You may have already heard that Getaround has been making a success of hiring cars. Now some of you may wonder what is so different to these and the likes of Hertz etc? Well the main difference is that they offer a peer-to-peer service, so if you have a car that you do not use, then you can make it available for others. No other service would allow a Tesla Roadster rental for such a great price.

The Roadster is not the only high-end vehicle to be offered at a great price, you can also get to drive BMW’s etc. However, one would expect that the Tesla would be one of the more popular, as we can get to see how great of a car it really is. This new Start-up has been set up for two reasons, the first is obviously to make the owners money, and the second is not letting good cars go to waste.

We say this because a huge percentage of our cars spend most of their time outside our house or place of work. To us that does seem like a waste of money; just consider how much it has cost you to purchase your vehicle and how much work went into building it. Getaround hopes to solve this issue.

Could this finally be the start of something that could help get the economy back on track? More often than not people need to have the use of a car, but can never seem to find the one that they want. However, the biggest issue is with how long you would need a car for. More often than not a person only needs to hire a car for a few hours, but have to hire it for a day minimum. Well Getaround allows you to rent a car for an hour or longer at a time.

However, the longer the hire the cheaper it will work out in the long-term. Prices start at just $3 per hour, but that will not get you far with a Tesla Roadster, as that baby will cost you $50 per hour. However, that is much better than paying $109,000, which works out at 2,180 hours of rental or three months.

If you were lucky enough to buy a Roadster or any other new car, then why not let it earn money for you while it sits around all day. It is said that you could earn around $350 each month my just renting your car out for 15 hours per week. It will only take 1 minute to set up an account; it’s as easy as that so join here.

Back in 2008 Top Gear got their hands on the Tesla Roadster, the electric vehicle was tested out by Jeremy Clarkson and resulted in the car being pushed into the garage supposedly out of charge, Tesla has now sued Top Gear claiming that this was malicious falsehood.

According to Tesla they supplied Top Gear with two Roadsters and both returned with a least 25% charge, if true this means that Top Gear pushing the Roadster back to the garage was staged.

The BBC released a statement showing their support for Top Gear on the matter, here is what they had to say “the BBC stands by the programme and will be vigorously defending this claim”.

Anyone who watches Top Gear knows that some of the events seen in the television series sometimes seem a bit staged an unbelievable, however doing this at the expense of a company’s flagship vehicle would not be fair, we do not know who we should believe about this matter, therefore we will have to see what the courts decide.

If you head over to Engadget you can watch a video showing the segment of TopGear which showed the Roadster being pushed back to the garage. We will keep a close eye on the matter and keep toy up-to-date as we find out more.

Do you think Top Gear are in the wrong?

The Tesla Roadster is not only one of the most fuel-efficient cars, but also one of the top 8 electric vehicles as well. We wonder if the Tesla Model S will follow in its footsteps? Well looking at the Alpha test video below it is hard to imagine why not, and it certainly has the specs and features to back it up.

One of the most important features of a car is its aerodynamics, and it is even more important on an EV, as you need to try and squeeze every amount of miles out of that electric motor. While watching the video you can see two things, the car is quiet and seems to look glued to the road.

Even though the car is on the large side, it will handle much better than most cars of its size, and that is just what Tesla wanted to achieve with the Alpha S. More testing will go on over the next few months, so we can expect a few more exciting videos. It is good to know that there is a carmaker out there who is not afraid to push the boundaries of car design and the fuel-source needed to power it.

The Tesla Model S will have a top speed of 121mph and a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds. Where this car differs to standard gasoline cars is the instant torque and the acceleration always there when you need it. What is amazing about this model is how it can fit five adults and 2 children, so 7 people in total.

The Model S has a range of 160, 230, or 300 miles and a QuickCharge only takes 45 minutes. For more details visit the official Tesla Motors website.

With Tesla introducing two new stores in Denmark and California, the electric sports car manufacturer has also lifted the covers on their fourth edition of its Roadster. Named the Roadster 2.5, it gets treated to a restyling on the front and the rear.

Out the front sits a redesigned grille, while out the back a new rear bumper encapsulates diffuser. On the inside the interior has been reshaped and the addition of a seven-inch touch screen display works in conjunction with the reverse camera.

At the moment it doesn’t look like the electric powerplant will change, and as yet there are no reports on pricing. Tesla’s goal has always been to produce affordable electric cars to the mainstream and this new version is no exception. Hit the link below to see more pictures and Tesla full press release.

The idea of clean car technology hitting off soon is false, so you people should not be swept up by all the hype that surrounds it. The news that Tesla Motors has an IPO is the latest automaker trying to sell to investors this clean tech, but its future looks bleak.

Heidi N. Moore, contributor from Wall Street Blog believes that Tesla gives us false promises, but this did not stop its first day as an IPO from being a success. TSLA shares were estimated at $14 to $16, but they opened at $17. They went up and down throughout the days and settled at $19 – today is thought to be pretty much the same but we cannot see this same pattern carry on

There is no denying that the Tesla Roadster and sports are great cars, but paying more than $100,000 seems a lot for what you get. We wonder this is just another fad considering a few Hollywood stars have one.

Moore believes that this clean technology is still in its infancy and not ready for primetime. Let me clarify on this, yes the tech is there to be had for consumers to enjoy but as investments go – investors will not want to commit to such tech for the long term.

We touched on the issue of the first day of Tesla Motors TSLA IPO earlier this evening, so we thought we would take another look now that Nasdaq has come to a close. The first day of trading was seen as a huge success for the company, the main reason being that its starting point was much higher than expected.

The starting price was $19 to $21.89, that’s 30 percent higher than the $17 estimate last night. Value of Tesla Motors now stands at $2 billion – not bad for a company that makes just two vehicles, the Roadster and the Roadster Sport. However, we recently reported that other models are coming.

There were fears that the all-electric car company was going to get off to a poor start, but it seems that the A-list Hollywood showing at the recent roadshow did the image of the company a whole load of good. Something has to have worked for them – considering the rest of the market was pretty poor.

Tesla or TSLA as it is known on the stock market was still climbing as of close today, but Camille Ricketts from VentureBeat expects this pattern to carry on for days if not weeks – only until the media interest dies down.

How do you think the next few days will go for Tesla and its stock price?

We mentioned yesterday that Tesla Motors Inc.’s was to float on the stock market; we can now tell you that this has taken place and their name is under TSLA. It had been assumed that their IPO would be higher than expectations – and analysts were right.

Matt Jarzemsky from Dow Jones Newswires has said on WSJ that shares were thought to sell for $14 to $16 each, but the actual initial public offering was $17 per share – with 13.3 million being made available. Tesla now hopes that they will be able to attract investors looking for greener vehicles – although the high price of their vehicles have put customers off, so investors could see this as a bad opportunity.

After TSLA shares go up for offer there will still be 93 million left, these could go up for sale at a later date. Tesla has now been selling its electric Roadster for two years now, but a lack of models has affected sales.

However, we recently reported that the company is to launch a whole new range all based on the same platform as the Roadster. Once they can do this then we should see healthy sales of the all-electric vehicles.
