There are a number of stores in the United Kingdom where you can get the Nexus 7, although some potential buyers could be waking up today and want to know what store has the best Nexus 7 UK price? The selection of stores is much smaller than you would see with an iPad launch, Comet is one retailer that doesn’t have stock of the Nexus 7 online or even a product page, but you will find Tesco and Dixons stocking the new Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) tablet right now.

When it comes to price you won’t see any stores undercutting each other by much, so you should expect to pay around £199.99 in all UK stores, although if you see any crazy deals let us know in the comments. You can find the Dixons Nexus 7 product page here, which states a “Next day delivery” at the time of writing. Tesco’s Nexus 7 page can be found here and are offering a price that is almost £1 cheaper, which also includes 199 Clubcard points and the tablet is in stock. It is worth noting that you can pick up in store as well, which is thanks to their “Click and Collect” service.

If you order the Nexus 7 online from the UK you can expect a delivery date within a couple of days, although this might change if the new tablet starts to sell out through high demand, so consider ordering as soon as possible or picking up in store if you really want one. If you find any stores running out of stock please share a comment, also with the location of that store.

We’ve included a video below this article for those of our UK readers that don’t know much about the Nexus 7 tablet and specs, although this is the official video from Google, so expect it to sing and dance about how good the device is. You can see an independent review of the Nexus 7 via our earlier article, but this also shouts mostly praise for the new tablet when comparing it to the Kindle Fire. It’s fair to say the Nexus 7 has received positive remarks from most technology blogs, although there have been some major issues in the US over shipping and this can be seen in the many comments here.

Are you looking at picking up a Nexus 7 in the UK today? Considering the Nexus 7 is the first tablet to get Jelly Bean we look forward to seeing consumers react to this Android update.

We’re just 3 hours away from the new iPad 3 receiving a midnight launch in selected UK stores, although you’ll be lucky to find a local Apple Store offering the new iPad on the release day from midnight. You can see in the photo above that over 250 Tesco stores will offer the 3rd generation iPad from midnight tonight.

Main features of the new iPad include ultra-fast wireless, a 5-megapixel iSight camera, and the best display on any mobile device thanks to Apple’s Retina technology. Thousands of people preordered right after the recent Apple event, although those that wanted to be one of the first to pick up the new iPad will be at UK stores within the next 3 hours.

We cannot confirm if other UK retailers are selling the new iPad from midnight, although there is a good chance, so if you manage to grab one tonight from a store other than Tesco let us know in the comments.

The moment the clock ticks 00:01 in the next few hours you’ll be able to pick up a new iPad inside Tesco, and we spoke to our local store to check stock, which seemed pretty limited with people already hanging around for the midnight launch.

Apple’s new iPad from the recent event – Apple didn’t stream the new iPad launch event this year, although the keynote video went live on Apple’s official website within hours of the event finishing. Most UK preorders saw shipment notifications around 5 days ago, although it looks like they will deliver on time tomorrow. Let us know if you got yours early?

Mass Effect 3 is already out in the US of course, but if you are just waking up in the UK and planning to pick up the game, you’ll be...

Mass Effect 3 is already out in the US of course, but if you are just waking up in the UK and planning to pick up the game, you’ll be unsurprised to hear that supermarkets have once again beat off competition from retailers in the ongoing price wars.

The supermarket vs retailer price wars first seemed to kick off with the likes of Modern Warfare 2 and FIFA 11, but for many gamers these days, supermarkets are the number one option for picking up their favorite games on day one. This has become even more apparent with the ongoing crisis regarding GAME as it has been confirmed that they won’t be stocking Mass Effect 3 in any of their stores.

As sad as this is, it won’t deter too many of you who were planning to pick up the game from supermarkets anyway. Places like Morrisons, Asda and Tesco are now the topic of conversation amongst gamers and we’ve seen that Tesco may have the best offer available.

The game is retailing in supermarkets and online from places like Play.com and Amazon for around £38, but most of you bargain spotters have also noticed that there is a promo code available at Tesco, which allows you to buy the game online with a £5 discount. That means that you can pick up the Xbox 360 or PS3 version for just £32.70, which really is a fantastic deal.

Amazon are usually spot on when it comes to beating their competitors with the best price as we saw with the PS Vita launch, but they are yet to lower their price to reflect the deal that Tesco are offering. It doesn’t bode well for GAME and Gamestation when you see supermarkets go out of their way to cut them out of the picture, but from a customer perspective it doesn’t really matter too much, as long as you are getting the game for as less as possible.

What are your thoughts on Tesco undercutting everyone on Mass Effect 3 – do you feel a little bit sorry for GAME and their situation or not? Let us know where you picked up the game from.

Later tonight Sony will be releasing the PS Vita in other regions outside of Japan for the first time. We have already given you details about some midnight launch plans for the device. We now have a PS Vita price comparison that includes Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury.

Just over a week ago we rounded up some of the best bundle deals available for the PS Vita via some online retailers. But there are some great deals to be had if you want to pop down to your local supermarket. Just like big game releases the buying power of the big supermarkets is showing with some of the prices for the device.

First up what could be the cheapest price available is Asda, who have the Wi-Fi only version of the PS Vita listed for only £197. You only get the console and nothing else for that price except but it’s still pretty impressive. There will be stores open at midnight for you to pick up the device and at that price stock could run out pretty quickly.

Rival store Tesco have the same Wi-Fi version priced at £229.91 but are also listing a bundle deal for £249.80. In the bundle you will also get a 4GB PS Vita memory card along with a choice of a game from a selection that includes FIFA Football, Asphalt Injection, F1 2011, Virtual Tennis 4, and Rayman Origins.

Sainsbury’s have the PS Vita Wi-Fi version listed at £229.99 with no special incentives on offer like it does when launching new game titles. All the major branches of the supermarkets are open 24 hours so you should be able to pick one up tonight.

For memory cards Asda is listing the 16GB version at £37, while Tesco has it priced at £39.91. The 4GB versions are priced at £15 and £19.89 respectively. Many of you will have already preordered your PS Vita from an online retailer so can look forward to a delivery tomorrow, unless it came early and you are busy playing already.

Where will you be getting the PS Vita and what launch titles are you getting?

Ever wanted to be able to pick up and inspect a product while browsing online, well now you virtually can thanks to a new trial that UK supermarket giant Tesco is holding. They have just begun testing the use of augmented reality technology to show products to their customers in order to help them preview them.

The use of AR technology also gets round the problem that the company sometimes has of not being able to display all their products from every range. As The Inquirer explains, 3D rendered models of the products will be able to be viewed instead so a customer can get a clear perspective of what they are after. This model can be manipulated any which way the wish as if they were actually holding the product.

The trial will be run in only six different Tesco Extra stores. These are located in New Malden, Hatfield, Cheshunt, Milton Keynes Kingston, Borehamwood and Wembley and will remain there at least until the end of the year. Weekly reviews will provide the company with feedback and will give them an idea of how much the technology is in demand.

The way in which the system works is customers must print out an AR card or marker and hold it up to a webcam. The selected product is then showed on the screen where the AR card is. For the moment the technology is limited to only a certain amount of products, such as DVDs, games, Lego models and Samsung TVs, as it’s just a trial run. The technology is provided by Kishino and makes Tesco the only supermarket in the world to integrate its use.

Would you like to see the use of augmented technology become more permanent in supermarket use?

As more consumers become the owners of smartphones, the need for internet access on the move becomes important. Many people have data plans bundled in their monthly deals but if you can get a free Wi-Fi signal it saves you using up your data. Now residents in the UK could soon get free Wi-Fi as they buy their Tesco groceries.

Chris Martin of the Inquirer is reporting in an article that the company is set to offer the service to its customers which will be a first for a British supermarket. The country’s biggest retailer is looking to take on consumers changing shopping habits, and give its trade in the country a boost.

Offering consumers free Wi-Fi may be a risky move in a way, as it will make it easier for customers to use various smartphone applications to compare prices with rival retailers. Tesco’s chief information officer Mike McNamara said though that customers are already using mobile technology to check supermarket prices.

The company is already experimenting with a Wi-Fi service in four of its stores, and if it proves to be successful will find its way to other stores across the country. McNamara said “my guess is it will go to all stores”. He added the service would be free, and much of the technology was already in place as the company already uses Wi-Fi inside its stores for its own operations.

Tesco would also be looking to expand the service to its operations outside of the UK. The company would become the biggest retailer in the UK to provide such as service, while in the US many large store groups already have a similar service. Tesco have 2,700 stores across the country and if rolled out will massively expand the number of free Wi-Fi hotspots.

Currently places such as McDonalds and Starbucks have access to free Wi-Fi for its customers, but it is thought retailers could be the next to jump on the bandwagon. Many consumers whether going for a coffee or staying at a hotel now expect to have access to free Wi-Fi for their laptops and smartphones.

This sort of service will please many consumers who access the internet in places not thought of years ago. As consumers we are more reliant on the internet for things such as online banking and shopping. Do wish there were more free Wi-Fi hotspots available?

Last week when the Nintendo 3DS was launched we told you of the cheapest place to get your hands on the device. Tesco at the time were offering the best deal on the console, and staff at rival retailer Game took advantage of this by buying stock from the supermarket giant.

An article over at EuroGamer by Wesley Yin-Poole is reporting that staff at Game we asked to take advantage of Tesco’s launch day offer. The store were selling the 3DS for only £175 on condition you also purchased a 3DS game at the same time. An internal document which you can see on EuroGamer, states that Game cannot match Tesco’s price for the device.

The consoles which were purchased from Tesco were only sold as pre-owned after all of Games own stock run dry. They priced the stock from Tesco at between £5 and £10 cheaper than their own which was selling at £219.99.

Each store was authorized to use £1049.50 for purchasing the console bundles from Tesco, which means five bundles per store. Game have since said the idea wasn’t compulsory and was used to boost the stores own stock of the 3DS, and “happened in small volumes.”

Tesco has since responded to the news and told EuroGamer that they want to give customers “the best value”. Game may not have been the cheapest place to buy from, but they couldn’t be expected to compete with a retailer the size of Tesco. At least buying extra stock from another retailer meant it had more units for its own customers.

Do you think Game were wrong to buy stock from Tesco?

With only a few hours to go for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops, supermarket giant Asda has declared it their biggest games launch of all time. But will Asda and the other retailers have enough stock to meet demand?

James Batchelor of MCV is reporting that Asda says it has unprecedented stock level for the imminent launch, and far beats any video game released so far. Asda’s games buyer – Alastair Islip – posted on the company’s Aisle Spy blog that “We are putting more stock into store than we have ever done before on a gaming launch, so hopefully no-one will be disappointed.”

He added “Clearly we can make no guarantees but it has been our mission to make sure that we don’t go off sale on COD at launch.” The supermarket has decorated several of their stores entertainment departments with COD-branded display units, and are offering Black Ops for £36.97.

We reported recently that rival retailer Sainsbury are offering the game for only £27.97 if you spend £30 or more instore, with the standalone price of £37.97. Tesco are offering the game for £39.99.

Let us know what the stock levels where like at your local store.
