Besides having their back catalogue available on iTunes, it now appears that the Beatles have an official iOS app that’s based on the Cirque du Soleil musical LOVE.

As Stuart Dredge over at crave.cnet.co.uk recently reported, The Beatles LOVE app – which is now available to download for free from the Apple App Store – features a mixture of news, photos and video clips, as well as exclusive ticket offers for those who want to go and see the show in Las Vegas.

The app is aimed at promoting the LOVE show (based in the Mirage casino) and the Altogether Now documentary, which is all about the Cirque du Soleil show. The app also includes 30-second preview clips for all the songs on The LOVE album, which has recently been added to iTunes.

It also provides links to Apple’s digital music store, just in case you want to buy the full songs. The Beatles LOVE app also enables users to comment on songs and sign up to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, so you can tell your friends what you think of it.

As noted on the itunes.apple.com website, the app is compatible with the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and requires iOS 3.1.2 or later. The app is available in many languages, including Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, German, Korean and English.

Fans can see intimate behind-the-scenes look at what went on in the life of The Fab Four in the sixties including, their favorite teenage hangouts. Alf Bicknell was their trusted bodyguard and chauffer, so fans can trust the information to be accurate. See their early beginnings and how Beatle mania began, and find out things like what happened when they jammed with Elvis Presley, and how John met Paul.

Beatles Diary 1.0.1 is available worldwide on the App Store for only $4.99. Requires iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad with iOS 3.1.3 or later.

According to statistics, the most common songs were “Hey Jude,” “Twist and Shout,” and “Let It Be,” whereas they shied away from “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and “Strawberry Fields.”

The Beatles songs have been made available for just one day so far from the iTunes store, and already have 31 entries, some of which are doubled due to being available on multiple albums.

The list of Beatles songs can be found via The Guardian who have listed the placement of all songs in the iTunes top 200.

But many of you seem to be disappointed with the latest Apple announcement. Yesterday, Apple splashed their home page with a message that stated “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget.”

Many thought it would be a big iOS 4.2 or Verizon iPhone announcement, but that did not seem to be the case. Why would that be splashed on the iTunes front page anyway?

Regardless of rumors, we are here to tell you about the app from Sir Paul and Apple. It can be yours for just $0.99, and has a large quantity of McCartney songs — all complete with his lyrics, and videos so you don’t have to go searching the web anymore.

I hate to be negative here, but I just think that Apple lost some of its credibility with a statement like that.

We had assumed that Apple would announce something huge, such as iTunes Cloud or even Apps for Apple TV, so you can see why I am left disappointed, and I am sure that I am not the only one?

Do not get me wrong, I love The Beatles, but I already have their CDs, and they are now stored in digital format on my external hard drive so I can create a new playlist on my iPhone as I please.

Did this news really deserve to take over the entire homepage of Apple? I can think of so many other things that Apple could have done with all that space. We all seem to be missing something here, what about iOS 4.2, what happened to that?

I am sorry, I am just going on a bit here, but you can see just how angry I am about this – I feel let down.

There are 16 albums for you to buy, all of which can be purchased individually for $12.99 / £10.99 each, however if you prefer you can buy the whole box set for $149 / £125. You can also buy individual songs for $1.29 / £0.99 each.

If you load up iTunes and click on the iTunes store you will see a huge amount of The Beatles content, Apple has even added a highlight reel and live concert for you to watch.

If you head over to Apple.com you can see a black and white photo of The Beatles on the homepage, above the picture it simply says “The Beatles. Now on iTunes”.

There are a number of other services that could, which we recently discussed, but there could be a little surprise, and that is The Beatles.

We all know how Steve Jobs has been trying for years to get the back catalog of the Fab Four, and it looks as though all that persistence could have finally paid off. We are still uncertain if this is fact or not, but WSJ reports that their sources have almost but confirmed this.

Beatles songs do not appear on any legal download service, so is an untapped income for the EMI Group Ltd., The Michael Jackson Foundation and surviving members of the group. If this does happen today, then we could see Apple servers go into meltdown.

The Beatles is still a huge deal in the music industry, and iOS users will love to download some of their favorites songs onto their iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
