One of the features that TweetBeat comes with is announcing “the end of hashtags.” Quite a bold statement to make, but it actually works.

TweetBeat does this by scanning all tweets being sent out for all kinds of semantic data, therefore you no longer need to use the hashtag to explicitly tag your tweets.

One example they made is that “disrupt” had amassed almost 64,000 tweets in the past few days for around 11,000 people, with only a very minute percentage actually using the “#tcdisrupt’ tag. But that is no bother for TweetBeat as they found the tweets for you anyway.

According to Kosmix, they scan well over 90 million tweets per day and discover the most interesting topics for you, only picking out the best for you to read.

TweetBeat is also shown in realtime so you get all the interesting news and topics the second they are posted. Kosmix go one further by introducing a slider bar that allows you to pause the timeline and find out exactly when a certain topic started to get hot.

Of course, if you sign in to the website you can also easily retweet and reply to anything you see in the feeds. I’m sure that if TweetBeat gets enough attention, it will take off as a regular stop for all Twitter enthusiasts.
