A lot of criticism has been aimed at the new Star Wars Kinect game on the Xbox 360. The title is currently getting trounced on Metacritic, but for all those that are yet to sample the new effort from LucasArts – here’s your chance.

We’re pleased to say that Microsoft has now put a surprise demo of the game up on the Xbox Live Marketplace and it’s available to download and add to your queue right now. It weighs in at a hefty 2GB, but it does contain a generous amount of gameplay, giving you the opportunity to try out various aspects of the game.

There will be no YMCA stormtrooper dancing in the demo we’re pleased to say as nobody really wants to see that, but you will get to experience ‘Jedi Destiny, Rancor Rampage and Podracing’ as stated on Major Nelson’s blog. Combining a Star Wars game and motion controls via Kinect was always going to be a challenge and it looks like the addition of Kinect may be responsible for the collection of mixed reviews that you now see on Metacritic.

At the moment, the game has an average of just 55 and if you follow their ratings closely before buying a game, you’ll know that a 55 isn’t exactly boast worthy. However, the demo now presents you with a great opportunity to try out the game before potentially regretting a purchase, so there’s no harm in giving this a go.

For those of you that already bought the game – do you regret it? Is the harsh Metacritic score justified or not? We’re still dreaming of seeing a remake of our favorite Star Wars game to date – Jedi Power Battles on the PS1, what a game that was.

Last month we had the news that the Star Wars Kinect title was tipped to launch sometime in April. At the time we didn’t have a more specific release date. Today we have a Star Wars Kinect Xbox 360 Limited Edition hands on for you as the game gets a release date.

As it was believed before the game is being released in April and on the 3rd to be more precise. The team over at Pocket lint has been lucky enough to have spent some actual time with the special version of the console. This is not the first Xbox 360 limited edition to be released, but this looks a totally different ball game to what’s been seen before.

This special edition comes with an Xbox 360 packing a 320GB hard drive, and will remind you of R2D2 with its blue and white color scheme. It doesn’t end there as when you press the eject button for the disc tray you are met with the iconic R2D2 sound effects. You will also hear that famous line “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope”.

There is a matching white Kinect that has black panels underneath, and then you have the special gold controller to reflect the polished gold plating found on C-3PO. You may find it covered in your finger marks pretty quick though, and it also features the colored wiring from the famous droid.

Some may find the glossy finish a problem with grip and on the bottom you will find the standard black textured surface. Obviously with the actual game you won’t even need to use the controller anyway. Finally you get a black headset with all the usual cables and connections.

Both the game and the Xbox 360 bundle will be available from the April 3rd with the bundle costing $449.99/£349.99 at various retailers. Will you be getting either the game of the Xbox 360 bundle?

When Nintendo first brought us the Wii it changed gaming forever with the way we interact with video games. The system has been arguably passed by the offering from Microsoft for the Xbox 360, and there are a number of great titles already available or waiting in the wings. One such title is the Kinect Star Wars that may have had its release date outed.

The game has seen a lengthy delay and may have finally been given a release date, but not via the standard route. UK retailer Argos has just launched its new spring/summer catalogue, and according to a report on MCV the game is listed for an April release.

Designed exclusively for the Xbox 360 Kinect motion controller, the game has been praised and criticized for its game play during its development. It has to be remembered though that this listing could be wrong, but the Microsoft Game Studios had previously said the game would finally launch this spring, so it may be accurate.

The retailer normally brings out two new catalogues each year and could have easily guessed at the release date. When Microsoft were contacted regarding the date the spring time frame was confirmed, and that the company will have more news to reveal soon.

It also makes you wonder if the game could find its way onto Windows with the release of the Kinect device for the platform fast approaching. Meanwhile strangely Amazon has the game listed for a December 31st 2012 shipping date.

Will you be getting Kinect Star Wars?
