing. If you are looking for some early Assassin’s Creed IV footage to satisfy your hunger, this is surely it.

To repeat, the upcoming game is on the way to current-gen consoles, as well as next gen. This now seems to be a trend, with the likes of Watch Dogs also releasing on both generations, as well as Diablo 3 as confirmed by Blizzard at Sony’s February press conference.

It means that everyone will now get to experience the next entry of Assassin’s Creed regardless of whether you are switching over to next-gen hardware or not, with even the Nintendo Wii U getting a version as well after a successful Assassin’s Creed 3 release. This trailer that we’re about to show you should be going live on Monday, and it also re-confirms the October 29th release date that we revealed last week as well.

Considering that Sony has yet to give an official launch date for the PS4, could it possible that Ubisoft has spilled the release date with their Assassin’s Creed 4 tease? Having the new game as a launch title on PS4 would be a very logical move and October 29 just about falls into Sony’s Holiday 2013 release date schedule – just something to bear in mind.

We are not going to embed it here yet for obvious reasons, but you can watch the next-gen Assassin’s Creed 4 trailer here early. Let the video buffer for a while, sit back and enjoy this lovely glimpse into the future. After watching, let us know your impressions of the graphics on offer – is this truly next-gen we are looking at here?

After a few days of intense speculation, Ubisoft has now gone ahead and officially revealed that Black Flag will indeed be the title of Assassin’s Creed 4. The game is due for a full unveil on Monday, but now we can bring you the official box art, list of platforms so far and some great news for PS3 and prospective PS4 owners.

If you picked up the PS3 copy of Assassin’s Creed 3, you’ll know that it came with 60 minutes of exclusive content comprising of the Benedict Arnold missions. Now, it appears that Sony has managed to acquire the same deal for the next entry, as we can confirm that Assassin’s Creed 4 will also have 60 minutes of content exclusive to the PlayStation versions.

The PS3 box art has been revealed above, showing the exclusive content deal. What we haven’t seen yet though is the PS4 box art, but we’re assuming that the extra content will still apply to the next-gen versions. Aside from PS3 and PS4 versions, AC4 will also be on the way to the Xbox 360, PC, Wii U and the next Xbox as well.

For those hoping that Assassin’s Creed 4 will be a launch title for Sony’s next console, this could well turn out to be a real possibility. The release date of the game is thought to be October 29, while Sony has already said that the PS4 will be launching in the US during the 2013 Holiday Season.

Killzone Shadow Fall and Assassin’s Creed 4 would be two fantastic titles already to pick up. Have a look at the image above and let us know your thoughts on the new pirate-themed game. We’ll let you know more information after Monday’s official reveal. Are you surprised that Sony has managed to get the 60 minutes of exclusive content again?

We have heard critics say that PC gaming will be dead as soon as the next-generation of home consoles arrive, but we’re here to tell you that this definitely isn’t the case just yet. Watch Dogs is being billed as one of the superior next-gen games on the way and PC owners will be very pleased to hear that Ubisoft has made the somewhat surprise move to make PC the lead platform for the game.

What this essentially means for Sony PS4 and future Xbox ’720′ owners is that Watch Dogs will be ported to these consoles based on the PC version – not the other way around as we’ve seen in the past from previous Ubisoft games. Considering the animosity surrounding Ubisoft and the PC community, it’s a surprising outcome we have to say but obviously a pleasing one if it turns into a happy atmosphere in the end.

We told you after Sony’s PS4 event that the footage shown on February 20 on stage, was actually footage coming from the PC version. We still don’t know how the PS4 version will look like in comparison, but PC owners will be happy to hear that they should be getting the most superior version out of all of the platforms that Watch Dogs is due on – there’s quite a few.

While PC will be the lead platform for the highly anticipated open world adventure, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has also said that the PS4 will be a much easier system to port on, thanks to its PC-style architecture and unlike the PS3 which had a completely different setup and was known to be a problem for many developers.

PC owners may have not been interested in Watch Dogs before this, but we can bet that there are a few of you who are now taking notice. Will other developers follow Ubisoft and make the PC lead platform in other games due out on next-gen consoles? Give us your thoughts on this victory for the PC.

If you watched Sony’s PS4 event, you would have seen a brand new gameplay demonstration of Watch Dogs, which has now been confirmed as coming to the PS4 after its initial reveal last year. At the event, Sony said that this was a live demonstration of the game and if you thought it was actual PS4 footage you were seeing, we’re here to confirm to you that this is not the case.

We can tell you that the gameplay of Watch Dogs you saw at the event was in fact, taken from the game running on a PC. Ubisoft confirmed this after Sony’s event had concluded, but did point out that the gameplay you saw is based on what the PS4 hardware will be able produce when Sony are finally ready to show it.

While we saw similar tactics used by Nintendo at their Wii U event, it is a bit unfortunate that Ubisoft and Sony couldn’t at least show of a portion of the game live on stage using the PS4 hardware. The game is now reported to be releasing as a launch title for PS4 during Holiday 2013, which means that development on the PS4 version must be at a pretty far stage by now.

What is also surprising is that the game is on the way to PS3 as well – confirmed. Other platforms confirmed include the PC, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii U as well which will please owners of that console who are looking for more quality third-party game support. As for the footage itself, Watch Dogs is looking even more impressive than what we first saw with the initial footage.

Ubisoft has again placed a big emphasis on the idea that ‘everything is connected’ and you’ll see a rather cool sequence where players will be able to scan random NPCs and hijack their bank accounts to get some quick cash from an ATM. You’ll also be able to reprogram all kinds of electronics in the game, including security cameras and transport systems to avoid a confrontation with the police.

Watch the footage above and let us know your thoughts on the fact that this is PC footage. Are you disappointed that Sony didn’t point this out during the event itself and just had you believe that it was PS4 gameplay on show?

It looks like there is some good news for Wii U owners at last, in specific relation to Rayman Legends and the huge disappointment after the game has been delayed by Ubisoft in order to take the game multi-platform. The developers for the game have announced that a new online mode is coming to Rayman Legends and will be available to download exclusively on the Wii U in a couple of months.

Don’t forget that Rayman Legends is now officially due out on Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii at the same time in September. We told you recently that an exclusive demo was coming in the meantime to Wii U to make up for the delay, but now it looks like this will be replaced by the online mode – which looks a lot more worthwhile and content rich.

This online challenges mode is releasing in April, essentially giving Wii U owners a great head start on the game before Xbox 360 and PS3 owners. The mode will support up to 5 players simultaneously, with users having to complete certain challenges and objectives to compete on the active online leaderboards.

A gameplay demonstration of the online mode has been provided by Ubisoft and gives you a basic idea of what will be coming. The most appealing point that we can see, aside from the glorious graphics, is that challenges are going to be updated daily and weekly, meaning that Wii U owners should have something to keep them busy until the full game is out in September.

The download is also going to be free as well which is fantastic, and will be available from the eShop sometime in April. Has this mended the wounds somewhat in your opinion, or are you still pretty outraged that the higher up execs at Ubisoft still won’t give the green light for the finished game to release?

Either way, we think it’s a pretty good compromise considering it is free. Watch the action and let us know if you have changed your views yet.
