We’ve known for a while that Mazzanti has been planning to build a production version of the Evantra, but as yet the details were rather vague. Thankfully the company decided to rectify this by offering the full Mazzanti Evantra specs, and there are a few features that stand out.

If you thought companies like Mazzanti Automobili were going to compromise on performance so they can make supercars like the Evantra more environmentally friendly, then you would be mistaken. Proof of this is a V8 7.0-liter engine, which produces 701 horsepower – seems like a strange number to stop at.

Mazzanti Evantra specs revealed

The engine will help to propel the Evantra from 0–62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, which is Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1 territory, although we still do not have a top speed. We doubt it will be as fast as the two hypercars we just mentioned, as these make use of KERS and produce far more horsepower.

There will only be five models produced each year, which could bump the price up because of them being so exclusive. Not all of you will be happy with the design, but I love the classic lines and smooth surfaces, which make this a very desirable car, well that’s just my opinion.

More details on the Evantra can be found on the Mazzanti Automobili website, but we can tell you that while it may be fast, it’s also incredibly safe and will be a wonderful place to be while behind the wheel. While the company has shared a great deal of information with us, they have left out a minor detail, the Mazzanti Evantra price.

How do you think the Mazzanti Evantra will compare against the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1?

It’s speculated that the Ferrari Enzo replacement could make an appearance at Geneva next month and a recent render seems to fit in with the parameters of its predecessor. It does seem funny that we hardly know a thing about the new hypercar, not even its name, which is a little strange. There are three names in contention; those are the Ferrari F150 (highly unlikely) the F70 (more plausible) or the F150 Italia.

Come next month we hope that the guessing game can finally stop, but then more questions need to be answered. While Ferrari had leaked an obscure image of the front end of the Enzo successor, it was still hard to make out any details. However, there have been several renders, with the latest render seen above thanks to a designer and dedicated Ferrari fan.

Looking at this teaser it does show that the designer has stuck with the parameters of what made the Enzo such an iconic car. While the speculation continues we can’t help but say that has to be one of the best pictures to date.

Spy shots of the Ferrari F150, F70 or Italia has already appeared online, but because it was heavily discussed, it was hard to make out any of the details or beautiful design flares that we have come to love from the Prancing Horse.

Once we get to see what the final production version looks like then the attention will go to the new Ferrari’s specs, such as top speed and handling. However, once this hypercar does go does go on sale its price will be a deciding factor, as potential buyers might consider the McLaren P1 if the price is just too high – although this will not matter to die hard Ferrari lovers with an endless pot of cash.

While we await the official specs for the McLaren P1, the car to take on the Ferrari Enzo successor, the company based in Woking, England thought it only right to tease us a little more by revealing three new images of the P1 interior. McLaren describe this as a jet fighter cockpit, and for the most part they are correct, but not certain they would look as clinical.

Looking at images of the McLaren P1 interior, thanks to today’s press release, it’s clear to see that the passenger will be in total comfort while having a huge amount of power underneath their right foot. The glass canopy and improved visibility from a larger windscreen will add to that jet fighter feel; let’s hope that McLaren has spent as much time on the oily bits as they have with the finer details of inside the supercar – what are we saying, of course they have.

We do fear that the interior is a little stark looking and feels like you are staring at a black emptiness, and while people have been hoping that McLaren went back to a central driving position like the McLaren F1 surely, it’s about time that we moved on?

McLaren always seem to produce a nice car, but we do hope that they have learned from the mistakes made with the MP4-12C, and that’s the fact that you did not feel in control of the car. We say this because it was pointed out on Top Gear that you feel more like a passenger in the MP4-12C, and one of the reasons was the computer doing all the work with the gears, instead of the driver having the option to do some work for a change.

If you had to choose between the McLaren P1 or the MP4-12C, which would get your vote, unless you are waiting on the debut of the Ferrari Enzo successor before you make your mind up?

When the media and the public head down to the Geneva Motor Show later next month there are two cars that is sure to grab their attention first, and that is the Ferrari F150 (more commonly known as the Enzo successor) and the McLaren P1. We already know so much about the latter, but not much is known about the former.

However, all that should change in Geneva because we should not only learn all those important specs, but also details like price and also availability. From the rumors we have heard so far the F150 looks to be the far better car, but never write off McLaren, because they are all about the finer details.

Ferrari have been pretty quiet in regards to the build up to their new hypercar, so it seems very strange that they would use social media in order to announce that the car will not only make its debut in Geneva, but it will also succeed the Enzo as the top Ferrari. There are a huge number of you who believe this to be a fake report, but giving the F150 its debut in Geneva where the P1 is to also appear is surely its best platform?

There seems to be a huge debate in regards to Ferrari’s choice in name for their Enzo successor, but F150 is more likely to be its internal/code name. Why would Ferrari wish to take on the might of Ford, who we are sure will not be best pleased with the use of the name.

We say this because Ford had sent a letter to Ferrari back in 2011 threatening legal action if they used the F150 name. However, Ferrari responded by saying that they have never said that they will use the name for their upcoming car, because it’s just an abbreviation of its full name, Ferrari F150th Italia, which is to celebrate 150 years of the unification of Italy.

While it may be strange to you and I that the McLaren P1 will not be unveiled at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, it’s nice to see that the Woking based squad has teased us a little more with a video of the McLaren P1 gauge cluster. However, all this has done is left us wanting more because we are not only craving details on the interior, but the rest of the supercar (or hypercar) as well.

Looking at the video you’ll get to see the digital instrument cluster while set on Race mode, and like the C7 Corvette Stingray will be configurable, although pretty certain Race mode will be the most desired setting. F1 fans will notice that the LED lights at the top mimics those found at the top of the Mclaren F1 race care steering wheel, so lets you know when it’s time to shift.

However, you have to wonder if this is a pointless feature because the P1 is an automatic only transmission. Some race faces will say that this is the way of the future, while the purists would disagree – where do you stand?

One thing we do know, we are desperate to see more, but you’ll have to wait until next months Geneva Motor Show. We have to wonder how much success McLaren will have with the P1 in the US, because launching the hypercar at one of their auto shows first would have been a better option? The McLaren will go head to head with the Ferrari Enzo successor F150/F70.

One of my favorite things about Christmas isn’t the unwrapping of gifts or seeing members of the family I don’t usually see throughout the year, no it’s the moment when I can finally sit down and watch the Top Gear Christmas special. However, imagine how upset I was when the BBC said that it would not be airing one in 2012? Thankfully a new series started last night and the teaser montage showed that the 19th series has some great features coming up.

However, last night saw something special happen because the Pagani Huayra achieved the converted Top Gear title of being the fastest production car around their track, which up until yesterday was held by the 3-liter Ariel Atom. However beating the previous winner of the fastest production car around the Top Gear test track comes at a price because while the Atom costs around £35,000 £100,000, the Huayra will cost about £800,000, although it’s still cheaper than the brute that is the Bugatti Veyron.

While watching we had assumed that the Huayra would not be able to even beat the Veyron around the Top Gear track because the former has its power transferred to the real wheels, while the latter was an all-wheel drive, which as you would assume would give it far more grip. However, those clever guys at Pagani came up with a unique system of spoilers on the front and rear of the car that detects when more downforce is needed, making the car far more stable in the corners.

The previous record was 1:15.1 achieved by the Atom, but the Pagani Huayra smashed that time by 1.3 seconds. We can’t wait to see how well this car will compare to the McLaren P1, although the 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds and top speed of 235 mph will take some beating.

Porsche 960 could pay the price taking on Ferrari F150 http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/01/25/porsche-960-could-pay-the-price-taking-on-ferrari-f150/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/01/25/porsche-960-could-pay-the-price-taking-on-ferrari-f150/#comments Fri, 25 Jan 2013 10:05:26 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=156908 Porsche 960 could pay the price taking on Ferrari F150If you are into your supercars then you have a lot to be excited about because Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren all have new models in the works with the 960...]]> Porsche 960 could pay the price taking on Ferrari F150

If you are into your supercars then you have a lot to be excited about because Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren all have new models in the works with the 960 (FeFi), F150 and the P1. If you want to know what FeFi mean it’s easy, Ferrari Fighter as the German car manufacturer has their sights set on the Prancing Horse’s successor to the Enzo.

It’s clear to see the Porsche 960 will have to pay the price if they have any hope of taking on the Ferrari F150 because the latter has an array of new technology borrowed from their F1 division to help give it a helping hand in performance and handling. The last we heard the 960 will cost as much as the F150, so Porsche could have a hard time convincing those with the funds that they should go for their model rather than the Ferrari, which could be a tough sell.

The reason we say this is because the Porsche 960 will come with a 3.9-liter flat-eight engine complete with quad-turbo to help produce 650 horsepower. While this may sound impressive, it’s not when you consider that the Ferrari F150 is expected to come with a 6.3-liter V12 engine, which will be boosted to 920 horsepower thanks to KERS technology.

One would presume that the Porsche would be able to take on their Italian rival because it would be much lighter, but if we are to believe some of what we’ve been hearing then the F150 could be about 500 pounds lighter. We shouldn’t count Porsche out just yet but let’s face it, it’s not looking too good is it?

When we first learned of the Hennessey Venom GT we knew that the car had two supercars in its sights, and that was the Koenigsegg Agera R and the awe-inspiring Bugatti Veyron. We knew that the car was a beast and had some huge ambitions and in a recent Guinness World Record attempt the Venom GT obliterated the Agera R.

The record was for the world’s fastest production car from 0 to 300 kph (186 mph), the Venom GT did this in 13.63 seconds, which is a second faster than the Koenigsegg. The team also thought they would see how much faster they were getting to 200 mph, and it was 14.51 seconds, 3 seconds faster than the Agera R.

MSN Autos said that the Venom GT was also faster than the Veyron Super Sport to 200 mph by a staggering 8 seconds, although they do say that this is an unofficial record. However, you have to remember that the Veyron is heavy and not about acceleration but more about top speed, which it still holds the record for.

Hennessey’s next aim is to break the world record for the fastest production car, which as we know is 268 mph and is held by the Veyron Super Sport. We’re not sure if the Venom GT has what it takes, but that 1,244 horsepower has the grunt to do it, but does the rest of the car? The reason we say this is because the Veyron is technology taken to the limits, whereas the Venom GT is pretty much old-school engineering.

New Special Edition Lamborghini Aventador models http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/14/new-special-edition-lamborghini-aventador-models/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/14/new-special-edition-lamborghini-aventador-models/#comments Tue, 14 Feb 2012 12:06:00 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=148732 The Lamborghini Aventador is not even a year old and there is already one special edition model and plans for another are inbound, but it’s not hard to see why tuners and other such companies want to get their hands on the Murciélago successor. Sales of the standard version have been impressive and 12 months worth of orders were taken before the supercar even hit the streets.

The first of the two limited edition models is still in the planning stage and so there have only been a few renders, and this is for the Jon Olsson Lamborghini Aventador. Many of you will already know that the Gallardo had already seen this treatment, so it’s time to see what the latest Raging Bull will look like with the signature ski box and camouflage finish.

If we do see a version of this car then it shouldn’t be long before it makes an appearance, as Olsson may want to show it off before he begins the Gumball 3000 rally in May, although he will be also showing off his Rebellion R1K Ultima as well.

The second Special Edition Lamborghini Aventador is the one from RENM Performance, and it’s easy to see this will not be just a paint job and a fancy ski box. This German tuning company has breathed their magic to make this one truly special aftermarket custom job.

Some of the features include a Inconel/titanium exhaust with both road/race spec, revamped ECU and an improved air intake to give the Aventador between 7 to 10 percent more power. Because these custom jobs are all done by hand the performance of each one will vary a little, but if you are looking for more power then you can also change to a higher-grade fuel as well.

Because of the extra power RENM has had to lower the suspension and make a few revisions to the aerodynamics, which means that you will have a better performing car that will still stick to the road like glue – well as long as you don’t try to push it too much.

We currently have no figures on how much faster this version will be but it could be around 383km/h going on a 10 percent increase. However, we have to remember that a 10 percent increase in power will not make it go that much faster, as the air is much thicker at that speed and requires a huge performance increase just to gain an extra 15km/h.

Vintage cars from today’s beautiful production models http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/06/30/vintage-cars-from-todays-beautiful-production-models/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/06/30/vintage-cars-from-todays-beautiful-production-models/#comments Thu, 30 Jun 2011 07:53:54 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=135745 When you think of a vintage car you imagine a vehicle that is not just old, but beautiful as well. Trying to define what makes a car possible for vintage status comes down to a number of factors, and most cars do not have that. Back in the day cars were built with loving care by hand, and car designers had a passion – something that cannot be said these days. However, there are just a few beautiful production models from today that could just become vintage cars in years to come.

Just for the record we are not talking your average Honda, Toyota, BMW or Ford. Making vintage car status requires a car with that certain something. Choosing a model from today will be tough, just like it was years ago; did you know that industry experts thought that the E-Type Jag would not mount to much – now look at it?

The first model that we believe has the makings of a fine vintage car has to be the Audi R8 Spyder. Now you only have to look at those lines to know just what we mean. There are not many production cars that shout at you and say come and buy me, but this model does and for good reason. However, you do have to pay the price for it, as it is expected to be in the region of $200,000.

A true petrol head would have owned an Alfa Romeo at one stage in their life, if not then you cannot call yourself one. Fans of the brand will be pleased to know that we believe that the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider has what it takes to make it into the future vintage list. You can see from the design that this was well thought out, there just seems to be a little inspiration from cars back in the day when the driver used to sit almost to the rear of the car – much like the E-Type in that respect.

You cannot have a vintage car list without having a Ferrari in there – much as it pains me – as I am a F1 McLaren fan. Now the Prancing Horse has had many fine cars over the years, but most of them seem to lack that magic that they once had. However, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano has it in bundles; it does not matter what angle you look at it, the car just looks beautiful. Pininfarina Studios has done a fine job, so nice to see that they finally found their form once again.

The final car that we think could become a true vintage is the original McLaren F1 from 1992. This was the first true supercar that smashed the 200mph barrier and kept going until it hit 243MPH. Now we know that it is not all about speed, but ask most people what their favorite supercar is, and we bet you that the McLaren F1 would be high up on that list?

Well these are what we believe will become future vintage cars, but what else should be on this list?
