Wired.com has been lucky enough to be at the show and is reporting that the console will be getting some major upgrades soon. One of these is the ability to take 3D movies that the company has been working on for a while now. There are also improvements coming for other services such as the eShop, Mii Plaza, and Street Pass.

Nintendo are planning to bring out a Misty Pink version of the 3DS in an attempt to appeal more to female gamers from October 20th. Game wise we already know that Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D are planned for later this year, but some other Mario titles have been announced for the console.

Coming next year will be Mario Tennis that will use the console’s gyro motion sensor; Paper Mario and Luigi’s Mansion 2 are also planned for next year. Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics has also been revealed for next year.

Other titles that are coming next year for the 3DS include Animal Crossing, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Resident Evil: Revelations, Fire Emblem 3D, Tekken 3D Prime Edition, and the company are currently working on Monster Hunter 4 for the 3DS.

We have reported before about the possibility that Nintendo were working on an accessory that would add an extra circle pad for the device. Now Joystiq are reporting the device will be available from December 10th in Japan. It will cost around $19.50 and is called the Slidepad that requires an AAA battery to work.

The Nintendo 3DS could finally prove a success for the company now with a stronger line up of games, and a more affordable price. Do you think the 3DS will be more popular now?

Reggie Fils-Aime took to the stage at E3 and proceeded to show off the very first footage of the game to the world. He reminds us that Super Mario for the 3DS is the very first 3D Mario game created from the ground up for a portable system, and then accompanying footage shows Mario in his trademark Racoon suit amongst others, making his way through a brand new universe.

The video also shows you how you can seemlessly walk in and out of 2D and 3D gameplay. Of course this will look 10x better when viewed on an actual 3DS, as Nintendo were obviously restricted to showing 2D gameplay only on the big screen.

As for a release date, Nintendo are still unwilling to commit to a solid date but for the first time, the company did confirm that the game will be due out before the end of the year. We have a feeling the date is going to be announced at the Tokyo Game Show, so stay tuned for that in September. Put it this way, at least you won’t have to wait until 2012 for it to land.

IGN point out that Shigeru Miyamoto has pretty much confirmed that the Raccoon Tail Suit will make an appearance in Super Mario 3DS, if this suit makes an appearance chances are that other classic suits will show up, along with some more recent ones. Perhaps we will see the Cloud Suit and Penguin Suit show up, if so we can expect the game’s levels to be designed around the abilities these suits give you, also we could see some completely new suits show up.

The game’s difficulty is what many think will be the game’s most important feature, let’s face it, the scope of people who will play the game makes it hard to get spot on, will it be as easy as Super Mario Bros on the DS, or will it be a bit more difficult like the two Super Mario Galaxy releases?

Nintendo has previously stated that Super Mario 3DS will be a similar game to Super Mario 64, perhaps this means that there will be a central hub set in the Mushroom Kingdom. You can find out more about Super Mario Bros 3DS expectations over at IGN, now we will talk about some of the ideas on IGN’s wishlist.

IGN hope that this game will really show off the 3DS’ 3D capabilities and add real depth to such an iconic game series, they want to see plenty of classic costumes return with a 3D makeover and bottomless caverns to really look bottomless. Also for lasting appeal they want the game to be tough so you really have to work hard to get all of the stars.

One thing to remember is the fact that all 3DS games will be playable in 2D, we are hoping that this doesn’t hold the game back too much, let’s face it if you bought the 3DS you want to see its 3D capabilities on show, we have been playing 2D Mario games since 1980, surely it is time for a change?

The Super Mario title for the 3DS has been announced for a long while now and it is scheduled to be released by the end of the year alongside another Mario title in development for the 3DS that will come out after the year’s end. The games producer and designer, Shigeru Miyamoto, said that the game will be “a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64.”

This should excite fans of the Mario series and will give some people a reason to buy the 3DS, upon launch the games available weren’t that great, however we are sure that E3 2011 will have plenty of surprises in store for us.
