While the announcement of the HTC One X was met with a lot of enthusiasm since it will be HTC’s first ever quad-core smartphone, there were also a few groans at the same time once consumers realized that it will be another handset which will be littered with HTC’s custom UI features via Sense.

With that in mind, allow us to share with you the latest rumor that is going around, suggesting that not only will T-Mobile be picking up the device upon release, but that their version will also offer a stock Ice Cream Sandwich experience.

A new HTC smartphone with Sense seems too good to be true you’re probably thinking, but the guys over at Android and Me have taken it for granted that this is happening. The handset will be exclusive to AT&T initially as you’re probably aware, but once the handset does become available elsewhere, it could be T-Mobile that has the best version with stock ICS. Who knows, we may be even seeing this on T-Mobile as the G4X if we follow previous patterns with the LG Optimus 2X, the first dual-core phone which arrived on T-Mobile as the G2X.

How important is stock Ice Cream Sandwich to you? Personally speaking, I don’t really have many complaints about HTC Sense UI as long as the core nuts and bolts of the device work just fine, I’m easily pleased. Devoted Android fans may not feel the same way though, as there is huge interest whenever the words stock and Android come together in the same sentence.

There was a big commotion when the Galaxy Nexus launched on Verizon when users found out that it still contained some custom Verizon apps, and wasn’t the pure Ice Cream Sandwich experience that the ‘Nexus’ name suggested and like what we had seen with the Nexus S before it. Nobody knows for sure how much customization will be present when HTC launch the device with Sense on AT&T, but at least T-Mobile may be offering customers another option.

Would you make the drastic step and switch carrier to T-Mobile if they offered the One X with stock Ice Cream Sandwich? We’ve added a video below, offering some tips on making your Ice Cream Sandwich experience as fast as possible which you may find useful.

As more consumers have ditched their feature phones in recent years in favor of the growing selection of smartphones, our requirements for the type of call plan that is needed has changed. Many of us spend hours connected to the internet sending emails or other various things, but that doesn’t mean that talk time and SMS messages are not needed. Now over in the UK T-Mobile takes on rival carrier Three with an unlimited smartphone plan.

The new service is being called The Full Monty by the carrier, and will offer users unlimited talk time, data, and SMS messages with no fair use policy that is often used in similar deals. According to SlashGear the offer will begin on February 1st with customers signing up to a year contract, and also includes unlimited tethering.

It will begin at £36 per month that only provides unlimited minutes to other T-Mobile users, but still has 2,000 minutes to other networks. For unlimited calls to any networks the price increases to £41 per month. There is also a number of impressive handsets on offer as well such as the Samsung Galaxy S II, BlackBerry 9900, HTC Sensation XE, and the iPhone 4S.

Some will be available free but others will require an upfront charge costing up to £99 depending on the plan. Users will also get unlimited Wi-Fi access as well via BT Openzone. Previously unlimited meant just that in the UK before some carriers began applying fair use polices to their plans. Rival Three already offers customers the One Plan that provides truly unlimited data use.

One of Nokia’s first attempts at success on the smartphone market is about to become a whole lot more enticing to the consumer as T-Mobile US has announced they will be offering the Lumia 710 for free on a new contract, despite the fact that the device had only gone on sale a week ago for the price of just $49.95.

Yesterday we brought you news about the possibility that the smartphone may be released in the UK as it is not yet available there. The article by Gary Johnson suggests that February will be the month that this will happen. Those in the US that are interested in picking up this Windows Phone device will find the contract deal available at Walmart.

It is thought that the reason for this early discount to try and attract as many buyers as they can before AT&T start to offer their Lumia 900, which after its official unveiling last week is looking to be the best Windows Phone Nokia smartphone yet. According to Slashgear, this advanced device is expected to be released around mid-March, which gives retailers and carriers trying to compete, a couple of months to make an impact.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is T-Mobile US’s first Windows Phone from the manufacturer and is 4G capable. It main features include a 5 megapixel camera o the rear, a Qualcomm 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor, a 3.7” ClearBlack WVGA scratch-proof display and Xbox Live and Microsoft Office integration. The Lumia 900 meanwhile is packing an 8 megapixel camera on the rear, a single-core 1.4GHz processor and a 4.3” ClearBlack AMOLED WVGA display. Official pricing for the device is yet to be confirmed but the technology it is packing suggests it is likely to feature amongst the high-end prices.

What do you think of the Nokia Lumia 710? Will you be snapping it up now it’s free with a contract?

Earlier today we spoke about the lack of the iPhone on carrier T-Mobile and the likelihood of it coming in the future. The network in the meantime does offer some pretty good handsets to its subscribers, and the exclusive T-Mobile Galaxy S Blaze 4G has been revealed with Android ICS compatibility unknown.

Samsung and T-Mobile have both announced their new joint smartphone, and looks a pretty impressive handset. Currently not everything is known about the new handset, but according to a report it is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor. It has Samsungs much loved Super AMOLED display and will work with the manufacturer’s range of custom applications.

It looks slightly different to the Galaxy S II range that has already launched on T-Mobile and other major networks in the country. There are no details of what version of the Android operating system it will come running with, but even if it comes bundled with Gingerbread there is a good chance it will eventually see Ice Cream Sandwich.

There is also no news on a release date or pricing and interested consumers can sign up to receive this information once it is released. It is likely to be released either in the spring or the summer and comes not long after Samsung revealed details of devices due to get the Android update. The Galaxy S Blaze Android smartphone has been designed to work with T-Mobile’s 42Mbps HSPA+ network.

Will you be interested in the Galaxy S Blaze 4G?

Last year many believed that T-Mobile would finally get the Apple iPhone, but it never happened. Subscribers of the Sprint network were happy though as they could access the handset for the first time. It is thought that the T-Mobile iPhone will come and the reasons why there is no device yet have been given by the carrier.

Back in October Andrew Sherrard of the carrier revealed that they had requested a device from Apple to work on their network. Now AppleInsider are reporting that T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm has said that frequency band incompatibility as the “key reason” why there is still no iPhone available on the carrier.

What will be good news for the carrier’s subscribers is that Humm believes the situation will change in time, and said that “chipsets are also evolving to be able to allow for more bands.” He added that the decision is an Apple one, and follows previous comments from Cole Brodman who said the company would “love to have” the iPhone.

Some users have been using unlocked iPhone’s on the T-Mobile network, and recently were able to take advantage of 3G data speeds from T-Mobile following a network adjustment. GSM iPhones that are unlocked can work on T-Mobile’s voice network, but can rarely make use of 3G.

T-Mobile is trying to recover after the failed AT&T takeover as it falls further behind its rivals. Humm also confirmed that there is no new AT&T deal in the offering, but did reveal the carrier has been boosted by the cash, spectrum and data-roaming agreement with AT&T.

It could fall behind even more as its biggest rivals move over to 4G LTE, and in the meantime T-Mobile is planning on focusing on its HSPA+ network. They are intending to move over to LTE but don’t feel there is any rush to do so.

Do you think T-Mobile needs to offer the iPhone?

Last year Deutsche Telekom of Germany tried to sell off T-Mobile USA to rival US carrier AT&T, which led to many protests from the likes of Sprint. The move eventually collapsed following various lawsuits and intervention from US authorities. Now a Sprint T-Mobile merger could still be on the cards after the AT&T failure.

Rival carrier Sprint was rumored to be in talks with T-Mobile before AT&T launched their failed attempt to swallow up the carrier. According to Mobilebloom Sprint could be looking to reopen negotiations with T-Mobile’s owners about a possible takeover.

It is believed that Deutsche Telekom is still looking to sell off T-Mobile USA, which is currently the fourth biggest carrier in the country. Sprint is still having difficulty making headway into the American mobile market, which is currently dominated by AT&T and Verizon.

Sprint is currently lying behind these two giants who enjoy seventy percent of the US market. Sprint do now offer their customers the chance to own the elusive iPhone, which some see as a big gamble. Since offering the device in October Sprint enjoyed record sales of the handset, but still only sees seventeen percent of the US market.

If any such merger was to go ahead it would not only increase the carrier’s spectrum range, but also see its market share increase to 25 percent. A takeover by Sprint would not be straight forward though as the company is not exactly cash rich at the moment.

They are currently trying to recover a shortfall of $5 billion in cash and any takeover may prove too expensive. Sprint could also face similar legal challenges as AT&T did with their proposed move, and it also would have the expense of converting T-Mobile’s network that would equally be as expensive to achieve.

Do you think a Sprint takeover of T-Mobile would ever happen?

The proposed takeover of T-Mobile by AT&T has been going on for months now as the deal has been met with strong opposition from some quarters. Now it seems there could be an expensive failure as the AT&T and T-Mobile takeover is on the brink of collapse.

AT&T have now said if the proposed takeover fails to materialize it will take the $4 billion charge now just in case, as according to Reuters US regulators have said it would kill jobs and hit competition. Both companies involved in the deal have said it would continue to try and get approval of the $39 billion takeover from the US Department of Justice.

They have withdrawn applications though from the industry’s regulator for the time being, and said in a statement “AT&T Inc and Deutsche Telekom AG are continuing to pursue the sale of Deutsche Telekom’s U.S. wireless assets to AT&T”.

The sum of $4 billion is made up of $3 billion in cash as well as a book value of $1billion for spectrum access. There is a lot of opposition to the deal including from both the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and DOJ, which is because of the fact there would only be three national mobile carriers left.

One senior FCC official has said that any such merger “would result in a massive loss of U.S. jobs and investment”. The withdrawal of the application still has to be approved by the FCC as it can decide how the companies can resubmit it in the future. Even if it does get approval it could still be blocked by the DOJ, but both companies have said they would go back to the FCC process if it won approval by the DOJ.

Randall Stephenson, Chief Executive of AT&T had great confidence in the deal when it was first announced in March, and that’s why such a big break-up fee was agreed. Analysts are saying that AT&Ts decision to take the $4 billion charge this quarter showed how its confidence in the deal going through had fallen.

Last week consumers in the UK were introduced to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which was the new Android smartphone to come running the latest operating system. There have been issues with the handset though with owners complaining of a strange sound issue, which Google has since acknowledged with a fix promised. Meanwhile consumers in the US have been left wondering when the handset will land on their shores. Today though we can tell you that the Galaxy Nexus is available now contract free in the US at a cost though.

Earlier today we brought you the news that the Galaxy Nexus could be released on Verizon at the same time as the Motorola Droid 4 on December 8th. But now the guys over at Engadget are reporting in an article that the handset is shipping now via retailer Expansys.

If you want to treat yourself to the new Android smartphone the retailer will provide you the device for an eye watering $750. This is for the 16GB version of the device that uses GSM (HSPA+) technology that will work nicely with both AT&T and T-Mobile’s 3G networks.

The price is a little steep when you consider that the version that will ship via Verizon will have 4G LTE capability. But on the other hand you are not tied into a long two year contract. It will just depend if you can wait another week or two for the device to land on Big Red or not, and if using the device on either AT&T or T-Mobile appeals as well.

Would you pay $750 for a smartphone?

The Samsung Galaxy S II has proven to be a sought after device since it was launched around the world. The device is seen as the biggest threat currently to Apple’s all conquering iPhone with many happy owners of the device. Today though we are hearing of some faulty Galaxy S II displays emerging with owners on the T-Mobile network reporting issues and other versions as well.

Phone Arena is reporting that there is a growing thread on the XDA Developers forum where users are discussing problems on the T-Mobile Galaxy S II screen. Users are describing a problem where the display shows vertical lines and dots that appear under certain conditions. This comes more noticeable when looking at the display in dark conditions and the brightness level turned to minimum.

There have also been reports of sub standard color reproduction and poor contrast levels as well. One of the forum members made a comparison between displays of the Galaxy S II, and the version on Sprint the Samsung Epic 4G with both sharing a similar display.

It was noticed the Sprint version wasn’t perfect either, but issues were far less apparent as this version had been calibrated better. There is other Galaxy S II models that have the same issue as well, which include AT&Ts Skyrocket and other models from Rogers and Telus sold in Canada.

Back in August the device was reported to have problems with its display, as a bunch of users in Vietnam discussed issues with the device. Have you noticed any problems with the display on your Galaxy S II?

Leading up to the release of the last iPhone there were many rumors suggesting that the device will reach more carriers than before. While this was proven to be the case with regards to Sprint, T-Mobile customers were again left without any official access to an iPhone. Now T-Mobile gives the reasons for iPhone 4S no show on the carrier.

Andrew Sherrard who is the carrier’s senior vice president has gone on record with the reasons the carrier still doesn’t provide the iPhone. He explained to the carrier’s customers that the device still won’t work on the networks T-Mobile uses, even though the company asked Apple to provide hardware that would work according to an article on BusinessInsider.

In Sherrard’s statement he says “Ultimately, it is Apple’s decision”. Users of the T-Mobile network can use an iPhone if they purchase an unlocked device before adapting their T-Mobile SIM card. Trouble is the device will only work on the carriers’ slower 2G EDGE network.

The statement continues by saying its customers have some 4G devices that compare well with the iPhone. It claims that many of the smartphones on offer provide faster speeds, bigger displays, better cameras, and more choice. It lists the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Amaze 4G as worthy alternatives to the iPhone.

We recently told you about smaller carriers in the US now being able to provide the iPhone, and for customers of T-Mobile it must be disappointing to not get hold of the device. This may lead to many customers switching to another carrier if they want an official iPhone that badly.

Are you thinking of leaving T-Mobile to get an official iPhone?
