It has been over a month since Sprint announced their latest flagship handset and we’re pleased to say that the highly anticipated HTC EVO 4G LTE is now available to pre-order. That’s where the good news ends though, as there appears to be some confusion on when the device will actually ship.

Right now, you can head to Sprint’s official website and pre-order the device for $199 on a two-year contract, once you have typed in your zip code. Before you rush out and pre-order though, you may want to shop around for better deals – for good reason.

Wirefly has also gone live with their HTC EVO 4G pre-order page and have already slashed $50 off Sprint’s asking price for the device. It means that you can pick up the device for a very reasonable $150 on contract and don’t forget that it also comes with $10 of free Google Wallet credit if you’re signing up for the NFC service for the very first time.

As Engadget noticed though, Wirefly were also initially willing to disclose a few additional details that the official Sprint website did not, including a solid release date for the device. As seen in this screenshot here, you can clearly see that an May 18 release date is mentioned, but if you head to Wirefly’s EVO 4G LTE page now you’ll see that the release date information has disappeared. Has Sprint been on to them straight away to remove the information asap? It looks that way to us.

If correct, May 18 isn’t too long away but it still gives you a good while to hold out for some even better deals from other online retailers. We have a feeling that some other sellers may be willing to part with some free accessories like we’ve seen in the past so it is well worth keeping your eyes open.

We will let you know if the release date status changes over the next few days, but for now make a note of May 18 for the glorious launch. If you are hunting for the best deals online at the moment, let us know if you have spotted anything better than the $150 price that Wirefly are offering.

Some of you may have thought that the Sprint Epic Touch 4G would be given the cold shoulder from now on, with new devices such as the EVO 4G LTE and the Galaxy Nexus arriving on the network. Well we have some good news for you, as Sprint has just confirmed that the device is far from finished just yet and is on the waiting list to receive an official update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Epic Touch 4G launched back in September of 2011 and was available to buy for $199 with a two-year contract. With those two new devices mentioned above on the way though, you may have become a little concerned that Sprint may stop support of the Epic 4G Touch in order to focus on their new prized assets.

We’re glad to see that this won’t be the case just yet. There’s no official date attached unfortunately, but an announcement on the Sprint forums confirms that the device will definitely receive an update to the latest version of Android, and will be joined by a few other notable handsets as well. The Galaxy S II will also be getting an update on Sprint, as will the Samsung Nexus S.

While it is always nice to hear some official confirmation direct from Sprint, we have a feeling that those of you who are more tech savvy will already be running unofficial versions of ICS anyway. Right now, it’s not particularly hard to find a custom version of Android 4.0 for the Epic 4G Touch and from what we gather it’s a pretty stable build as well.

How is your Epic 4G Touch handling at the moment? Are you still running Gingerbread, or are you more than happy with a custom version of ICS? We’ll let you know once Sprint finalizes a date.

It looks like Sprint customers really will have a tough decision to make this month. Last week we told you about the rumors regarding an April 22 launch date for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus and now the company has just made things official this week.

Fresh from their official unveiling of the brand new HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone, it means that Sprint customers now have the option of choosing the mighty Galaxy Nexus instead.

The phone will launch on April 22nd, priced at $199 on a two-year contract with the carrier. Those who are looking to get one right away can pre-order straight away at the website here, but for those that are still on the fence, Sprint has teamed up with Google Wallet for a great little incentive for you.

As most of you should know, the Sprint version will come with Google Wallet support at launch. For those that pick up a Galaxy Nexus and activate a Google Wallet account within a month, Google will be crediting you with an instant $10 free to spend on what ever you wish. It gets better though – within free weeks of activating Google Wallet between April 22 and May 22, you’ll get an additional $40 – bringing your total free swag to $50! That’s not bad at all and what a great way to entice consumers to try out Google Wallet for the first time.

As far as we know, this offer was not available for the Verizon version of the device, so you should really take advantage of this if you are considering the Galaxy Nexus. Don’t forget that Sprint’s version will also include 4G LTE support as soon as the service goes live later this year.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is obviously another nice attraction on Sprint, but this is $50 free we’re talking about here. Let us know if you plan to take advantage of it – remember you can pre-order the device already.

Sprint has just announced the impressive looking HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone to the world, but if recent rumors are to be believed, HTC may be facing competition from a Sprint version of Verizon’s popular Galaxy Nexus phone from Samsung.

There’s no doubt that the Galaxy Nexus remains one of the smartphone superpowers in the industry right now, and it would be a fantastic coup for Sprint if they were able to add the device to their growing lineup.

Don’t forget that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus is not really a secret. You may have forgot that Sprint actually announced their version of the device at CES 2012, but due to expected Verizon exclusivity, customers have yet to see the elusive device appear on their network. The wait may be worth while though, as a Best Buy inventory leak has revealed that Sprint will release the device on April 22.

Just to remind you, when the device does actually arrive it will boast 4G LTE connectivity like the Evo 4G LTE and Google Wallet from day one as well. It also means that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus will arrive before the already official Evo 4G LTE, meaning that you’ll be faced with a difficult decision on whether to pick up the Galaxy Nexus, or wait for the Evo 4G LTE which may not release until May.

Sprint’s 4G LTE network has been a long time coming, but it looks like the company have two amazing smartphones to firmly compete with rival networks AT&T and Verizon. If you had to make an immediate choice between the Galaxy Nexus or the Evo 4G LTE on Sprint – what handset would you choose and why?

So Sprint has finally unveiled their next flagship smartphone, but it wasn’t the EVO ‘One’ name that we all expected to see. Instead the company officially unwrapped the not so glamorous HTC Evo 4G LTE, but it still packs some very impressive features.

For Sprint customers, it is easily the best smartphone to date on the network and still arguably the best Android smartphone on paper. For a US first, Sprint announced that the Evo 4G LTE would be the first smartphone to feature HD Voice, which promises unrivaled call quality that perhaps even the Apple iPhone cannot match.

The technology is already available sporadically in Europe, but Sprint has got themselves a major coup by bringing HD Voice to the US for the first time with the Evo 4G LTE.

As for the hardware specs, they largely match up with the AT&T One X as expected, but there is one major disappointment which sticks out for us. The device will feature a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, a 4.7-inch display and an 8MP camera just like the HTC One X, but after heavy speculation that Sprint’s device would feature a battery similar to that of the beastly Droid RAZR MAXX, we’re sad to see that HTC has just put a standard battery inside the Evo 4G LTE.

We were really looking forward to seeing that 2,650mAh battery in an official capacity, but instead Sprint has revealed that the Evo 4G LTE will just pack a 2,000mAh battery instead. Sprint customers will still get a slight battery life advantage over the HTC One X on AT&T which packs a paltry 1800mAh battery, but we think you’ll agree with us that just 2,000mAh is not what anyone expected to see – especially with the heavy emphasis on 4G LTE data support.

Then again, Sprint customers may not really care about the battery overlook. Some users may not be heavy data users as others, and just having a top of the range Android 4.0 phone with 4G support could be sufficient enough. It means that the Droid RAZR MAXX is still in another league in terms of battery life potential, but we just hope that future Android releases this year will attempt to close the gap.

What is your initial reaction to the HTC Evo 4G LTE on Sprint? Is it already your next smartphone, or are you a little disappointed that it didn’t include a bigger battery? We have a feeling that the HTC One X is going to struggle with just 1,800mAh – let’s hope that the 200mAh extra juice in the Evo 4G LTE makes the difference.

AT&T customers are patiently waiting for the glorious arrival of the HTC One X smartphone, but it looks like Sprint fans are in for a treat too. We’re hearing that a variant of the One X is coming to Sprint and it could be unveiled next month as the HTC EVO One.

It’s a well known secret now that Sprint will soon launch their 4G LTE network to match those from Verizon and now AT&T which are now well established. In order for this to be a success they need a new flagship handset to gain the interest of consumers, and what better way for it to be Sprint’s version of arguably the best Android smartphone announced so far.

The HTC One X will arrive on AT&T in the coming months and judging by recent benchmark results, it’s going to be the fastest Android phone ever – easily eclipsing Verizon’s best handset in the Galaxy Nexus. Android Central has gained intel from an insider that April 4th will see the official unveiling of the EVO One for Sprint, and that a release will happen sometime during June.

Specs will largely be the same as the One X, and being LTE-based, it will only feature a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor unlike the International version which packs a Tegra 3 1.5Ghz quad-core+1 chip. This is by no means a hindrance though as the benchmark tests from the AT&T version proved that the Snapdragon S4 chip is still capable of competing with the best quad-core chips out there at the moment. Other impressive specs include an HD 4.7-inch AMOLED display, an 8 megapixel rear camera with 2MP front-camera and of course Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0 UI on top.

Like all recent HTC smartphones, this will be another Beats Audio device, but there’s no indication yet if this will have support for NFC to take advantage of features such as Android Beam and Google Wallet. The most pleasing aspect from our point of view is that the initial specs list also reveals a possible 2,650mAh battery, which is remarkable considering that the AT&T One X only features a 1,600mAh battery.

That is over 1,000mAh of extra juice to utilize, so that makes the Sprint version a lot better on paper from where we’re standing. Surely HTC wouldn’t alienate AT&T One X buyers in this way with the huge difference in battery capacity? At the moment though, these specs are still pending until the big reveal on April 4th. If you were previously dead set on picking up a HTC One X from AT&T, let us know if you’re now thinking about changing your mind for a 2,650mAh beast from Sprint instead.

Last week the world finally saw the announcement of the third-generation iPad, but as far as Sprint consumers in the US are concerned, it seems like another missed opportunity has passed as the iPad is still unavailable on the network.

AT&T and Verizon are seemingly in favor with Apple at the moment, despite the fact that Sprint consumers are now able to officially pick up the iPhone 4 and 4S on the network. The iPad remains the elusive device yet to appear though, but some recent rumors may suggest that there may be light at the end of the tunnel after all.

A recent image revealed by Engadget shows that Best Buy are already making plans for an apparent iPad release on Sprint, with not just one inventory listing but several. The source has since updated their article, stating that they have spoken with several Best Buy employees who have confirmed the existence of an iPad on Sprint.

It wouldn’t be a complete surprise if the iPad did show up on Sprint some time in the year anyway. One possible scenario why we didn’t see Apple include Sprint in their ‘new iPad’ fun and games was because Sprint’s 4G LTE network obviously isn’t ready yet. One of the standout features of the third-generation model is that it finally has support for 4G LTE networks on both AT&T and Verizon, so perhaps Apple didn’t want to make the new iPad available on Sprint with just 3G only.

Having said that, the company has made the somewhat bizarre decision to release the new iPad in Hong Kong with a WiFi option only. Mobile operators haven’t got their 4G LTE networks up and running yet, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that there isn’t even a 3G option available for the new iPad.

With that minor grunt aside, let us know your thoughts on the lack of a Sprint iPad at the moment. Do you expect to see one become available later on this year? More importantly – would you prefer a 4G LTE iPad on Sprint ahead of Verizon and AT&T?

Before the latest iPhone was released back in October much was made how carrier Sprint would fair if the device failed to arrive on the network. After months of speculation it finally arrived and the iPhone 4S release brings some cheer to Sprint.

The carrier currently sits third in the US behind AT&T and Verizon, but it has announced that it managed to shift 1.8 million iPhones during the fourth quarter of 2011. According to an article on AppleInsider forty percent of these were brand new subscribers.

During the busy holiday season the carrier saw both the iPhone 4 and 4S become available for the first time, which saw records broken for the carriers one day sales, and now we have some indication of the figures involved.

Sprint managed to add 1.6 million subscribers during the quarter that was the best results the carrier has seen in six years. Out of this figure 720,000 of the new subscribers took up the iPhone, which represents 45 percent.

Dan Hesse Sprint CEO said that over the last year the network had added over five million new subscribers and added that the “momentum gives us confidence as we execute our Network Vision upgrade and 4G LTE roll-out”.

These figures compare to AT&Ts 7.6 million iPhone activations, which accounted for over eighty percent of the carriers activations during the holiday season. Meanwhile Verizon managed to add 4.2 million iPhones during the same quarter, which accounted for over fifty percent of the smartphones activated by the carrier.

Sprint saw its largest increase in revenues in over five years and now has over 55 million subscribers, which is the highest ever total. The iPhone has come at a big cost to Sprint though as according to Cnet the carrier reported a loss of $1.3 billion. Like rival carriers Sprint had to pay out big subsidies to Apple to offer the iPhone.

The carrier has also had the added costs of rolling out its own 4G LTE network, but long term having the iPhone will see revenues increasing. Before the device was available on the carrier many subscribers left to join rival networks who could offer the iPhone. Did you join Sprint because of the iPhone?

Customers of the Sprint network were treated to the iPhone 4S when it was released late last year, and would have made use of the great camera. Today we have some important information for all users of the carrier as the Sprint Picture Mail service is closing, and action is needed now.

Many Sprint customers may have sent or received images and videos via their Sprint handset, which means they may be stored on the carriers Sprint.com/picturemail website. The company has announced they will soon be stopping the online storage service, so users are being advised to save any content to their PC or other online service. This has to be done before the 30th of April 2012.

Users will still be able to take, share, or receive images and video as they are only losing the ability to store and sort them online. Sprint customers are advised to begin with organizing their content by dragging and dropping them into albums.

Doing this will then allow you to share the content with friends and download them to your PC. Albums and images can then be uploaded to a site such as Facebook, Flicker, MySpace, Photobucket, YouTube, and more.

Once you have an account with the destination site you are ready to go, and all that is needed to execute the action is a quick click on the Add a Place option via your Picture Mail page. If you are unsure if any content is stored online first head over to sprint.com/picturemail. Clicking the help option will give you detailed instructions on how to move your content.

Head over to the Sprint Community for more information. Do you have content stored on the Sprint website?

Earlier this month an ad for the CES event in Las Vegas emerged that seemed to indicate the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was inbound to the Sprint network, and then a few days later a sign up page for the device appeared on the carrier’s website. Now it seems the Sprint Galaxy Nexus release is closer as a Google signup page opens.

Sprint customers can now use the signup page on Google to register for more information about the handset, even though it’s been known the device is coming to the network for a few weeks now. As Android Central is reporting there will be many subscribers on the network interested in getting the Android Ice Cream running device.

There is a good chance the Galaxy Nexus will be the carriers first 4G LTE device, which will be coupled with 32GB of storage. Some believe the device will have some different features compared to the Verizon variant. These include a higher processor speed with a possible 1.5GHz unit, but this came from an early advertisement that could have easily been a misprint.

When the device was at the CES show it was made difficult for anyone to get on camera an image of the rear of the handset, which has led to speculation that the Sprint version may have a larger battery. There is no release date for the device so far, but hopefully we may get some news at next month’s Mobile World Congress.

Are you interested in the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint?
