If you are intending to pick up the new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword game for the Nintendo Wii this Friday then we have some news that you should pay attention to as it will save you some pennies. To celebrate the release of the action-adventure fantasy game, GAME has announced they will be giving away a free copy to Link impersonators.

The game retailer will be giving the free copy to the first 100 customers who turn up to their Oxford Street launch in the UK on Friday 18th November dressed as the hero from Hyrule. The store opens at 9am but if you’re hoping to be one of the 100 it is recommended that you get down there quite a bit earlier as it is likely to be rammed full of other Link impersonators.

As ONM explains, GAME will also be hosting a trial for fans of the game who wish to try it out before they buy it, which will be set in a mediaeval forest glen themed section of the store. GameStation will also be hosting the trial at their stores as of Saturday 19th November in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow and at the Prospect Centre in Hull.

Earlier today we brought you news of a live stream event for the game that will be taking place on Sunday. It is mainly aimed at the fans in the US as they will not be able to get the game until that day and this will give those involved a preview of what to expect from the game. Those in the UK who are still unsure whether they will buy it or not by then can take advantage of the live stream preview to help them decide.

Will you be heading to GAME dressed as Link tomorrow?

If you are thinking of picking up the long awaited Skyward Sword Zelda game, we have some fantastic news for you now. An official live stream event of the game will be taking place on Sunday, and we have details on how you can join in on the fun for the best preview you’ll ever see.

For those of you that don’t know, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword releases on the Nintendo Wii this Friday, November 18 in Europe, but fans in the US will have to wait until Sunday to get their hands on the latest title in the long-running franchise.

If you haven’t been keeping up with development on Skyward Sword, you’ll probably be very interested in watching a live stream of the game which will give you a clear idea on if you should purchase it or not. 1UP has announced that they will be staging a two-hour live stream gameplay event, which will take place this Sunday to mark the US release and it will happen at 10.30 Pacific Time. That is 1.30pm for those of you on Eastern Time for those that are wondering.

Even if you are not too interested in the game, you should still tune into the event anyway, as 1UP will also be giving away a copy of the game to one lucky winner. Reviews are now coming out for Skyward Sword, and just like every other Zelda game in history, stellar reviews are coming in thick and fast, with the likes of Game Informer, IGN and Japanese publication Famitsu all giving the game top marks, yes even Famitsu which doesn’t happen too often.

We’ll be giving you a proper review roundup soon, but for now let us know how much you are looking forward to playing Skyward Sword. Will you be tuning in to this live stream before buying the game, or will you just go out and buy it regardless? P.S If you can’t wait until Sunday, you may want to search online for other live streams, as we have seen a few online already.

We have some very surprising news to bring you now, as a recent survey conducted by huge US media research firm Nielsen has revealed the results of a poll asking gamers which games they are mostly looking forward to playing during the Christmas period – there’s definitely some shockers involved.

For a start, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is way down the list, only coming in at 15th position out of a possible 20 games! Considering how amazing Skyrim looks and overwhelming public feedback showing support for the game, we find it very hard to believe that it could be placed towards the bottom of list, especially when you take a look at some of the games that are apparently more popular.

Games that beat Skyrim in terms of a ‘Christmas Wish List’ include the likes of FIFA 12, Just Dance 3, Batman Arkham City, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Madden NFL 12 and wait for it, LEGO Harry Potter – yes we’re serious. Top of the list and probably unsurprisingly was Modern Warfare 3, but one or two eyebrows may be raised when you find out that Battlefield 3, arguably more anticipated than Modern Warfare 3 in some gamers eyes, only came ranked in at 7th position.

Out of 5,000 of those surveyed, 27% of participants selected Modern Warfare 3 as their number one game to own this Christmas, while a paltry 8% opted to choose Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. This is a real head-scratcher for us, and it does put the authenticity of Nielsen’s survey up for debate. If you are planning to pick up Skyrim this year, give us your thoughts on the results – are you a bit shocked?

No disrespect to LEGO Harry Potter fans, but there is something suspect going on when it ranks higher than a game with the calibre of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion as a predecessor and even higher than FIFA 12 too – probably the best football game for a decade. Read the full list at Nielsen’s website here for your reference, courtesy of Industry Gamers.
