As most of you will already know by visting the Google homepage today, it is St Patrick’s Day 2011. The web search giant is celebrating today in style with a couple of of themed Google Doodle designs – yes, there is more than one today.

Today is obviously all about celebrating the Irish culture, whether that means enjoying a cold pint of guinness or wearing green colors, joining a parade or trying to perfect your homemade corned beef and cabbage recipe.

Google are obviously in the mood today, as it’s not often you see them display two Google doodles. The one below is what you see at the US homepage:

There is also a completely different St Patrick’s Day doodle for when you visit the Irish Google homeage, check it out below.

Which one do you think looks best? The Irish one is obviously a bit more artistic, so we have a feeling you may favor that one. Both doodle’s redirect to the main search results for St Patrick’s Day though, where you can view a lot more information about the history of St Patrick’s Day on the Wikipedia page here.

How will you be celebrating today? Are you off work today or do still have to go into the office?

UPDATE: It appears that there isn’t a US Google doodle for St Patrick’s Day at the moment, only the Google.ie one is showing. Do you think there should have been a doodle for the US?

Although wearing something green on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) is an age-old concept, it could well be classed as an outdated one. Rather than scouring your wardrobe for something green to wear, you could always go and get yourself an eco-friendly “green” gadget instead.

There are many “green,” eco-friendly gadgets to choose from these days, and Lauren Fairbanks over on the sheknows.com website has provided a few ideas. For example, you could always go out and purchase the Voltaic Generator Solar-Energy Laptop Bag.

If you’re fed up with having to charge your laptop every few hours while you’re on the go, then this is the ideal gadget for you. The Voltaic Solar-Energy laptop bag has 15 watts of power, and is manufactured from eco-friendly, recycled soda bottles.

Another great gadget to consider is the Clean Energy Water Clock. The eco-clock is attached to 2 small pots that you grow either a flower or a plant in. The eco-friendly gadget then uses the energy from the damp soil or water to run the mechanism of the clock.

The third gadget mentioned is the Thinksound Wooden Headphones. These earphones are both eco-friendly and user-friendly. They feature trendy looking wooden earpieces that offer a clearer and crisper sound, as well as minimizing ambient sounds.

Do you own any “green,” eco-friendly gadgets?

As you may know, today is St. Patrick’s Day and is the day that all Irish people celebrate. Many of you get the wrong idea about the Irish, today is not all about drinking, it is about having fun with your friends and family. Twitter has a great section all about where to get shamrocked.

There has certainly been some great feedback for looking at all those Tweets. I have been reading a lot about a Shamrock shake from McDonalds, but I am not sure what that is. Please could someone let me know below? There is even Shamrock bread and soup, I feel like I am missing out.

If you visit the LA Times they list some events that are going on, view them to see what one you will be going to. If you visit The Echo you will see Ollin performing the Pogues, along with a number of other traditional songs.

Please let us know what you plan to do today, and come back tomorrow and let us know how it all went. if you have some spare time then take a look at these drinking apps for St. Patrick’s Day.
