The game itself is said to span across 8 different locations, one of which is completely exclusive to iPhone. There are 11 different levels to complete in these locations, and from what we can see mastering these levels may take some time.

For an iPhone game the graphics and frame-rate seem pretty solid, you can see a few screens here, also worth checking out is the hands-on video embedded at the end of this post.

In the game you will be able to utilize many of the moves that were available in the full Conviction game, such as Last Known Position, Mark & Execute and Silent Kill, all sounds pretty good to me.

As stated in our previous post there will be four new locations, these are the docks of San Francisco, a New Orleans cemetery, a Portland prison and a research complex in Salt Lake City, if you check out this link you can see screens which show off these locations.

At the end of this post we have embedded a couple of our favorite screens from the DLC, the first shows the New Orleans cemetery and the second shows some close-up action in San Franciso.

This DLC is called the “Insurgency Pack” and will be coming to the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Conviction, from what we can see both platform’s versions will arrive on May 27th.

On Xbox Live the DLC will cost you 800 Microsoft Points, this equates to $10 which is the price which PC gamers will have to pay, Xbox 360 gamers will have new achievements to aim for which total up to 250 Gamerscore points.

The DLC itself will consist off four new areas “from the docks of San Francisco to a New Orleans cemetery, a prison in Portland to a hidden research complex in Salt Lake City”, for more details check out the link below.

This is the fifth time this year that Ubisoft have topped the UK charts, last week Ubisoft’s Nintendo Wii release Just Dance topped the charts, however this has been knocked down to second place.

Apparently this is the first time Ubisoft have ever had titles in first and second place simultaneously, this combined with being the fifth week at the top of the UK charts shows that 2010 has been a great year from Ubisoft so far.

The week ending April 17th saw Splinter Cell: Conviction at the top of the charts followed by Just Dance, in third place was Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, fourth place Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and in fifth was Wii Fit Plus.

Over at GamesRadar, they make a very interesting point that every Splinter Cell game to date has always landed on a Playstation console.

They have listed previous games and their release dates for both Xbox and Playstation, leading to a conclusion on when Conviction on the PS3 will land.

Using previous formulas by Ubisoft, they predict that the game could land on July 6th at the earliest, and September 12th at the latest.

This timed-exclusive business – when will it stop we wonder? Anyway, the latest news is that Ubisoft’s Maxime Béland has given a direct response on whether or not Conviction would be coming to Sony’s console.

Her response was simply: ”We will have to wait and see.” She also had this to share with us: “The decision for Conviction was purely a business move. Microsoft have been wonderful in their support for Conviction.”

If this isnt the strongest hint of a PS3 release, I dont know what is. Don’t forget that not one, but two Ubisoft reps had the game listed as ‘in development for PS3′ on their CVs.

As VG247 reports though, Microsoft appears to have fixed the problem already, so if you were encountering random freezes, you should no longer have any problems.

Ubisoft has now issued the following Twitter post: “Freezing issues with Splinter Cell Conviction have been resolved. Happy sneaking.”

So how are things looking for you at the moment? Some of you were pretty annoyed that the game was experiencing problems so soon after launch, but at least Microsoft and Ubisoft have countered the problem within hours.

An article over at IronstarMovement touches upon the worrying trend, that developers are seemingly beginning to neglect their responsibilities in the single player aspect, in favor of focusing on the multiplayer.

They also ask the important question: Are developers becoming lazy? From my point of view, I dont think lazy is a fair word to use, but then again – it must be pretty frustrating for gamers to spend $60 on a game, only to finish it the very same day.

Where do you stand on this? Do you prefer developers to focus on the single player or multiplayer aspects more? Left 4 Dead, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2 can used as prime examples on this topic.

As reported from Eurogamer, Ubisoft has even gone as far to slashing $10 off the price of the game, meaning that you’ll be able to pick up the CE for $69.99 instead of $79.99.

But what good is a faulty USB drive to gamers – $10 won’t really make a difference if the thing does not work. However, Ubisoft states that this won’t affect ‘all’ drives, as most will be working fine.

If you do encounter a problem with it though, you’ll still be able to access the bonus content found on the USB key, via an online method which Ubisoft will be detailing soon.

What are your thoughts on this? It sounds a bit suspect to me. Game is due out tomorrow in the US.

As reported from Playstation Lifestyle, this is just the latest news following months of ongoing speculation surrounding a PS3 release for the game.
