As some of you may be aware, the Tokyo Game Show kicked off today in Japan. The video gaming event takes place annually and this year began with a Nintendo 3DS conference. During this conference, Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s President, took the stage to discuss the gender issues that the company has with its 3DS before announcing the new Misty Pink 3DS.

Iwata explained that the company’s 3D capable portable console is mostly used by males and the launch of the new pink model is their way of getting more females interested in it. He announced that it would be launching in Japan October 20th along with some new, female targeted games such as a new Girls Mode title and a sequel to Tomodachi Collection.

Before the reveal, Iwata presented a comparison chart, which represented the sales of their current consoles, including the DS and Wii, amongst the different genders. It showed that the number of female consumers of the 3DS was behind the total number of both the DS and the Wii. The company will be hoping to change this with the launch of this more feminine color handheld.

No details of whether the Misty Pink version of the 3DS will be making its way to the US or Europe were disclosed, meaning that for now it will probably be another Japanese exclusive. We should be used to these by now, as the nation often gets first dibs on the cool stuff. Earlier this year we brought you news of a silver PS3 headed their way, which we are still yet to see in the UK. At least we finally can now finally get our hands on the white PS3.

Will you be getting a Pink Nintendo 3DS?

When the Nintendo 3DS was first released a lack of quality titles for the device was blamed for slow sales to begin with. The company then announced a price cut for the console that saw instant results in sales. Today we have news of the Nintendo 3DS and the Tokyo Game Show 2011, and round up of news for the device with future releases.

Wired.com has been lucky enough to be at the show and is reporting that the console will be getting some major upgrades soon. One of these is the ability to take 3D movies that the company has been working on for a while now. There are also improvements coming for other services such as the eShop, Mii Plaza, and Street Pass.

Nintendo are planning to bring out a Misty Pink version of the 3DS in an attempt to appeal more to female gamers from October 20th. Game wise we already know that Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D are planned for later this year, but some other Mario titles have been announced for the console.

Coming next year will be Mario Tennis that will use the console’s gyro motion sensor; Paper Mario and Luigi’s Mansion 2 are also planned for next year. Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics has also been revealed for next year.

Other titles that are coming next year for the 3DS include Animal Crossing, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Resident Evil: Revelations, Fire Emblem 3D, Tekken 3D Prime Edition, and the company are currently working on Monster Hunter 4 for the 3DS.

We have reported before about the possibility that Nintendo were working on an accessory that would add an extra circle pad for the device. Now Joystiq are reporting the device will be available from December 10th in Japan. It will cost around $19.50 and is called the Slidepad that requires an AAA battery to work.

The Nintendo 3DS could finally prove a success for the company now with a stronger line up of games, and a more affordable price. Do you think the 3DS will be more popular now?

Many of the hardcore gamers out there will be aware that next week marks the start of the Tokyo Game Show, one of the biggest annual game conferences in the world. It is held in Japan and will span over four days as usual, from September 16th until the 19th. Capcom are one of the many games developers who will be taking advantage of the conference and this year they’ve launched a Resident Evil: Revelations trailer ahead of the event.

We have been doing our best to provide our readers with the details revealed about the game up until now. So far we have brought you the gameplay trailer, which was some of the first footage released, we’ve also brought you confirmation that it won’t be available until 2012 for the 3DS and even details concerning co-op mode, which as it turns out will not be a feature in the latest title from the hit horror series of games.

Capcom’s TGS trailer reveals two out of the variety of characters expected to appear in the game, the first is a new female known only as Rachel and the second is the more familiar Jill Valentine. The trailer is set onboard a cruise-ship, seemingly abandoned and of course very dark. As the first character appears, she seems to be investigating the place when she finds a substance she is unfamiliar with. It isn’t long before she discovers a zombie like being which doesn’t die when shot, leaving running as her only option.

According to VG24/7, RE: Revelations sees Chris Redfield and Jill team up once again, in order to try to contain an outbreak, which happens to be on a cruise-ship this time around. The game will be showcased at the Tokyo Game Show next week in the meantime check out the trailer for yourself below.

Are you looking forward to the new Resident Evil title?

If you are planning to tune into coverage of this year’s Tokyo Game Show, you’ll be interested to hear that Sony has just announced details of their press conference at the event, which is obviously one of the main highlights taking place.

It seems like the Tokyo Game Show has come up on the gaming calendar out of nowhere as the electronics giant confirmed that their PlayStation press conference will be taking place on Wednesday 14th September – yes, next week.

Those of you hoping that Kaz Ridgeee Racerrr Hirai will be fronting the keynote are going to be slightly disappointed, as it has been confirmed that Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida will be handled the company’s main speech in Tokyo this year, as reported from VG247.

Highlights of the show are obviously going to include a detailed segment on the PlayStation Vita, as the successor to the PSP is finally ready to launch in Japan and other Asia terrorrities before the end of the year – in November if our previous article this week is to be believed. Hopefully Sony announce some surprises too, such as some new game announcements, possible exclusive content on upcoming titles and maybe even some new footage of highly anticipated titles such as The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Collossus since they are both being handled by the same Japanese studio.

Don’t forget it is a waste of time getting your hopes up on seeing Final Fantasy Versus XIII at the event, as Square-Enix has already confirmed that the infamous RPG won’t be shown at the event – much to our disappointment.

However, on a much more positive note, Sony has also confirmed that there will also be a live stream of their event, so you’ll be able to catch everything live as it happens – click here for the link. Are you expecting any surprises from Sony’s press conference this year or not?
