Torchlight was a MMORPG originally designed for the PC and was brought to the XBLA as part of Microsoft’s House Party on March 9. President Travis Baldree said “We’re very excited to bring Torchlight to the 360, and have been really gratified by the positive reaction.”

We also covered the story on the release date of Torchlight 2 earlier in this post and it seems like this will be another huge fan favourite too, changes being made to general gameplay and physics are being made which will give way to a greater feel of realism to the game, however there is no word of this one coming to Xbox Live Arcade as yet, but we can hope.

However, as we previously mentioned in our article here, Travis Baldtree – the boss of Runic Games – claimed that the Xbox 360 version would feature quite a few differences to the original PC release, such as a faster combat pace that feels more maneuverable.

Now we are hearing a few more details about the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade release, including the fact that it will feature new perks and content. According to Ishaan over at siliconera.com, the XBLA version of Torchlight comes with new armor sets and weapons and even more quests.

The console version will also reward Xbox 360 gamers with specific perks for fulfilling different criteria. For example if players want the chance to earn an early re-spec potion, they just have to invite a friend to play the Torchlight game. If the friend accepts the invite, they will also receive the potion.

Another perk that will be available for the first two weeks following the game’s release is the Ogre Fish item, which turns your pet into an Ogre indefinitely. What do you think of the new perks, changes and content for the XBLA version of Torchlight? Will it tempt you to download the game?

According to a recent article by Stephany Nunneley over at vg247.com, a video showing a demo of the Torchlight game – which is due to hit XBLA sometime around the end of February/ beginning of March – was shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this past weekend.

The developer Runic Games has recently revealed that there is a possibility of DLC being released for the Xbox 360 version, but only if the game sells well. They also said that they would like to see the Torchlight II game eventually released on the Xbox 360. You can view the demo video here.

We also have a few more details and some screenshots for the Torchlight game, courtesy of Rainier over on the worthplaying.com website. For example, the Xbox 360 edition will feature an Included Editor, which will allow players to create and design their own game content.

According to a vg247.com article by Patrick Garratt, the developer’s president spoke out on the company’s forums recently, and said that there weren’t any PlayStation 3 plans to speak of. Baldtree also revealed a few more details about the upcoming XBLA game.

There are quite a few differences between the upcoming console version and the original PC/Mac version of Torchlight, according to Baldtree. For example, the UI has been completely overhauled, the navigation and art is all new and the combat pace feels faster and more maneuverable.

The developer also confirmed that no skills have been left out of the console version, although some skills have had their functionality updated to make them feel better. Three new armor sets (one for each class) and force feedback have been added to the console version.

Schaefer believes that the reason why they will beat Blizzard to a third installment of their game is because they have an efficient team, and the quick turnaround of the past two Torchlight games is proof of that.

The Runic CEO also told Alexander Sliwinski from Joysiq that Blizzard has an impossible task, as they will make Diablo 3 an epic game and will aim to make it bigger an better than any previous version – and there lies the problem.

Doing this will make it very difficult for them, as they want the next version of Diablo to be perfect, and we all know that takes time. Do you think that Torchlight 3 will beat Diablo 3 to a release?
