Over the years Ubisoft has released hundreds of successful games, however it would be fair to say that ‘gritty’ and ‘violent’ aren’t words that would describe many of them, however that’s exactly what words we would use to describe the I Am Alive gameplay trailer we just watched.

We have embedded a video at the bottom of this page and it really does look like I Am Alive is something completely new from Ubisoft, rather than running in ‘all guns blazing’ we are told to keep out of sight when possible and if you have to fight, keep your cool. You have a gun if you need to use it, but we are also told to conserve ammo, luckily simply showing the enemy your gun can be enough to scare them away.

At times machete wielding enemies will call your bluff and start an altercation, in these situations you must not waste any time, take out the enemies with as few bullets as possible, methods seen in the video are quite gory such as slashing someone’s throat and kicking them off a platform so they fall to their death.

The video to us almost reminds us a cross between Splinter Cell’s stealthiness and Manhunt’s graphic violence, the dark lighting at times gives the game a very atmospheric feel and considering the fact that this will be a downloadable title the graphics are pretty neat – check out the video below for yourself to see what we mean.

At the beginning of the video we are told that this game has a PEGI 18 rating, which is unsurprising, we don’t know when it will hit Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network – but we are told that it is coming soon.

Did the trailer impress you?

If you are one of the many PlayStation 3 owners that were looking forward to purchasing the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy when it arrived both in stores and on the PlayStation Network next month, then I’m afraid it looks as though you’ll be waiting a little longer than expected.

As Mark Langshaw over on digitalspy.co.uk notes, recent retail listings appear to suggest that the Splinter Cell Trilogy’s release date has suffered a further delay. The HD collection – which is being released exclusively for the PS3 – was originally due to be launched on March 22nd.

However, the launch date was then unfortunately pushed back to June. Now it appears that GameFly, GameStop and Amazon have listed the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy as launching on August 2nd. Ubisoft has not yet given confirmation on the collection’s new release date.

The only hint that the studio gave about its release date was that it would be sometime this summer. As most of you will already know, the Splinter Cell Trilogy will include updated versions of the original Splinter Cell game, as well as Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

Are you waiting to purchase / download Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy?

When it was first revealed back in August last year that Ubisoft was possibly releasing Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell HD trilogies, it was believed that they would be sold exclusively for the PlayStation 3. However, that may not necessarily be the case.

According to a recent article by Damian Antony Seeto over at justpushstart.com, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board appears to have listed both collections for the Xbox 360, as well as the PS3. If this is true, there are definitely going to be some pretty happy Xbox 360 owners.

As Tom Ivan at CVG reported, the ESRB’s listing includes Splinter Cell HD, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory HD and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow HD remakes, as well as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time HD, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones HD and Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within HD.

Ubisoft has recently released a few screenshots for the upcoming Splinter Cell Compilation, which according to Tom Pakinkis at computerandvideogames.com shows Sam Fisher doing what he does best – maneuvering into absurd areas, grabbing necks and simply crawling around.

Are you an Xbox 360 owner who was disappointed at the thought of the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia trilogies not being released for your platform? If that’s the case, will you buy either of them if they do get released?

Although Ubisoft recently confirmed that there would indeed be a Splinter Cell Trilogy arriving exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2011, they did not reveal a specific release date. All gamers knew at the time was that the collection would include HD updates of the first three Splinter Cell titles.

However, it now appears that the Splinter Cell Compilation – originally known as the Splinter Cell Trilogy – has been given a release date. According to Jonathan Leack over at playstationlifestyle.net, the exclusive PS3 collection is scheduled to be released on March 22nd, 2011.

The Splinter Cell Compilation – which includes an HD update of the original Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell game, as well as the Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory titles – is now available to pre-order from the Amazon.com website, and is priced up at $39.99.

Even though most Splinter Cell fans have likely played (and possibly own) all the games in the Splinter Cell series, they still might like to own the updated HD versions. PS3 gamers have the arrivals of Mass Effect 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Killzone 3 to look forward to before the Splinter Cell Compilation arrives.

Will you be purchasing the Splinter Cell Compilation?

We first heard news about the possible release of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia Trilogies back in August this year, when they appeared on the Amazon France website. Now we have a bit more news for you, as Ubisoft has just confirmed that the Splinter Cell Trilogy will indeed be coming to the PS3 in 2011.

According to a recent article by Andrew Yoon over at joystiq.com, the developer confirmed the upcoming arrival of the Splinter Cell Trilogy to IGN and as previously speculated, it will include HD updates of the original Splinter Cell game as well as Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

As stated at uk.ps3.ign.com, the Splinter Cell Trilogy is just one of the many HD collections to hit the PlayStation 3. The Prince of Persia Trilogy was released earlier this year, and there has been recent confirmation by Crystal Dynamics of a Tomb Raider Trilogy next year.

Unfortunately there were no other details given about the upcoming Splinter Cell Trilogy. Do you think it will be released on Blu-ray disc or via the PlayStation Network like the PoP HD Trilogy? Will you be buying the Splinter Cell HD collection?
