We have some pretty exciting news for all you Gundam fans out there right now, as we’ve just received word that some brand new screens and a new trailer for Namco Bandai’s upcoming Gundam Memories: Memories of Battle (Tatakai no Kioku) game has recently emerged.

According to a recent article by Heath Hindman over on the playstationlifestyle.net website, the forthcoming PSP space combat action game will feature two different gameplay types: Mission Mode and Situation Mode, which are both shown on the new trailer.

The newly released trailer shows the player switching between three suits during battle, with each suit being best equipped for a certain combat type. The first is one that is best for staying long range and throwing projectiles. The next is best for walking up and smashing things.

Then there is a ‘Speed Type’ one, which serves as the less powerful but much faster machine. It also shows each suit performing special moves known as ‘Special Trigger’ attacks that only become available once a gauge at the bottom of the screen becomes full.

The Gundam Memories: memories of Battle game is due to be released on June 23rd in Japan. Unfortunately there is no date for a release in any other territories. We’ll keep you posted if we hear any more information. You can view the screenshots via playstationlifestyle.net. Are you a Gundam fan?

If you live in the UK or Europe, you own a PlayStation Portable and you enjoy playing action role-playing games, then we may have some interesting news for you. Zen United and PQube have just announced that the Gladiator Begins game will be available on the PSP in both Europe and the UK sometime in May.

As recently noted over on the mcvuk.com website, the Gladiator Begins game – which was created by Tenchu and Way of the Samurai developer Acquire – combines the bloody violence of Gladiatorial combat with the customization options of a role playing game.

Players will be able to take their characters from a humble slave to a skilled Gladiator, by fighting for gold and skill points that enable them to develop their character’s abilities. As the player’s fame begins to rise, different story paths will be opened for different characters, giving the game added replayability.

The Gladiator Begins game allows its players to choose their own fighting style, and then exploit the innovative fighting system that enables them to target specific armor or body parts in order to disarm their opponents. Free DLC will be available from the PlayStation Network, including new characters and weapons.

Are you a big fan of action-RPGs? If so, can you see yourself playing the Gladiator Begins game?

The Persona 3 Portable game – a remake of the 2006 PlayStation 2 title Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 – may not have been released in Europe as of yet, but it definitely looks like it’s going to be worth the wait when it does finally arrive.

As Fred Dutton over on the eurogamer.net website recently reported, publisher Ghostlight has just announced that the game, which was launched in Japan back in November 2009 and the United States last year, will be receiving a special “Collector’s Edition” on launch.

According to the publisher’s website, the “Collector’s Edition” will provide gamers with six limited edition art cards, an A3 poster, an exclusive slipcase that features additional artwork, a special reversible “Collector’s Edition” inlay, a 48-page art book and of course, a copy of the game.

Those who pre-order the Persona 3 Portable game through the website (here) will receive the added bonus of an exclusive t-shirt. Although we haven’t got a specific European release date, we do know that the Atlus-developed game will arrive sometime in mid-late April.

Eurogamer’s Chris Schilling got a chance to review a US import of the Persona 3 Portable game last year, and gave it an impressive score of 9/10. Do you own a PlayStation Portable? If so, will you be buying a copy of the much-awaited game?

We recently brought you news that Sony was dropping the price of their PSP Go, from $200 to $150. Well it seems if you didn’t mange to get hold of one, for the new budgeted price then you’re too late as the prices have gone back to their original price.

When the news about the price drop was released, it wasn’t exactly broadcasted which made it a little suspect to begin with. Now it seems all evidence that the price ever got a reduction has disappeared altogether.

As Engadget reports the Sony website is now, just as quietly as before advertising the PSP Go in black and white for $199, the price it was before the drop.

The site believes however that the PSP Go will eventually get a reduction like it briefly had before. In the meantime the best option handheld gamers have is the PSP-3000, which is currently $130, cheaper than the PSP Go by $70.

Check out the official website for more information about the PSP products by clicking this Sony link. What do you think about the changing prices? Will the reductions be enough to tempt you into getting one of these devices or will you hold out for the Next Generation Portable? Let us know your thoughts.

Although the Patapon 3 game – which is exclusive to the PSP – was revealed during last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, a specific release date wasn’t. However, we now have an update on the rhythm-action game’s US release date, with reports of it arriving on April 12th.

According to a recent article by Mike Jackson over at computerandvideogames.com, the game will be released on UMD and on the PlayStation Network, for a price of $19.99. In the latest installment, the Patapon unlock a cursed treasure that unleashes an evil upon the world.

As a result, all the Patapon – apart from the flag bearer Hatapon – are turned into stone. It is then up to players to fuse their essence with a fallen soldier, in order to create the UltraHero Patapon. A new story trailer has also been released, which you can view below this post.

According to Rainier over on the worthplaying.com website recently reported, the new Patapon 3 game enables players to customize their Super Hero Patapon to their specifications and features a variety of missions, including co-op quests and a capture the flag multiplayer mode.

The upcoming game also includes a new Pata-Text chat system, which will enable you to chat with other Super Hero Patapons, and online co-op and competitive gameplay that allows up to 8 players. Are you a fan of the Patapon series? If so, will you be buying the third installment?

As you know we’ve been hearing quite a few rumors and speculation surrounding the upcoming Sony PSP2 in the past few months, including renders that were derived from some leaked PSP2 images. However, we may not have to wait much longer for the official details.

As Alan Ng previously noted in his article here, Sony has scheduled a special event for January 27th, which many believe will be used to announce the much-anticipated PlayStation Portable 2. That may not be the only device that Sony is intending on unveiling either.

As Leigh Alexander over at gamasutra.com recently reported, inside sources have claimed that the gaming-ready Sony Ericsson phone – which has been equally as hyped as the PSP2 – will also be unveiled during the said event (being held in Tokyo, Japan).

Although Sony hasn’t officially announced the PlayStation Portable 2 yet, we can still get an idea of what’s expected. A recent article over at 1up.com has provided a list of all what they know so far about the PSP2, although we still don’t know which rumors to believe.

For example, one developer described the PlayStation Portable 2’s screen as “like the iPhone 4’s retina display but better.” A previously leaked image of an alleged PSP2 development unit displays what looks like one solid touch pad on the rear of the device.

Another rumor that surfaced online claimed that the new system will no longer use UMDs like the original PSP did, but Flash-rom carts instead. You can read more about the PSP2 here. What do you think the specs and features will be when they announce it?

Back in November we revealed that Angry Birds would be coming to the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii following its huge success on the Android Market and App Store, now we can reveal that it will be hitting the PSP this week as one of the PSP mini titles.

Since the release of PS3 firmware update 3.15 gamers have been able to play the PSP minis on their PS3, however I wouldn’t be too surprised if we see a fully-fledged PS3 version released in the future, perhaps when an Xbox 360 version becomes available.

The PSP mini release consists of 63 levels, however it is thought that Rovio will push out similar add-on levels to what we have seen with the smartphone versions, at the moment we do not know how much Angry Birds for the PSP will cost, therefore we will have to keep you posted as we find out more.

With no touchscreen controls it will be interesting to see how enjoyable the Angry Birds experience is on the PSP, I’m sure it will be just as fun and easy to play and will pave the way for the Xbox 360 and Wii versions of the game.

Will you buy Angry Birds for the PSP?

Last month, we brought you images of a supposed Sony PSP 2 dev kit that found its way on the internet. Although the images were supposed to be an older kit, Sony has just filed a new patent application for a “two finger touch” handheld device.

The news comes from Akihabara News, who say that the patent application points to a forthcoming device which closely resembles that of the PSP 2, something that has been in the rumor mill for quite sometime.

Details are scarce, but the listed hardware configs include “slidably connected” halves, or a duel-sided device where the display is situated on the top side, and the touch screen resides on the back.

The purpose of the device is also left with question marks. The patent states that the device in question “may be configured for use as a game device, a phone, a portable media player, an email device, web browser device and the like.”

Regardless of what it is used for, the application comes from the gaming division of Sony directly, therefore we can only suggest that it will most definitely carry the PlayStation brand.

The Digital Comics Service is now live on the Sony PSP as of yesterday in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. The service was meant to go live in Ireland at the same time, but there was a technical issue that prevented this. However, the service should be up and running soon.

How cool is it that you can now chose from a huge collection of new and classic comics and then store them on your PlayStation Portable to take them wherever you go. You can be on the train, on a beach or just lazing around at home while reading your new collection.

There are a huge list of comics to choose from, such as Donald Duck, Fantastic Four, Mickey Mouse, Transformers, Spider-man, Star Trek, X-Men and many more. If these are not to your liking, then there is a huge selection of underground comics from local publishers.

Viewing these comics on your PSP is a dream thanks to AutoFlow. By pressing just one button, the comic will move frame-to-frame. You can even zoom in and out, making it easier to read. The new feature even allows you to listen to your music stored on your PSP while reading your favorite comic.

For more information on this new Digital Comics service for your PSP, head over to playstationcomics.com. While there you can then check out their full catalogue of comics.
