Samsung today announced the next major update for their popular Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device, with a software update for their TouchWiz UX software. But much like the original launch of the tablet back in June, the only place where you will be able to get your hands on it is in NYC. At first anyway.

Yes, that’s right. Samsung will be primarily offering this new major software update to those who join the official unveiling on Wednesday, August 3 from 11am. The Samsung Experience will take place at The Shops at Columbus Circle, Third Floor where you will finally get a taste of the new fully-customizable Samsung TouchWiz UX software that comes with Live Panel and Mini Apps services.

But as this is a major software update, Samsung are also offering a completely overhauled Samsung Media Hub user interface, Amazon Music Cloud Player, Amazon Kindle & Words with Friends applications, and Enterprise Mobile solutions.

The whole Samsung Experience event that is showcasing this new TouchWiz UX software will start at 11am, where the press will be the first to see the new software in action during the Media News conference that is taking place. Lunch will be provided to those in attendance while you sit and watch the Onsite Galaxy Tab 10.1 Software Updates take over your tablet.

But if you are not a media mogul, don’t fret as just a few hours later at 1pm, the Samsung Experience will open up to the general public where any member who wishes to upgrade the software on their Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, can sit and watch their new experience be side-loaded onto their device.

If you aren’t able to make it to the event yourself, Engadget will be on hand to give you all the details when the event comes around. Remember, Wednesday August 3 is when it is taking place.

If you cast your mind back, Samsung pulled the same stunt when they unenvied the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, in which at noon, at Best Buy, NYC Union Square, the first 200 customers also received a matching leather pouch to store their new ray of sunshine in.

As the NYC release was on June 8 of this year, by June 16 we were already aware that a new updated version of TouchWiz UX was coming to the Samsung Galaxy Tab in a future upgrade, and that time is now.

Are you looking forward to the new TouchWiz UX software? Or are you happy with what you already have?

Although more and more people are buying high-end smartphones like the Apple iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S II these days, there are still people out there that don’t care for high specs and advanced features and just want a simple feature phone.

If you fall into the latter category and you are thinking about buying a new phone, then you’ll be pleased to know that Samsung has just unveiled the new SGH-T528G feature phone. As Kunal at samsunghub.com notes, the handset will be heading to TracFone very soon.

The SGH-T528G features a 3-inch touch screen display and unlike other touch screen handsets that run on the Google Android operating system, the SGH-T528G feature phone actually runs on Samsung’s proprietary OS. It also comes with the TouchWiz 2.0 user interface

It also comes with a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, 3G support and Wi-Fi connectivity for faster and more convenient uploading, downloading and streaming, Bluetooth technology, quick and easy social networking access and a battery that provides up to 6 hours of talk time.

You can learn a bit more about the Samsung SGH-T528G phone over on the Samsung.com website. Are you thinking about buying a new feature phone?

Samsung finally decided to make the fun and affordable S3850 Corby II – a successor of the Samsung S3650 Corby phone – handset official recently, and although the display on the Corby II handset is slightly bigger than its predecessor, it still retains its QVGA resolution.

As recently noted over on the gsmarena.com website, the Samsung S3850 Corby II phone comes with a 3.14-inch display and although the handset is still 2G only (GSM/EDGE/GPRS), it does feature Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0. Just like the first Corby phone, the S3850 features a 2MP camera.

The S3850 – which has a thickness of 11.7mm and a weight of 102 grams – also comes with a microSD card slot, which supports cards of up to 16GB, an FM radio with RDS and a 3.5mm audio jack. The TouchWiz UI appears to have been updated, and now comes with Facebook and Twitter apps pre-installed.

Samsung’s S3850 Corby II phone will be available in a number of colors including Fashion White, Candy Pink and Carnival Yellow. The handset will be launching in Germany sometime in late March, followed by India, China, Asia, Middle East, Africa, CIS, Latin America and Europe at a later date.

You can view images of the Samsung S3850 Corby II phone via the gsmarena.com website. Would you buy a fun, yet affordable phone such as this, or do you prefer the high-end smartphones?
