We start with welcome news for those who own a Sony PS3, TV, Blu-ray player or a Roku device, as Crackle’s free movies are now streaming, giving you the ultimate in TV series and Full-Length Hollywood Blockbusters.

For those of you with a Netflix subscription you will know that you not only have access to movies, but a back-catalog of TV shows. However, the only issue with these is that they are old shows, so are hoping to offer subscribers the chance to stream all the latest episodes.

Christina Warren from Mashable says that Netflix are not worried about paying the price either, with suggestions that they will pay up to $100,000 per episode of new TV episodes. Having first-run content will be a huge deal to the online-streaming service, and will not doubt help take the fight to the ever-popular Hulu Plus service, which was recently reduced in price.

Netflix currently has no competition when it comes to movie streaming, but we all know that Hulu Plus and other services are giving them something to think about when it comes to streaming TV show content. This latest move shows that Netflix are not afraid to pay the price to become the number one in both areas of online streaming content.

For some time now Netfilx has been a season behind first-run TV show content, this is something that Hulu Plus has been able to take advantage of. However, we have to wonder what affects this latest news will have on the Hula service, as we know that Netflix has a bigger reach, and offering this new content could be a big draw for current Hulu subscribers as well?

I have some great news for all you movie lovers out there. According to an article written by Johnny Cullen over at vg247.com, PS3 owners in the UK will be able to get Lovefilm sometime in November, although we are still waiting on an exact date.

There was a video on YouTube that provided confirmation, but since writing this article it appears to have been removed. I personally can’t wait if this service is indeed going to arrive on our PS3s. It is said that there will be no extra charges for existing mail customers.

The application will be accessible from the XMB menu and is a subscription-based service, which is going to allow you to stream instantly from a database of thousands of movies. Existing members can also control their Blu-ray and DVD rentals.

What do you think about the Lovefilm streaming service coming to the PS3?

Google TV is not in need of any more publicity, but last nights ABC’s Nightline segment on the device has certainly opened our eyes to the remote used to control it. The Sony controller that will come with Sony’s Google TV device is like nothing we have even seen – well apart from an old Atari Jaguar gamepad, that’s what Devindra Hardawar from Venture Beat believes.

You can clearly see by the images and video onEngadget that the controller comes with two directional pads and a full QWERTY keyboard – making searching much easier than it is on Apple TV.

Hardawar is right to point out that the device for the most part is very functional, but when it comes to being user-friendly it is lacking. LG also has a control for their Google TV device, but they have gone the other way and kept things too simple.

I am certain that in time there will be a host of Android apps that will do the job of the controller, this for me will be the better solution – as long as you have an Android handset that is.

Apple has now released their second-generation Apple TV device, while Google has yet to release theirs. However, looking at some recent news it looks as though the content offering from Google looks to be far greater.

Yesterday Google decided to offer a preview of some of their content from their media partners, and the early signs looks as if the search engine’s TV offering has much more to offer – something that could go against the new Apple TV, which has had poor reviews so far.

Google will not be like Apple and build their own hardware; instead they will copy the formula that has worked for them with their Android phones, and get the likes of Sony and other hardware partners to do all the hard work.

AppleInsider has reported that both TV devices have scared away lucrative deals, as they are in direct competition with current set-top boxes. Do you think that there is a future for Google or Apple TV, and if so, which one will win out?

The Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games is well underway, and for those who would like to be kept up-to-date with all what is going on we can suggest a couple of ways. The first is via Twitter, and the second is with a mobile app accessed on your smartphone.

First let us take a look at the Twitter page @commonwealthdel, which is the official page for the XIX Commonwealth Games. Currently there are 5,962 – not exactly the amount that followed the 2008 Olympic Games.

The mobile application has been developed by Zoomi and offers a host of features, such as news, videos, photos, standings and much more. What’s more, if you are in the Delhi area, then you will never get bored, as there are all kinds of information about the area. For more details on the app visit SmileofIndia.

We know that not many people have been turning up to watch the games live, so this app looks set to be a very popular way to stay up-to-date with all what is going in from the Commonwealth Games.

More About: Commonwealth Games, Sports, streaming

At the start of July we reported some news on the latest move by the U.S. government to crack down on online movie pirates, which included nine websites being shut down for streaming video illegally.

Over the past two weeks we have noticed some interesting feedback from those that viewed this news. First we see that most users feel that there is no new Ninja video site, which can give them the free streaming they had before, and the second thing we noticed was the reasons people gave for choosing to stream.

Most people would buy their media if they could purchase a product that could give streaming to any computer they want to be using at that time. Apple iTunes has a big user base, and these people buy movies and music with costs running into thousands, but they are limited to only five computers.

It’s understandable that this is to prevent people using the media on other people’s computers, but at the same time it seems this is one of the biggest reasons NinjaVideo.net users gave, after the site was shut down.

Do you agree with this? What are your reasons for streaming, and not buying?

There is no denying how awesome the Sony PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 are, but there are a few things that both game consoles could do with – one of them is the ability to stream media from a computer or media server. A software update from Popgoplug will now make this possible.

Cnet News has used Pogoplug before and remarked on how easy and affordable it was. So we know that things ran smoothly on some of their other products, so how will this new software perform?

By offering support for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, Pogoplug now makes it possible to share your photos, music and videos by transferring them to your Mac or PC with ease. Cnet has not had a chance to try the software out just yet, but will update us when they do.

Pogoplug’s recent update also allows you to make constant backups from specified folders, changing files while the folder is in use, copying changes to other Pogoplug location and much more. The price for this new Pogoplug from Cloud Engines is $129.
