You don’t need to be reminded how successful Temple Run was when it first launched on iOS then later on Android devices; and as you would expect a sequel came along and also proved very popular on both platforms. However, if you are a Windows Phone user you will know this app has evaded you so far.

Thankfully your calls for the ever-popular game has been answered, but if you were hoping to skip the original and see Temple Run 2 release on Windows Phone, then we are sad to say this has been overlooked. It seems strange why the game developer will want to offer such an old version of the game on this new platform, but maybe this is a way to get users wanting more?

As yet there is no word as to when the sequel will be made available to Windows Phone users, but we imagine Imangi would give it several months to gauge a reaction from users to see how popular it is. However, we fear Temple Run is so old such a late release may backfire on the developer.

The price for the original Temple Run on the Windows Phone Store will be $0.99 when released a little later today. Do you believe WP will always be behind when it comes to apps like these, or do you believe they will soon release in unison with iOS and Android?

We knew that Temple Run 2 would be popular, but the newly released sequel has already gone and smashed some records previously held by Angry Birds. The game by Imangi Studios has sold a combined 50 million downloads in the space of just 13 days, taking into account the combined downloads across Android, iOS and Kindle platforms.

If you have already downloaded Temple Run 2, it’s easy to see why as well. The game is even better than the first in our opinion, improving on almost every aspect of the first game which was already a massive success. The addition of character unlock abilities that regenerate, better animations and even mine cart levels makes Temple Run 2 the perfect 10 minute game when you are travelling on public transport with some free time to burn.

Angry Birds is obviously a popular franchise in its own right, but Rovio may need to come up with their next big plan if they are going to stop Temple Run 2 from running away in the popularity contest. In comparison, Angry Birds Space managed 50 million downloads in the space of 35 days in April of last year.

How long will the Temple Run 2 addiction last though? The game features a lot more longevity than the first which is great to see, and of course the ability to record monster scores with the gem feature added that lets you restart where you last died. You can even find gems as you play the game, which is pretty generous from Imangi Studios in our opinion.

When Imangi Studios released the original Temple Run in 2011 it was a runaway success (excuse the pun) although iOS users only shared this joy. Those with an Android device had to wait just over 7 months to experience what all the fuss was about. The sequel has been available for the iPhone etc for just over a week now, but you will be glad to know that Temple Run 2 for Android devices is now live and ready for download.

Temple Run redefined gaming apps and showed that you don’t need to be a bird being shot from a catapult to be a huge hit on the App Store or Google Play. The sequel has only been available for a few hours for Android users and already has an average user review rating of 4.8 out of 5, which is pretty impressive. Available here.

However, we can understand why they are loving it because Imangi did not just bring out Temple Run 2 with some new levels, they also brought some new features as well, which we explained last week. The first thing you will notice upon loading the app is that there has been an improvement to the graphics, and this certainly comes into its own when playing on a Galaxy Note 2.

Just remember that there are a huge number of apps that claim to be just like Temple Run, but there can only be one (sorry big Highlander fan) so download the sequel now just to see what all the fuss is about. For those doubters just be aware that the game was downloaded more than 20 million times on the App Store in just four days, come on Android users you can do better than that.

The release date for Temple Run 2 on Android devices is just days away, or hours if you are counting them down. While those waiting for the Android version will be upset that iOS has been enjoying the game before them yet again, you can feel a little happier knowing that you do not have to wait as long as you did for the original Temple Run game.

For those who do not know, Temple Run 2 for Android will be released on January 24, which is this Thursday, although we’re uncertain if it will be available from midnight. If you had any doubts that the sequel would not be as popular as the original then you can cast away those doubts, as the app moved to number one on the App Store within hours.

There seems to be a pattern here because the game was downloaded more than 6 million times in just over 24 hours and according to Mashable, since its release Temple Run 2 has been downloaded more than 20 million times and played more than 210 million times, which we have to say is pretty impressive.

Imangi Studios knew that they had to develop another addictive game but felt that a few changes were needed in order to keep their fans interested. Looking at the video below we’re sure you will be very pleased with those changes, which includes one large gorilla, instead of a pack of them, swinging from ropes, and even a ride in a mine cart. We also talked about those new power-ups a few days ago, but we’d love to know your overall view on the successor to the hit game from last year.

We have some fantastic news for those of you who are still addicted to Temple Run on iOS. A sequel has now become available to download on the App Store and thanks to the huge success of the first game, Temple Run 2 is now available on iOS as a free download for the time being. Rather than a re-skinned version of the first game, Temple Run 2 is a whole new affair featuring new powerups, animations and landscapes to travel through.

Despite the Temple Run formula being ancient now and copied numerous times by other similar apps looking to cash in, it’s still a game that provides a decent amount of entertainment when just wanting a quick game whilst away from home. Temple Run 2 may now get you addicted to the game once again, as there’s a lot of new features to keep you interested this time around.

Zip lines and mine cart levels are just two of the main new features in the game, while the way you move around areas has been altered as well to be more visually impressive. No longer are a group of monkeys chasing you, as they’ve called for backup and you’ll now find that a large angry gorilla wants your head.

There’s a load of new power-ups to enjoy including respawn points, most of which you’ll see in an official gameplay trailer below. You’ll be pleased to hear that some of the classic power-ups like the magnet and speed boost are back for the new adventure, while there’s also new objectives to complete and upgrades to buy once you have collected enough coins.
