According to a recent article on TheTechBlog when you upgrade your Folio 100 to firmware version 2.2.5.0053 you should notice improved touch-screen responsiveness, less lag, better pinch-and-zoom capabilities, superior video/audio processing and perhaps enhanced viewability.

Back in November we suggested that both PCWorld and UK consumers were unhappy with the the Folio 100, hopefully this firmware update will make Folio 100 owners more satisfied, however I doubt it will show back up on PCWorld’s shelves.

With CES 2011 less than a week away and plenty of other Android tablets currently available on the market I wouldn’t recommend the Folio 100, there is no access to the Android Market, a lot of annoying bugs and a high price tag, I’m sure we will see something more impressive from Toshiba next week.

The UK retailer PC World are less than happy with the Folio 100, therefore they have given it a huge £999.99 price tag in an attempt to put off customers, apparently they have seen a lot of Folio 100 returns, mainly due to an unpolished version of Android being rolled out, which has bugs and no Android Market access.

It is thought that PCWorld will soon completely pull the Folio 100 from their stores, when we hear official confirmation of this we will keep you posted.

According to Jennifer Allan from electricpig.co.uk, an official release date has now been revealed.

The date this device starts to ship will be from around the second week in November. However, it is only the Folio 100 with integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi that will be arriving this year, as the version with built-in 3G is due sometime in the first quarter of 2011.

As from the launch date and for three weeks after, the Toshiba Folio 100 will only be available at Dixons. After that time, you will then be able to find it at Tesco, Staples and John Lewis.

This Froyo Tablet will be priced at £330 for the first launched version, and if you go for the 3G one coming next year, you may need to add as much as an extra £50. What Tablet PC will you buy?
