Also, IGN Walkthroughs have hosted a comprehensive walkthrough, which covers an overview of the story, plot (a Mario game with a plot? Surely not!), collectible items, and of course, the main stage-by-stage, world-for-world guide on how to complete each level.

As you probably know Metacritic give releases a Metascore, this Metascore is generated by averaging out critic reviews, currently their Super Mario Galaxy 2 page gives the game a Metascore of 98 out of 100, currently their Metascore is based on 24 critic reviews, 14 of which score the game a perfect 100 out of 100.

These perfect scoring reviews include reputable reviews/critics such as Edge Magazine, 1UP, IGN and GameRadar. The lowest scoring reviews still gave the game an impressive 90 out of 100, these reviews were from GameDaily, GamePro and Wired.

User reviews also feature on Metacritic, currently the game has a score of 9.5 out of 10 based on 122 user votes, therefore it seems as if pretty much everyone is impressed with Nintendo’s latest offering.

You will fly from one galaxy to another where you will be given tasks to complete. Things have been kept much the same where you have to fight bosses in order to progress to the next level – you will be forced to slow down but do not let anything get in your way, just get through the level as fast as possible.

It is Ars Technica that offers us one of the first reviews of this much anticipated Nintendo Wii game; they begin by introducing the game to us then going into too much more detail about the dynamics and how well it compares to the previous version.

They do point out that huge portions of the game are just like its predecessor, but Nintendo has made more than enough improvements to make this a better platform than before. Visit Ars Technica for their full review of Super Mario Galaxy 2, their final verdict is that we should buy this game.

The classic, nostalgic level complete with theme music and spiral mountain is to be included in Super Mario Galaxy 2, due for release Monday, May 24 in the US.

Reviews for the long-awaited game will go live on Sunday, May 23 at 10pm PST, 1am EST on Monday, May 24 which also means that the UK will get them in time for breakfast at around 6AM.

Games this year have so far being nothing less than superb, with Red Dead Redemption leading the way with stunning reviews from all angles. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has a chance to capitalize on this, potentially being the biggest traditional Nintendo game of the year. Edge UK (10/10) and Informer (9.25/10) have already released their reviews.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 will see a release the same day as the review embargo is lifted, but UK residents will have to wait until June 11 to play as their favorite plumber with a mustache.

As reported from VG247, anticipation for the sequel has gone into overdrive in the past few weeks, especially since EDGE Magazine awarded the game a perfect 10/10 score – only the 12th time that the publication has done so in its history.

The image (seen here) shows the game with two controllable characters, one of which is Mario and the other is Luma, the picture clearly shows seperate WiiMote’s controlling different characters.

From what we can see it looks as if Mario will be the main character (as you would expect), this seems to be the case as Mario is being controlled by a WiiMote and Nunchuk, whereas Luma is only being controlled by a WiiMote.

Both the screens and trailer have been embedded at the end of this post, the video trailer looks extremely impressive in terms of gameplay, however as we tend to see with most Wii releases the graphics are quite dated.

I’m sure that most Mario fans will not be put off by the ‘classic’ graphics, the fast-paced unique looking gameplay should keep most die hard fans playing for hours.

The game should be widely available from May 23rd, apparently one of the most exciting things about this game is that it will feature ‘new gameplay elements’.

These new elements are said to offer a new dynamic to the game, apparently one of these elements allows Mario to drill through to the other-side of the planet.

One of the bosses which featured in the hands-on could apparently “send fighters through the soil to attack you on the other side of the planet”.

All in all it seems as if Nintendo have added a lot of changes to this game which may really help freshen up the challenges offered in Mario Galaxy.
