One feature that keeps getting a mention is for a YouTube app, the reason why is because the browser experience is horrible, as well as the fact that they are only shown in 240p – it’s like we have gone back in time with that quality.

Speaking of the browser, it seems as though the use of Google Chrome is a popular one, and you can see why, as they have now taken the second spot from Firefox. We have not heard this one for a while, but one reader would like to see Region-free DVD support. One reason for this is being able to view more content from other countries.

In game XMB needs to not only be improved but also offer the ability for customization. The in game menu has always been a little on the slow side, so the PlayStation 3 update 4.0 needs to be able to speed things up a little. More often than not we create a PSN ID that was fun at the time, but after some time makes you wonder what on earth you were thinking, so being able to change this would be a bonus?

One feature that a few PS3 owners would like to see is a sort of nod to the Xbox 360, being able to install a game while it is downloading. This will speed up the entire process, although we don not know if such a thing is possible with Sony’s games console?

These are just a few of the most popular features wanted for firmware update 4.0, but there are 61 and counting so far, which you can read them in full here.

Tease of Sony PS3 v3.70 firmware update http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/30/tease-of-sony-ps3-v3-70-firmware-update/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/30/tease-of-sony-ps3-v3-70-firmware-update/#comments Mon, 30 May 2011 12:41:55 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=132475 The recent article that we wrote concerning the official PS3 headset was seen as a Tease of Sony PS3 v3.70 firmware update. We did not notice before, but upon further investigation it seems that in order for the surround sound to work you will need to be running software version 3.70. Now forgive us if we are wrong, but does that not mean that an update is imminent?

As yet we do not know what new features the update will bring, but we can be sure that there will not only be that surround support, but also bug fixes and extra security measures. Other than that we are totally in the dark in other features along with an official release date.

One thing we do know, this will be a bigger firmware update then some of the most recent, as Sony has not stuck with the .01 updates and gone direct to the next big number. We might have to wait until September for PlayStation firmware update 3.70, as this is when the headset is due to be released; at least this gives Sony time to make this a more fulfilling update.

With E3 2011 just around the corner one would assume that Sony would mention this very subject, along with a number of new game titles that will compete with the Xbox 360. Oh, and just maybe the chance of a PS4 mention.

Could the next Sony PS3 firmware update be version 3.70, if so what are your expectations?

Sony PS3 Update 3.21: Linux Support Removed http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/03/29/sony-ps3-update-3-21-linux-support-removed/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/03/29/sony-ps3-update-3-21-linux-support-removed/#comments Mon, 29 Mar 2010 09:34:26 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=96592 The upcoming Sony PS3 3.21 firmware update is causing a bit of a stir, as there are plans for Linux support to be removed. Those with a new PlayStation 3 Slim have never had the option to install the Linux OS so will not miss anything.

Sony said that the firmware update due to go live on April 1 has been developed to try and combat potential software piracy. This means that not having the Install OS feature will help to provide a more stable system – something that all gamers want.

It is not just Linux that will be the only feature missing from Sony PS3 Update 3.21, more on this can be found at IGN. Do not worry, Sony are to offer a number of new features, so this update is all about – out with the old and in with the new.

Do you think that the removal of Linux will be a major problem, or is it something that will not be missed?
