The release of the new game has been fairly low key despite developers Beenox having quite a reputation when it comes to the movie-to-games business, responsible for the likes of the Bee Movie Game, Quantum of Solace and Monsters vs. Aliens.

The new game is yet to get an official announcement but the news came courtesy of IGN who were able to capture a shot of a poster promoting next year’s movie at New York Comic-Con. The image revealed that Activision will inevitably publish the new game, meaning they will most likely use Beenox’s talents in development once again, having already used them for Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Shattered Dimensions.

In the build-up to today’s release of Spider-Man: Edge of Time, we have been providing our readers with details about the game including screenshots and an announcement trailer that teased some of the exciting gameplay. Today we have provided a launch trailer that marks today’s release, which you can view below.

The game has not had the best reviews so far, some reports describing it as sloppy and rushed. In light of the news of the new movie tie-in game, it could be that the reason it was so poor is because the developers needed to get the time in for the release of next year’s game, likely to be launched the same time as the movie which hits the big screen July. That’s just 9 months away.

Now it appears that the publisher wants to tease fans a little more, by unveiling a few screenshots and a teaser trailer for the upcoming game.

As Brett Molina over on the usatoday.com website recently reported, the Spider-Man: Edge of Time game will be released sometime in the fall and will be available for a number of platforms including the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as the Nintendo 3DS, Wii and DS.

The teaser trailer may not be very long, but it definitely looks pretty awesome in our opinion. As we previously mentioned, the Spider-Man: Edge of Time game – which is in development with Beenox – will concentrate on two separate variations of the superhero: Spider-Man 2099 and Amazing Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time’s story, which is written by Peter David, sees the superheroes working together to prevent the untimely death of Peter Parker. All we knew at that stage was the fact that the upcoming title would involve both Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 in a connected timeline.

Although there was little information given at that point, Activision promised that more details would be revealed during the WonderCon 2011 event. Well according to Valay over on the nintendoeverything.com website, Activision has delivered on their said promise and revealed a little more information.

For example, Chris Barnes will be the voice of Spider-Man 2099 in the Spider-Man: Edge of Time game, while Josh Keaton will be voicing the Amazing Spider-Man character. The game – which is due to be released sometime this fall – will contain cause/effect gameplay and feature elements from Shattered Dimensions.

However, the Edge of Time game is not a sequel to the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions title. The story in the Edge of Time game, which sees an evil scientist from 2099 traveling back in time in the hope of destroying Spider-Man, is said to be very character driven.
