Subaru has acted very fast in announcing a recall for their 2013 Legacy and Outback, because it didn’t seem that long ago before an investigation was launched, and now the Subaru recalls have already begun, in fact they just started today.

The models being recalled are the 2013 Outback sedan and the Legacy, which were manufactured from February 15 to June 15, 2012. The reason for the recall is due to the inner and outer shafts of the steering column assembly, as in some cases they may become disengaged from each other.

If this were to happen then the consequences could be bad, as the driver would not be able to steer the vehicle, which could cause an accident. This issue should not be taken lightly, and so you are asked to contact Subaru or the NHTSA hotline.

To remedy the Subaru 2013 Legacy and Outback recall issue your local dealer will replace the faulty steering assembly for a new unit, which will be free of charge.

Phone Subaru on 1-800-782-2783 or the NHTSA on 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).

Back in April there was another recall for these vehicles, but this time for the 2005 to 2009 models. This was due to a corrosion issue. And also last month Subaru had to recall their 2014 Subaru Forester, because the mats were curling up and getting in the way of the pedals.

Do you prefer your Japanese cars to be made in Japan or America, because some people believe having them made in the US is one of the reasons why there are so many Japanese vehicle recalls, but would you agree?

We’ve not heard much on auto recalls over the past few weeks, but that has changed today, as there is a new Subaru Forester recall, which is because of substandard floor mats. It seems that these mats have a tendency to curl up if they get a little hot, which could then get in the way of the pedals, which could result in an accident.

The recall is for the 2014 Subaru Forester and is a result of an incorrect resin composition being used on the rear of the floor mats, and affects all four mats. In all their are 10,137 vehicles affected by this recall the US, and this issue should not be taken lightly, because imagine trying to brake and all of a sudden you find the mat is in the way, or it could become caught on the accelerator or clutch pedals?

These Subaru Forester problems is a bit of a concern for the company, and has resulted in all production of these mats being stopped as part of an ongoing investigation. Edmunds says that Subaru dealers will replace the defective mats, but while you await your letter you are advised to remove them from your vehicle.

We had assume this was the only issue Subaru had in recent months, but a quick Subaru recall 2013 search found that we had missed a serious one at the start of April. There were 200,000 Legacy and Outback’s involved because the salt water could corrode the brake lines, which could result in them leaking and affecting braking.

The recall was for the 2005 to 2009 sedans and wagons. You are advised to call Subaru on 1-800-782-2783.

With the New York Auto Show taking place tomorrow there are several new models to look forward to, but for those young racers in you the Subaru WRX Concept will certainly be of a great interest. If we are to believe the rumors then we could possibly see the concept vehicle at the event tomorrow, but in the mean time it looks as though some illustrations along with specs have leaked.

Okay, so we know nothing official has been announced, but a French website believes the images are the real deal, and if they are we cannot wait to see the real thing. If these images are an exact representation of the WRX, then it looks to be almost complete, so let’s hope we see something tomorrow.

As for those all-important Subaru WRX Concept specs the engine could produce 275 horsepower to 300 hp from its rumored turbocharged boxer engine. There is said to be ventilated discs as well as six-piston calipers in order to get all four wheels to stop as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Handling will be spot on as always thanks to Subaru’s all-wheel drive system, but apart from that it’s anyone’s guess as to what goodies will be incorporated into the new WRX.

Going back to the design of the WRC concept, it seems to look like a cross between a new Jaguar and a 2015 Mustang. However, we have to remember Subaru are notorious for bringing a car to production and not resemble its concept counterpart whatsoever.

Overall we love the aggressive styling and just hope it makes it to production.

Over the years we’ve seen some crazy adverts from brands promoting their latest autos and this has included a car riding waves, although it is pretty obvious these vehicles can’t do most of the things shown in TV ads, but the message is strong and the videos mostly work by driving interest in a new car. Subaru’s new 2014 model of Forester has been promoted in a recent marketing video, which uses Projection Mapping to reveal the new model.

The World Premiere for the 2014 Subaru Forester had been on November 13, 2012. The video below this article shows that unveil, which lets you see the new Subaru Forester being built in front of your eyes using Projection Mapping. This presentation had been shown during the auto event in Tokyo and involved two Foresters covered, and then a projector displayed images on these covered cars, which we’re sure you would admit is pretty impressive?

What do you think of the 2014 Subaru Forester launch in Tokyo? We loved the way Subaru used digital robotic arms to build the drivetrain, which is then added to the new 2014 model. Take a look at the video below that runs for just over 3 minutes, and let us know if you think this is one of the most innovative auto launches. It is worth noting that similar reveals have been used for the Toyota Yaris and a Lamborghini before, but this is certainly our favorite launch to date.

Picture the scene, a roar from the performance tuned turbo charged engine, all four wheels scrabbling for grip as the blistered bodywork rockets into the horizon. But wait there is something amiss, the driver still has both hands on the wheel without reaching down to up shift ? That’s right people its an automatic !

With apparent high demand, Subaru will now be offering its rally bred all-wheel drive, 300 bhp, WRX STI, in automatic for the Australian market. According to Subaru’s press release, MD Nick Senior, Subaru Australia says that due to an increase in inquires about an automatic option over the last two years, they are now delighted to be able to honour customers requests.

At the moment there is no plans for spreading the automatic version elsewhere, but according to Autoblog they wouldn’t be surprised to see it offered as an option over in the States. I don’t know about you but the word automatic doesn’t really fit with the ultimate driving experience. Tell us what you think, is there a place for an automatic WRX STI in your life or are you a clutch junkie ? Check out the link for the full press release.

With the 2011 WRX weighting less than previous models, and using new revised suspension it could be the fastest STI to date according to Fuji Heavy Industries. Although it has no more power than before the shear lack of weight could play the trump card out on the track.

AutoBlog sourced a clip released by the factory of the wide body, large rear winged four door version just to whet our appetites, so click the link to see the action.

Subaru loves to play about with its rally-bred WRX models, and the third-generation is no exception.
With an increase in power from the now 2.5-liter turbochargered flat-four, (you may remember original Impreza Turbo’s were 2.0-liter) for 2011 the WRX now has a wide body design taken from the STI model.

With the wider more aggressive stance comes a 1.5 inch-wider track front and rear. Firming things up are stiffer rear sub frame bushes straight from the STI and sticky 235/45R17 tires wrapped round wider 17×8-inch wheels.

Along with the widened fenders comes a new front lip spoiler, with larger black grille and intakes. With 265-horsepower the increase of 34 pounds in curb weight shouldn’t hinder the WRX’s performance. Whether you choose the five-door model or the sedan you will still get the pumped up new styling, so the only question is which body style suits you?

Check out AutoBlog for more pictures of Subaru’s testosterone filled performance car.

Subaru Impreza WRX owners were left unhappy when they heard that the carmaker had issued a recall on 2002 and 2003 models. The vehicles are having to be recalled due to a fuel leak that could set the car on fire, affected vehicles will be fixed by Subaru dealers.

The recall will cover 5,700 of these 2002 / 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX cars, according to New York Times, the carmaker has said that this is not a big deal. The leaks can happen when the weather gets cold, but Subaru has said that this is no big deal.

There have been 944 complaints to date over fuel leaks or owners smelling gasoline, one owner said that their Subaru actually caught on fire. The N.H.T.S.A. received a letter from Subaru, which stated, “The affected vehicles do not contain a safety related defect within the meaning of federal motor vehicle safety law.”

The N.H.T.S.A. has looked at 43,000 vehicles, but has only issued a recall on the ones in cold weather states. These include Alaska, Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin and more. Those in other states will have their warranty on the fuel line extended up to 12 years and unlimited mileage.

If you do smell gasoline then head down to your local dealer right away. For more information visit New York Times.
