We have some major news to bring you now, as hot on the heels of AT&T’s 4G LTE plans, T-Mobile has just announced that they are upgrading their 4G HSPA+ to support blistering speeds of up to 42mbps in some areas.

The new speeds will only be available to select customers, but you’ll be pleased to hear that T-Mobile has already listed the full 55 markets that their new HSPA+ upgrade will cover. Markets include the likes of New York, Chicago, LA, Long Beach, Miami, San Francisco and much more. You can view the full list of covered areas over at BGR here.

Furthermore, T-Mobile also announced a new USB dongle which is required to access the new speeds. They are calling it the Rocket 3.0 data stick and it will cost you $99 to pick one up. It will be available from tomorrow, May 25th and will allow customers to make use of the improved speeds, providing they are in a supported area of course.

What are your thoughts on this major news? Up to 42mbps kind of makes a mockery of Verizon’s 4G LTE speeds doesn’t it? It will be very interesting to hear what Verizon think of this, perhaps they are planning a counter-announcement now as T-Mobile has definitely caught everyone’s attention. Will this speed boost tempt you into moving to T-Mobile, or are you still happy with data speeds from Verizon and AT&T?

Following on from the rather funny video that T-Mobile released yesterday which bashed both AT&T and Apple, AT&T has now countered T-Mobile’s bold claims that they are now the ”biggest 4G network in America”.

As reported from BGR, T-Mobile had previously claimed that their HSPA+ network, which they are calling ’4G’, is the fastest in the US – check out the video again here if you missed it.

AT&T has now gone on record to say that their HSPA+ network is actually bigger than T-Mobile’s, and to take a swipe at them further, they add that their network will still be the biggest even when T-Mobile has finished with their HSPA+ network upgrades.

As for T-Mobile’s 21Mbps HSPA+ speed promises, AT&T states that their speeds are ”just as fast” as T-Mobile speeds and that they also have a ‘theoretical’ speed limit of 21Mbps.

Some interesting comments there for sure. Looks like T-Mobile touched a few nerves with that video yesterday. Let us know your thoughts on this.

Yesterday we told you that the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G would be launching on November 3rd thanks to a trusty source, but now T-Mobile has made things official, confirming a price for you as well.

As reported from Engadget, the confusion surrounding the final name for the device has been cleared up too, and we can tell you that the device will now be known as the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G, not the MyTouch HD which had also been doing the rounds.

As for the price, it will be available to take home for $200 on a two-year deal with T-Mobile USA and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The 1Ghz dual-core device will also run on T-Mobile’s new 4G HSPA+ network speeds, so it is looking like a sure hit already. Look forward to a review soon.

We have some important news for customers on T-Mobile now, as the carrier has just announced a launch date for their HSPA+ network rollout, as well as a list of cities that will be supported by the new data speeds.

As reported from BGR, T-Mobile HSPA+ will be rolling out on July 21st, which is exactly one week away. It will be available in 19 cities to start off with, some of which include Austin TX, Cleveland OH, Washington D.C, Portland OR, Kansas City MO and much more.

You will be able to view the full list of cities below. Has your city been missed off the list? Hopefully T-Mobile are already working hard to get more cities available for HSPA+ soon. Let us know your thoughts on this, more details over at BGR.

HPSA+ Coverage on July 19th:

* Austin, TX
* Baltimore, MD
* Birmingham, AL
* Cincinnati, OH
* Cleveland, OH
* Columbus, OH
* El Paso, TX

Will this make you switch to T-Mobile, knowing that you can benefit from a much faster data connection? It will be interesting to see how this competes with Sprint’s 4G connections.

While HTC and Sprint clearly stole all the headlines at CTIA Wireless yesterday following the announcement of the EVO 4G handset, T-Mobile had some huge announcements of their own to make, which may have slipped under the radar.

As reported from AndroidSpin, T-Mobile stated at CTIA that they will be launching an HSPA+ handset in the second half of 2010.

Not only that, but they also claimed that this handset will be ’3x faster’ than the Sprint EVO 4G and will have more coverage than ever before. The company also tells customers that they should expect to see download speeds of 10-12 Mbps, which would overshadow the Sprint’s 4G 3-6 Mbps download speeds.

While we are surely impressed with the EVO 4G, could T-Mobile’s unannounced HSPA+ handset be one to look out for?
