With the release of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures just days away we still await the barrage of reviews for the spin-off game, but there has been one review and it shows that there is great promise for the new direction of this franchise. The game is said to offer a revolutionary experience, which is due to the fact that you can collect a toy as you progress through the game.

We mentioned above that this being a new path for the franchise, but it is an entirely new one, as it sees our little dragon taking a commanding seat. There are so many other games coming to market ready for the holiday season onslaught, but you should not pass this title over lightly, as there are many layers to Spyro’s Adventure, you just need to peel them away to reveal the fun.

If you are looking for a game that has a huge amount of imagination, then you cannot go wrong here. There are games that come to market that have toys released that do not do the character justice, but that cannot be said here, as they are ever so lifelike. It’s this attention to detail that could make this a popular choice with the kids this Christmas.

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure is not all about shooting anything in sight; you need to use your skill in order to decipher puzzles in order to progress in the game. Kids will never get bored here, as they have a choice of 32 characters, and if you buy more than one at a time you are then rewarded with little treats that will help your experience within the game.

We look forward to when the real reviews become available online, but for now we do hope that you give Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure some serious thought?

PlayStation Plus subscribers have had access to some pretty neat content since the service first launched back in the summer of this year, including the DC Universe Online beta. Now we have news of another PlayStation Plus update that’s arriving on January 4th, which includes a Spyro the Dragon download.

According to a recent article over at kingps3.com, PlayStation Plus subscribers have a few free games to look forward to come January 4th, including the PSone classic (and a favorite of mine) Spyro the Dragon, western shooter Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West and the exclusive download of Pipe Madness.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Spyro the Dragon title, it’s a popular platform game – developed by Insomniac Games and first released back in 1998 – that features the young purple dragon named Spyro and his dragonfly friend, Sparx.

As reported by Grace Chen (Senior Manager of PlayStation Store) over at blog.us.playstation.com, the Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is a third person multiplayer shooter set in the Wild West. The PlayStation Plus update will also bring a free Underwater Disco Theme, and a Rival School Avatar Bundle.

You can read more about the upcoming update via the US PS Blog here. Are you a PlayStation Plus subscriber? If you are, what game are you most looking forward to in the update?
