Just when you thought normality was returning to Sony and their organisation following on from the initial wave of attacks, it has been suggested that another attack on the company could be about to happen.

Once again, it looks as if hacking group Lulzsec are planning the operation, as they make no secret of their next move, so much to suggest to Sony, ”We’re about to hack you again, what can you do about it’?’

Just take a look at the following Tweet made a short while ago on their Twitter page:

”Recap of the last 24 hours: NHS assisted, Jihad site taken down, Pron.com owned, Endgames + Prolexic shone upon brightly. Tomorrow… @Sony”

To remind you, this is the same group that warned that they were going after Sony a few weeks ago, and delivered by revealing sensitive information from the Sony music website, not to mention hurting Sony Music from a financial perspective by publishing vouchers and redeem codes.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether they will be targeting the PlayStation Network, or another division of Sony, but we’re sure we’ll find out over the weekend what happens. If you have experienced the Sony downtime on the PlayStation Network, let us know what you think of their latest tweet – do you think it will ever stop?

PSN users are almost at peace with Sony once again, after the company finally released the Welcome Back Package for users in Europe and North America. However, due to overwhelming strain on the PSN servers, most of you are having problems getting the stuff.

This isn’t a major problem though, as you can imagine that millions and millions of PS3 users are all logging on to the Store at the same time to get their free stuff, so problems are bound to arise.

So far, the problems we see are constant error messages, either when clicking on a particular section of the Store, or when waiting for content to load up after you’ve pressed it. Error codes include ”80710D36” and messages such as ‘content cannot be loaded at the time’.

Sony has already updated their message on the PS Blog to state that the error messages are due to heavy traffic. Just keep trying and eventually you should be able to navigate through the store as normal. You also may be experiencing extremely long download times when you manage to get to that stage of the Welcome Pack. Our inFAMOUS download required a 1000+ minute plus download the last time we looked at it – is yours quicker?

On a side note, there still doesn’t appear to be any official word from Sony for those of you who are still having problems changing PSN passwords via Sony’s email. Click here to read our previous report on that.

How is the PlayStation Network for you at the moment? Are you getting constant error messages all the time, or are you able to download your free games with no problems?

We finally have an update for you now, for when Sony intends to switch the PlayStation Store back online for PS3 users around the world. A new press release issued by the company states that full functionality of the PlayStation Network will be resumed soon, but not for all regions still.

According to their release, Sony has now confirmed that the new deadline for switching everything back online is the ‘end of this week’. Below is the key portion of their detailed press release, which you can read in full over at GamingEverything:

”May 31, 2011 – Sony Corporation and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced today that Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI, the company) will fully restore all PlayStation®Network services in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea by the end of this week.”

What will be restored exactly you ask? Well it includes the PlayStation Store and the ability to redeem vouchers and codes, Sony’s Qriocity music service and of course online gaming via the PSN for those who have still been unable to get online.

As you can see in their statement above though, this still doesn’t apply to our readers in Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea as it looks like the downtime may continue a bit longer for you. We’ll be talking about this specifically a bit later on for all those that are concerned.

So there we have it, the PlayStation Store will be back online in Europe and the US before the end of the week. Let us know your thoughts on this new update, and what your first activity on the PlayStation Store will be.

As we informed you at the end of the last week, it continues to be a frustrating time for PlayStation 3 owners in Hong Kong and other Asia countries, as despite the fact that some PSN services have resumed in the UK, the US and also Japan – it remains offline for Hong Kong gamers.

Although we don’t have the good news that you’re waiting to hear yet, we do have an update for you from Sony directly. We asked their Hong Kong PlayStation division when the PlayStation Network would be back online, and we received a response from Benny Garcia from their Customer Communications and Relations Department:

”Please be informed that we are making necessary preparations as well as in discussions with concerned authorities. We will inform you as soon as services can be resumed. We expect to have the services fully restored by the end of May 2011.”

As you can see, it means that there’s a good chance that gamers in Hong Kong will be able to play online again by Wednesday, if their ‘end of May’ prediction is accurate. Also, it appears as if government fears are once again stepping in the way of Sony re-activating services, just like what happened with Japan’s government blocking Sony from switching PSN on at the same time as the US and Europe.

On a side note, we’re hearing that gamers from South Korea are also unable to access the PlayStation Network too, so hopefully the statement above applies to you as well. If we get a response back from Sony today, we’ll let you know what they say.

If you still can’t access the PlayStation Network in your area, get in touch with us below.

While PS3 owners in the US, UK and other parts of Europe are enjoying being able to play online games again, the same cannot be said for everyone in Asia. The PlayStation Network has remained offline since the outage first occured in April, but we have some good news for you at last.

A fresh report today from Japanese publication Famitsu has revealed that Sony intends to switch the PlayStation Network back online for Japan and a small list of other Asian countries on Saturday May 27th. These are Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, as reported from VG247.

As you can see though, Hong Kong is mysteriously absent from the list, and we’re not sure why. We’re hoping that this has been a mistake by Sony and they will also be included on the initial PSN restoration for Asia, because if not, gamers in Hong Kong are going to feel a little hard done by for sure.

In case you didn’t know, Sony didn’t bring the PSN online for Japan at the same time as Europe and US due to fears from the Japanese government that the network was not 100% protected from hackers. Thankfully though, it now looks like that has been settled and Japanese gamers can look forward to online gaming again over the weekend.

We’ll try and clear up the confusion regarding PSN services for Hong Kong gamers asap. If you are a PSN owner in Asia reading this, let us know your thoughts on the outage.

It may be Friday and many of you may be thinking it’s time to go out and party soon, but for everyone else – only one question remains to be asked, ‘When is the PlayStation network and all of it’s related services going to be online again, globally?”

Before you say it, we understand that the PlayStation Network is already available to PS3 gamers in the UK, and US and most other parts of the world, but it’s not back up everywhere. PSN remains offline in places like Japan and Hong Kong, so it still is a very frustrating time for some gamers.

Having said that, the PlayStation Store still remains offline for EVERYONE, with Sony no closer to informing the community when it will be back online – much to our distress. This is particularly disappointing since the weekend is coming up, and it’s usually the perfect time for many to catch up on some lost gaming. The PlayStation Store is a very important part of that as some users need it to access game content, and in some cases games are rendered useless until the PS Store comes back online – Dirt 3 for example.

So in case the PlayStation Network does go offline again where ever you may happen to be, you can download a handy app on your iPhone for free which will give you an instant heads up on if the PSN is offline or online. The app is simply called ‘PSN Status’ and you can find it on the App Store now. Try it out now and give us your thoughts on the downtime.

Yesterday we assumed that the PlayStation Network status had changed from down to up in Japan, but it now seems is if those rumors were false. It has been two weeks now, and Sony had either get PSN up, or offer something to try and lure in new customers. The only way they can do this is with a PS3 price drop.

This does not help the millions of users who already have a PlayStation 3 and are signed up to PSN, but Sony believes that they have done enough to keep them happy. Having said that, they need to have the service up either today or tomorrow if they have any hope of maintaining their loyalty. However, news that 25 million more users have been hacked will make things a little more difficult.

Currently there are more PSN users still prepared to stick with the PS3, but some have already jumped ship and changed over to the Xbox 360 – something that Microsoft will love. Sony needs an influx of fresh users, so reducing the price of the console has to be the only way to do this.

However, we have recently learned that Toys R US are selling a 160GB version for $299, with this you will receive a PSN Card and a $50 bonus. We wonder if we will see more offers like this, this could be the first of many? How much longer do you think you can wait for PSN to go live?

It’s a very sad time for PS3 owners at the moment, because at the time of writing, we can confirm that the PlayStation Network is STILL down for maintenance, bringing the total downtime into a fifth day believe it or not. Hacking group Anonymous have now come out and stated that they are not responsible for this attack, but do you believe them?

Just to give you a refresh, Anonymous originally targeted the PS3 as part of their initial attacks against Sony for their treatment of a certain infamous hacker, but they have just come out recently, posting a new video saying that they are not behind this latest attack.

We’ve included the video for you below, but what we more interested about, is whether they are telling the truth or not. Don’t forget that Anonymous is made up of a group of individual users, with no direct leader so this could have still been carried out by a few angry members, with or without the consent of the group’s leader.

Sony has already admitted that the downtime is due to the PlayStation Network suffering an attack, so it’s clear that someone is responsible. If Anon are not responsible for this, then who is? Our guesses is that these people may still be connected to Anonymous and that the attacks happened were similar to the ones that Anon first launched a few weeks ago.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Anon are still behind this or not?
