Test Drive Unlimited 2 (TDU2): New ‘Exploration Pack’ DLC on Way

We have some pretty exciting news for all you Test Drive Unlimited 2 (TDU2) fans out there right now, as we’ve just learned that the new ‘Exploration Pack’ is on the way. Not only does the upcoming DLC bring some great new content, but it also brings a number of improvements and fixes.

According to a recent article by Joseph Peterson over at playstationlifestyle.net, the upcoming DLC pack will provide users with 20 new events, 2 new event types, 20 brand new wrecks that give 2 new cars, 2 new discovery levels, 3D on both the PC and PlayStation 3 and 2 new multiplayer races.

As mentioned above, the update brings a number of gameplay improvements to the Test Drive Unlimited 2 game. For example, players will now be able to sell their cars in the used car dealer including cars won in duels, and the effects of collisions with trees and rocks should now be less severe.

The instant challenges have also received a tweaking, and now excludes very long or very short races. Gamers should also find that the session lost message is more descriptive. The upcoming update will also enable players to cancel on the search games loading screen.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 players have been reporting a number of issue since the game first launched back in February, and the new update addresses many of the said issues including the issue where cars were sometimes turning invisible. Collision problems have also been fixed.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 Update: List of Problems Fixed

Yesterday we told you that free DLC was coming to Test Drive Unlimited 2, now we can confirm that the game’s developer has completed an update for the game, it has already gone live on PC and should be rolled out on Xbox Live and the PSN soon.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 has been out in North America since February 8th, since then a whole host of problems have been frustrating gamers, thanks to all of the feedback from the community a lot of bugs should soon be fixed.

According to the TDU2 forums a lot of issues will be resolved once the update has arrived, such as improved logging into the game, improved online stability, better population of friends, a better invite system, improved Casino access, money exploits have been patched and clubs have been brought back online.

Perhaps the most annoying problem was that game saves were corrupting for some gamers, this should no longer happen, also if your game save has already corrupted it may be automatically repaired.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 DLC: Exploration Pack is Free

Test Drive Unlimited 2 has now been out a couple of weeks and we have heard a lot of reports suggesting that the game is far from perfect, Eden Games has now revealed that they will release a free DLC pack to show their appreciation for the game’s loyal players who have been bearing with a lot of TDU2 problems.

According to the Test Drive Unlimited 2 forums, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers will be able to download the Exploration Pack for free, this consists of new wrecks that will unlock the 1969 Dodge Charger and the Lancia Stratos version Rallye.

Eden Games claim that feedback from the community has proven to be very useful and helped them identify and resolve a lot of common issues, an update for all platforms should be rolled out shortly.

It is nice to hear that developers are giving something back to gamers, however skeptics would say that gamers are buying an incomplete product and having to beta test it for the developers, what do you think?

Test Drive Unlimited 2 Review Round-Up: Pros and Cons

Eden Games’ much-anticipated Test Drive Unlimited 2 game finally made its way into North American stores recently and as expected, we are starting to see the very first reviews come in. We thought we’d take a brief look at a few of these reviews, and weigh up the pros and cons.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 – just like the first game – sees players once again exploring the whole of the Hawaiian island of Oahu. However, according to Mr. Pinkerton over at metro.co.uk, gamers also get to drive around the island of Ibiza, where they even get their own clubhouse and customized races.

While Mr. Pinkerton praises the Test Drive Unlimited 2 game for having a good range of cars, a fantastic island atmosphere and good online features, he does go on to note that the graphics can sometimes be patchy and the handling of the cars is not realistic. His overall score was 7/10.

In the meantime, Michael Menzel over at game-pad.net says that although the Test Drive Unlimited 2 game doesn’t have the best graphics he’s seen in recent racing games, they do come pretty close. He also notes that the full day/night cycle and random weather patterns make it more enjoyable to play.

Michael gave the TDU2 game an overall score of 8.7/10, describing it as a solid racing title. The final review comes from Steven Williamson over at psu.com. Steven gave the game an overall score of 8/10, and noted that its social featured will make you want to come back and play it more.

Test Drive Unlimited 2: New Trailer Shows Car Customization

We have a bit of exciting news now for all you PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 gamers out there who are waiting on the arrival of the Test Drive Unlimited 2 game, as Atari and Eden Games have just released yet another trailer for the much-anticipated racing title.

This follows on from the previous trailer they released last week, which as we previously mentioned here showed off the character customization element of the game. Gamers will not only be able to customize their in-game characters and living space, but now it appears their vehicles as well.

According to Oliver over on the el33tonline.com website, the newly-released trailer shows us just a few of the car customization possibilities in Test Drive Unlimited 2. Players will be able to customize their cars to the way they want, by changing things such as the body color, decals and interior.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be arriving in North American stores on February 8th, while European, UK and South African gamers will be able to purchase it from February 11th. Test Drive Unlimited 2: Character Customization Trailer Revealed

PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 gamers may not have that much of a wait now until they can start playing the much-anticipated Test Drive Unlimited 2 game, but that doesn’t appear to have stopped both Atari and Eden Games from releasing a brand new trailer for the upcoming title.

As Oliver from el33tonline.com recently reported, a new character customization trailer has just surfaced online, showing us just how players can personalize their whole gaming experience. Not only can they customize their character, but also their living space.

The Test Drive Unlimited 2 game – which also features an “out of car” mode to allow you to socialize with other online players – will be available from February 8th in North America and February 11th in Europe. Besides a new trailer, Atari has also released the full car list for TDU2.

According to a recent automoblog.net article from Chris Burdick, the full list of cars includes the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, Ascari A10, Aston Martin DB9 Coupe, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, Ferrari 612 Sessanta, Ferrari Enzo and the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition.

Test Drive Unlimited 2: How To Get Beta Access Before Release

Earlier this month we revealed some pretty impressive-looking screens for the upcoming racer Test Drive Unlimited 2, we now have more exciting news, Atari are now offering sign-ups for online beta testing.

At the moment it is unclear what platforms the beta will be hitting, however I would imagine all three versions (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360) would benefit from public testing before it’s proper release in late September.

If you would like to apply for the beta you must first sign-up to a free atari.com account, this can be done here, once registered check out this page to apply and find out all of the relevant details.

We are currently unsure when the beta will be taking place, therefore we will keep you posted, chances are it will last 3-5 weeks, depending on how smoothly testing goes.
