We have some more information for you regarding the European delay of Twisted Metal due to localization issues. The game will be delayed in that region, but still coming out as planned in the US. We now have a confirmation of release dates for those areas.

If you missed the news regarding Twisted Metal, we can remind you briefly by saying that David Jaffe and his team had to suffer a EU delay, due the content of some cut scenes being too violent for European legislation boards.

We previously told you that the game may now be delayed in Europe until March 1st, but now we have a fresh indication from Jaffe himself, that the game will actually be releasing on Wednesday March 7th. For US gamers on the other hand, the release plans are still in tact and you’ll be able to pick up the game on Valentine’s Day – February 14th.

”@GamersZone93TM Game will be released in SCEE territories on March 7th.”

Unfortunately, there won’t be much love shown for EU gamers, as it now means that you’ll receive the game almost one month later, which could be deemed unacceptable for fans of the franchise in the UK and other parts of Europe.

On a side note, you may want to check out one particularly amusing video interview with David Jaffe with GamesRadar. He explains the thinking behind the decision to release on Valentine’s day, plus there’s also a sneak peek look at the local split screen mode, which looks devilishly good.

Gamers in the UK are used to getting shunted when it comes to new game releases, but what are your thoughts on having to wait almost a month after the US get it? We’ve seen one of the cutscenes in question and the level of violence really doesn’t deserve a delay in our opinion. Games like Manhunt maybe, but not Twisted Metal for heaven’s sake. At the end of the day, those of you who really want to play the game at launch can just import a US version, so it isn’t the end of the world.

We have some important news for our readers in Europe who are planning to pick up or pre-order a copy of highly anticipated PS3 exclusive Twisted Metal. The game has unfortunately received a small release delay, but we also have confirmation of content cuts in the European version of the game as well.

Twisted Metal is a franchise known for its odd shades of violence now and again, but it looks like some material featured in the upcoming PS3 game have been deemed too violent by legislation boards. As a result, main man David Jaffe has revealed that the SCEE has cut out some content featured in cutscenes in the European version, so you now may want to make the decision on whether to import the US version instead.

Firstly, it’s important to note that the content cuts were apparently out of David Jaffe’s hands, as if it was down to him, the game would be unchanged for all regions. One particular example of some cuts that will be taken from the EU version can be seen in the intro movie in the game’s story mode. There’s one scene where a girl stabs SweetTooth in the eye and according to Jaffe on Neogaf forums, you won’t see the actual moment when the scissors connect with his face, but all the sound effects are still in tact. We’ve found the video of this below to show how this scene will look in the US version.

Nothing too major here for us, but like we said above, those hardcore fans who want the game in its original state may want to pick up the US version instead. As for the delay, the game will no longer be coming out in February, but will release sometime in March and Jaffe has even hinted that the new date could be March 1st, although not 100% confirmed yet.

What are your thoughts on this? Will you now be searching for an import in light of the cuts being made to the EU version? The game is looking great regardless, we just hope that story mode lives up to expectations following on from the news that online multiplayer will take preference.

We have a update to bring you now on the upcoming PS3 exclusive Twisted Metal. Details on the game have definitely been on the quiet side over the last few months, but with a release coming in just a months time, expect to hear a lot more from SweetTooth and co.

After being the surprise announcement from E3 2010, Twisted Metal was originally scheduled to release in October last year. However, Eat Play Sleep, the company created by David Jaffe decided that the game will benefit from further development and a new date is now scheduled worldwide for Feburary 14th.

Some surprising news on the game trickled out over the weekend, as David Jaffe revealed to a fan that if PS3 owners are buying Twisted Metal primarily for its single player campaign, then they should perhaps try renting the game first rather than buying it. You won’t need us to tell you that this brutal honesty is a rare occurence in the gaming industry these days, especially with the likes of Activision charging expensive sums of money for Call of Duty DLC packs, and EA trying to get away with not including Battlefield 1943 for all Battlefield 3 owners on PS3, although they ultimately gave in after consumer pressure.

Here is a portion of what David Jaffe, also creator of the God of War games had to say on Twitter:

”The game- I feel- is well worth the asking price BUT that’s for folks who love the MP (local same couch 2-4 player split screen or online MP ((1 player full screen online, 2 player split screen online)) )…If you are buying the new TM ONLY or MOSTLY for campaign, might I suggest a rental?”

He added that although the single-player campaign featured in Twisted Metal is the ‘biggest’ that they had ever done, he confirmed that the main focus of the game will be Twisted Metals’ online multiplayer mode. We take our hats off to Jaffe here, although we have a feeling that this may be a day-one purchase for most of you anyway, give the popularity of the legendary franchise.

On a side note, we can also confirm that a demo is coming for Twisted Metal before release. Jaffe confirmed this in another tweet, but he wasn’t sure what date the demo will become available since this side usually depends on when Sony decides to put it on the store. Expect it soon though since we don’t have long to wait until the game is out.

Twisted Metal – day one purchase for you?

We have some good news for those of you who have been patiently waiting for further information on the highly anticipated Twisted Metal reboot for PS3, as we’re pleased to say that Sony has just released a brand new trailer for the game – and it’s pretty nice.

As PS3 fans will know, one of the biggest surprises of E3 2010, was indeed the confirmation of a new Twisted Metal game. Sony and more specifically Eat Play Sleep decided to keep the game a secret, even by telling lies, just to make sure that the game’s unveiling was a surprise and one which would leave a lasting impression on everyone’s minds after E3.

That was the last time we heard anything about the game, until now that is. Sony has released a brand new trailer, showing off unseen gameplay footage from the game and the included cutscenes may even provide hints about the single-player mode. Or it could just be part of the multiplayer – we’re not sure yet.

How badly are you looking forward to the new game? We’ve read some complaints that the graphics are not really that impressive, but they look pretty fine to us based on this new trailer. Don’t forget the game is a fast paced violent racer, so you could argue that the emphasis is not really on whether the graphics are the best looking on the PS3 or not.

Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts on the game. Are you ready to fall in love with Twisted Metal again?

Fans of the Twisted Metal series got a nice surprise at the end of Sony’s E3 conference, when Sweet Tooth rolled out onto the stage in his ice cream truck, with Eat, Sleep, Play co-founders David Jaffe and Scott Campbell to reveal that Twisted Metal would be coming exclusively to the PS3 next year.

Gameplay videos of an early build of the game were shown, and it definitely seems as though this car combat reboot could have potential to be one of the best in the series yet.

Twisted Metal comes with the standard single-player campaign mode, but instead the developers decided to show the 16-player multiplayer support, showing that players will be fighting under different factions rather than single specific players to give the game more of a ‘clan-like-feeling.’

One of the new additions to come to the TM series is the use of flying vehicles, we have only seen the helicopter in use so far, but just think of the possibilities.

Check out the debut trailer below, or you can also watch the video’s from the Sony E3 event, which show exclusive gameplay of the disturbing world of Twisted Metal.
