If you haven’t picked up Street Fighter X Tekken yet for whatever reason but were always interested in doing so, you may want to opt for the PC version of the game thanks to the new found customization abilities that are available and are not featured on console versions. You may not know it, but you can apply mods to the game and more specifically – insert costumes of any variety as a replacement for some of the characters seen in-game.

We have a few brilliant videos to show you what we mean now, as some clever modders have managed to put Dr Doom in the game, the supervillain from Marvel which you should all very familiar with. In the clip you’ll see below, Dr Doom has been placed in the game with Sagat’s move set and it actually looks pretty good.

If Dr Doom doesn’t take your fancy, how about Sega’s Bayonetta character? Her appearance model looks fantastic we have to say, although it’s a shame that modders can’t take this one step further and try to give her some unique moves – we guess this is the next step. There is another video showing what Bryan looks like dressed as M.Bison, and actually – some of his moves wouldn’t look out of place for the real M.Bison. Take a look and let us know if you agree here.

Once again, it shows the advantages that PC owners have over console users as this just wouldn’t be possible on the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions. We hear all the time on how PC gaming will be ‘finished’ when next-gen consoles arrive, but based on this creativity seen in this example here – it’s clear that consumers will have a lot of preference for a PC copy over console.

Do you own Street Fighter X Tekken on the PC? If so, let us know what other mods you would like to see next. It would be great if someone takes that Dr Doom mod and gives him his move set from Marvel Vs Capcom 3 – that has to be possible surely? Hopefully we’ll have part two of this story at a later date for you, but as it stands the PC version looks like the superior version now.

Remember the infamous on-disc DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken that was locked away by Capcom? Well, the developer has now put an early release date on the extra characters...

Remember the infamous on-disc DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken that was locked away by Capcom? Well, the developer has now put an early release date on the extra characters despite the fact that they were due for release on PS Vita first.

It looks like all of the hacking that has gone on and then the locked characters turning up on Xbox Live has prompted Capcom to finally release the extra 12 characters officially. To refresh your minds, the fighters that were included on disc, but locked away so that Capcom could charge for it at a later date include Guy, Cody, Sakura, Blanka, Dudley, Elena, Bryan Fury, Jack, Alisa, Lars, Lei and Christie.

The PS Vita version of the game is due out later this year and will include all of these characters for free. Capcom originally planned to release them on console after the Vita release, but they’ve now decided to unleash the 12 characters on July 31st for both Xbox 360 and PS3.

As previously announced, the price for these on-disc characters will be $20 or 1600 Microsoft Points – coincidentally the same price as Bethesda’s Dawnguard expansion for Skyrim. Fans had hoped that a discount would be introduced to make up for the on-disc controversy, but it looks like that is not happening now.

Alternatively, you may opt to wait until September for the release of the 25th Anniversary Street Fighter Collection. This includes a nice selection of older games, but crucially it includes Street Fighter X Tekken on console with all of the on-disc DLC as well. However, the collection costs $150, so you’ll have to make the decision on whether you want to part with this handsome sum of money, especially when Capcom are the recipients.

Considering how good the Vita version is looking at the moment, we’d say it is a good move to just pick up the portable version providing you have a Vita. Those extra 12 characters for free are certainly a nice incentive and we’re hearing the Vita version will also include alternate costumes for 38 characters.

If you currently have the console version, give us your thoughts on this. Is $20 simply too much to pay for on-disc DLC? Did you expect Capcom to at least offer a discount for the characters that should have been included from day one?

Street Fighter X Tekken players on Xbox 360 and PS3 are unlikely to be impressed with Capcom’s latest patch for the game. It’s been confirmed that the recent 1.04 features a glitch with Rolento and his throwing knife which results in the game freezing every single time.

We have a video to show you which gives you an exact idea what is going on. There has obviously been some pretty bad bugs in Street Fighter games before, but you have to say that this is up there with the best of them – nobody likes hard console freezes now do they, especially after experiencing their fair share of issues with Skyrim.

The glitch occurs when Rolento performs his stinger move and it connects with any fireball. The game just freezes instantly and you can’t do anything other than restart the system.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any word from Capcom regarding this. We would have hoped to see a message at the Capcom Unity page stating that they were looking to fix this asap, but nothing at the moment. You can imagine the frustration that this is causing in online matches and we expect that Rolento will be banned from all tournament matches until the problem is fixed up.

As you can imagine, the issue is receiving all sorts of attention on Twitter, bordering on the hilarious as well as plenty of shock that such a glitch hasn’t been spotted by Capcom. If this has happened to you in-game, let us know your thoughts on it. Unacceptable from Capcom, or do you see the funny side of it?

It turns out that after a few months since the release of Street Fighter X Tekken, not many people have bought the game. Capcom has recently come out and stated that the poor sales are due to ‘cannibalism’, but could it possibly be down to many gamers losing faith in Capcom and their industry tactics?

Capcom has conceded that the 1.4 million sales recorded for the fighting crossover since its release in March, is below their expectations. The reason, according to the company is due to cannibalism and in their opinion, the sheer amount of fighting games releasing too close to each other.

Gamers on the other hand may be raising one or two eyebrows over this explanation. The Mortal Kombat reboot from NetherRealm Realm studios on the other hand enjoyed an instant success, shifting over 3 million copies since launch and picking up the award for Best Fighting Game at the 2011 Spike VGAs.

It really is no secret that the on-disc DLC shenanigans for Street Fighter X Tekken have come back to hurt Capcom in the pocket. The multiple editions of Street Fighter IV may have also cast some doubt in the minds of consumers who were unsure whether a similar ‘ultimate’ version of Street Fighter X Tekken will release in the future. Capcom has said that they would not be doing this for the game, but consumers have obviously held back.

With Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, SSF IV: Arcade Edition and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars all released in the space of a few years, could the ‘cannibalism’ or even saturation finger be pointed at Capcom?

We’ve read comments on Twitter along the lines of ‘Capcom only have themselves to blame’, but do you think this is a bit harsh or deserved? It will be interesting to see what Namco Bandai think of all this as they look to release Tekken X Street Fighter – their version of the crossover game. If you thought twice about picking up Street Fighter X Tekken, let us know your thoughts on this.

Capcom has spoken out on the now infamous affair involving those locked DLC characters on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Street Fighter X Tekken. The producer for the game has spoken of his disappointment after seeing the characters unlocked by hacking on the Xbox 360 version of the game.

For those of you that still aren’t aware what happened – here’s a brief recap. The game shipped with 12 locked characters on console that Capcom originally planned to make exclusive to the PS Vita version of the game. After Xbox 360 users hacked the game and unlocked the characters, Capcom has now come clean and announced that PS3 and 360 owners will have to pay $20 to play with the characters when they release officially later this year.

A lot of people are not too happy with Capcom for locking away content on the disc that they paid full price for as you can imagine, and now producer Tomoaki Ayano has revealed that he is ‘pretty disappointed’ that Xbox 360 players have found a way to hack the game, even using these locked characters in online ranked matches against legit Xbox 360 players as a further kick in the teeth.

Ayano has spoke about this in an interview with GameSpot, saying that he was also a bit ‘surprised’ at the level of skill that these hackers have in being able to unlock the characters in this way. Disappointment is the key word mentioned several times by the man though, but would you argue that the company brought it on themselves?

If they didn’t lock the content away in the first place, there would have been nothing to hack. We suppose they may have felt that they needed to adopt a different DLC strategy after fans didn’t particularly like the various ‘ultimate’ editions of games that they keep bringing out.

Capcom are disappointed that their game has been hacked, but are you disappointed that the company are not treating their customers with respect? You can bet that they won’t be pulling similar stunts with future games from now on – or will they?

Here’s some good news at last to bring you regarding Street Fighter X Tekken. After the now-infamous shenanigans involving on-disc DLC, Capcom has announced that the PS Vita version of the game will feature cross-platform multiplayer with the PS3 version.

So far Capcom has only announced exclusive Vita only characters to the portable version of the game, but we’re glad to see that they have now confirmed the one big feature that was high on the request list for a lot of you.

It now means that when the game releases this Fall on the PS Vita, you’ll be able to do battle online over WiFi with your PS3 friends, but that’s not all. Capcom has also mentioned that battles will be possible over 3G as well, which is a surprise to us since it is a general presumption at the moment that the Vita can only handle true online play over WiFi.

Their press release states otherwise though, and it’s great news to think that you’ll be able to take on a PS3 player at home using an arcade stick, while you’re on the bus with your Vita over 3G. Don’t forget that the Vita version will also feature Near functionality as well, giving you the option of searching for nearby fighters in your vicinity.

Along with the announcement, Capcom also unveiled a new batch of screenshots as well as an excellent seven minute story trailer. You can check out the images over at Joystiq, but we’ve included the video for you below. Let’s hope that other developers follow Capcom’s lead and bring more PS3 / Vita cross platform over 3G games to the system soon. All owners will agree right now that the Vita is in serious need of some fresh titles.

It also poses a question about the upcoming Call of Duty game as well. Will it feature cross-platform multiplayer with Black Ops 2 as well? What a mouth-watering prospect that is.

After the initial Street Fighter X Tekken DLC character ‘scandal’ emerged two weeks ago, Capcom has now announced the price in which console players will have to pay in order to get the 12 extra fighters that were already on disc.

As expected, you’re not going to like it. We were secretly hoping that Capcom may come to their senses and tell everyone that the content would be a free download to make up for the fact that the content is still locked on the disc no matter how you look at it, but sadly this will not be the case.

Capcom has announced that the price of the characters will be $20 on the PlayStation Store or 1600 Microsoft Points for those of you who unfortunately have the Xbox 360 version. We say unfortunately as it has also been revealed post-release that the Xbox 360 copy won’t allow for local online co-op, contrary to the manual stating otherwise and perhaps worse yet – this feature working fine on PS3.

Just to refresh your memory, the 12 characters in question are Jack, Lei, Lars, Christie, Alisa and Bryan from the Tekken side and Blanka, Dudley, Cody, Guy, Elena and Sakura from the Street Fighter side. These 12 characters were originally announced as a PS Vita exclusive, and will come at no extra charge when the game releases later this year.

Capcom community manager Brett Elston has said in a statement via Eurogamer that the price ‘Won’t break the bank’, but we have a feeling that most of you are still not going to be satisfied with the end result. Some gamers are taking it worse than others, as we’ve seen plenty of instances of these new characters already in action, in ranked matches due to hacked copies on the Xbox 360 version.

Further kick in the teeth: At just under $2 a character though – do you see this as a fair outcome, or should Capcom be making this completely free? It’s not exactly ideal that legit console players on Xbox 360 are having to deal with seeing the new characters online in matches, characters which they’ll have to pay for in several months time.

Have you seen the 12 characters online in Xbox 360 ranked matches already?

We have another concerning piece of info to bring you now regarding Street Fighter X Tekken, as just days after it emerged that Capcom had locked away DLC characters on the disc for use at a later date, it has now been revealed that the Xbox 360 is missing a huge gameplay feature that works fine on the PS3 version of the game.

In a new twist of events, it turns out that two players on PS3 can go online together and slug it out in a co-op tag team battle, simply by pressing start on the second controller. For some bizarre reason, this feature isn’t included in the Xbox 360 version of the game, despite the fact that the game manual states otherwise.

Capcom has already acknowledged this on their official forum and unfortunately, it looks like this isn’t an issue which can be patched up in a future update on Xbox 360. Christian Svensson, Senior Vice-President for the company has issued a ‘team statement’ saying that the reason is due differences between the PSN and Xbox Live architecture, but we would question that immediately since the likes of Mortal Kombat allows co-op online play locally no problem, and countless other Xbox 360 games as well.

On a positive note, we’ve spotted on Seth Killian’s Twitter account that a meeting has now been scheduled by the Japanese dev team to discuss this major oversight, so it looks like Xbox 360 owners will be getting their answers soon.

It doesn’t look good for Capcom though at the moment, especially since it this feature was advertised in the game manual – This could lead to a lot of gamers claiming a refund back from retailers due to false advertising of course. After the DLC headache, this is not what Xbox 360 users wanted to see in all honesty.

What are your thoughts on this missing feature, Xbox 360 owners?

Oh dear. Just when you thought Capcom’s DLC shenanigans may be a thing of the past, it has emerged that the company may be up to their old tricks by including all of the Street Fighter X Tekken DLC characters on disc, and more.

The game is not due out until later this week, but Xbox 360 hackers have already got hold of some copies and have explored the inner depths of the disc. To everyone’s surprise (or not), the DLC characters that are supposed to be included on the PS Vita and won’t be included on console at launch have been located and outed in spectacular fashion on YouTube.

A whole barrage of media is now available to view, clips detailing DLC character gameplay, intro videos and even the ending videos as well. Unsurprisingly, Capcom are yet to comment on this but they are trying to remove the videos from YouTube as we speak.

Just to clarify, these DLC characters have been announced for console already, but it is very unlikely that they will be coming at launch, since we guessing Sony has some exclusive agreement in place so they appear on the PS Vita version first. These are twelve separate DLC characters that the Vita will get, and all 12 have been located on the Xbox 360 disc.

Capcom definitely has some explaining to do here. If they were planning to charge a fee for these on console, it is probably a good idea to make them free now as it does look like they have well and truly been rumbled. If you were planning to pick up the game this week on console, let us know your thoughts on this.

What should be the next step for Capcom? You can find all of the videos on YouTube easily if you want to check out the DLC characters early, including Megaman – Below is one example of his intro video already on disc.

Gamers may be feeling a little starved lately with the lack of big name releases on console, but Ninja Gaiden 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken are just two examples of big games that are launching soon and have just been given an early review over in Japan.

The return of Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden 3 is scheduled for mid March, but you’ll be able to get your hands on Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken crossover brawler much sooner starting from March 6 in the EU and March 8 over in Europe.

They are obviously two contrasting games, but since they are both handled by Japanese developers it’s no surprise to see that popular Japanese publication Famitsu have received first dibs on reviews for both games before we see any reviews pop up over here. The outcome of review scores may be a surprise to some of you, as we can tell you that Famitsu has actually given Ninja Gaiden 3 a higher score than Street Fighter X Tekken.

The game from Team Ninja managed a 36/40 score from the magazine, while Street Fighter X Tekken could only manage a 34/40 review score, as noted by TheSilentChief. For those of you who are wondering, Famitsu actually awarded Street Fighter IV with the exact same 34/40 score, so it’s quite interesting to see that it appears that not much has changed from Street Fighter IV to SFXT in order for them to increase the score from a 34/40. We’ve also done a little digging and found out that Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 got a 35/40 score from Famitsu back in 2009, so they have given the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 3 a slightly higher review, just.

Is this a case of mixed emotions for you right now? Some of you may have felt that Ninja Gaiden 3 wasn’t going to be as good as Ninja Gaiden 2, while you would have presumed that Street Fighter X Tekken would be a big hit with Famitsu since this is the first time that we have seen the two huge Japanese franchises merge together in one game. In reality though, a 34/40 isn’t bad at all so we doubt that it isn’t going to discourage gamers too much as they decide on whether to pick the game up or not.

Will you now pay a little more interest to Ninja Gaiden 3 after seeing this impressive review score?
