Sony PSP 4.05 Firmware and XMB Support

The Sony PSP 4.05 firmware update will be coming any day now and we have been informed by Sony’s blog to expect new visualizers for music playback.
Many Playstation Portable gamers got excited when they said “and other features”, while this could mean a million things, some gamers are hoping for one of the features that the PS3 received in the last update.
The PS3’s XrossMediaBar has opened the doors for many more features to be expanded on that technology, PSP owners are hoping for in-game access to the cross media bar just like the PS3 now has.
While you cannot change every setting with XMB while playing a game, but you still get quick one click access to other options without having to leave the game and then select them.
The Sony PSP and PS3 have always been closely linked, so it seems natural that the PSP will get this feature soon and most likely in this next 4.05 update.
What other features would you like to see in PSP firmware 4.05? We would like improved Internet radio and the flash plug-ins for the web browser updated. We will update you when PSP 4.05 Firmware has been released.
Will the Sony PSP be cut? Not many new games

The world of gaming is always full of rumors; one such rumor is to do with the Sony PSP. Many believe that Sony could drop the PlayStation Portable; this has angered many PSP fans. Last year saw the launch of the newer PSP Slim, and it seemed that this once great gadget had a bit of a renaissance, as well as having some great new titles to play on the PSP.
This year though is a different story altogether, it seems as if Sony are a bit reluctant to launch as many new games as they used too, many gamers see this as a sign that the Playstation Portable is about to be cut. However Sony Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller has been speaking to IGN, where he strongly denied that the PSP was toast.
He went on and explained to IGN that the PSP is a high-growth business for Sony; he also said that the product is highly demanded. Koller also said that the PSP is red hot, but the thing that was slowing things down for them was from publishers. It seems as if publishers were having trouble publishing for the PSP, many of them do not know who is purchasing the handheld and who owns them.
To ease people’s minds, it looks as if the Sony PSP is here to stay, Koller mentioned that there are a number of new games coming up, some of which the publishers have not yet mentioned. It seems that the future is bright for PSP owners.
What’s happening with Sony PSP firmware update 4.01?

Just last week Sony released the PSP firmware 4.00 update, and right away Sony were talking up their next update 4.01. Many people will be wondering what is happening with the new 4.01 update, well we can tell you that the software update in now available via the Japanese PlayStation site and should hopefully be available to the Sony Playstation blog in the next few hours. The news of this update has sparked rumors that the Sony PS3 2.40 update will also launch today, whenever you have a PSP firmware update, the PS3 update is never far behind.
The new firmware release 4.01 only features some minor updates, the display of search results under the new Google Search for some languages has been improved, as well as playback of video content for certain file types seeing a minor improvement.
It seems that Sony PSP firmware update 4.01 is getting some mixed reactions; ok they are happy that this new update has only taken a week since the previous, but this update does not go far enough. Many people would like to see another update where they will get the chance to connect to the PlayStation network from their PSP’s. What they mean is being able to send/receive messages from the PSP.
We mentioned that this new firmware will have improved playback of video content for certain file types, but many people have been posting on the PlayStation Blog as to what those improvements will be. Hey just realized something else, this new update will feature in game xmb to the psp, is this something that is important to us all though.
Crysis developer Crytek leaving PC for Sony PSP: developer’s wanted

When it comes to games with some of the most advanced graphics, Crytek is one of the best developers around. They have only ever developed games for the PC and Crytek who developed Crysis certainly know how to push your PC’s hardware to the limits. However; it now seems as if Crytek will no longer offer exclusives for PC’s, they are now looking to develop games for the Sony PSP.
The reason why we presume this is the fact that Crytek have posted a job position on their website, they are hoping to fill a vacancy for a PSP programmer. The successful applicant needs to have multiplatform experience and will have to work at their Budapest office. Many believe that the new Crysis Warhead will be heading to the Sony PlayStation Portable.
Nothing is certain yet, Crytek might be working on some new titles for the Sony PSP, but the good money is on the developer using their CryEngine technology and then squeezing it down so that it will work with the Sony handheld.
Let us hope that Crytek does try and bring Crysis over to the Sony PSP, the handheld does have a few great titles but having a huge title like that would be great for both Sony and Crytek. However; it is very early days, by the time the new PSP programmer comes up with something there might just be a newer PSP on the market.
So what other great titles would you like to see come over to the Sony PSP

Is this the biggest Sony PSP Battery ever?

I have seen some pointless products in my time, but this Sony PSP battery takes the piss. Look at the size of it, it is huge. This has to be the biggest battery for the Sony PSP I have ever seen.
I just do not understand why someone would want to make a battery so large, that you can’t even put the battery cover back on. I would think that the battery would weigh the Sony PSP down on one side.
Is this Sony PSP Battery useless or what?

God of War has been a very successful game on the console, and now it is about to make the jump onto the Sony PSP. Will the game be able to make that jump from the console to the PlayStation Portable is a question that many gamers have asked, and looking at this video trailer I think that it has done a very good job.
Many games that make that jump from a console to a portable do a bad job, you just have to look at Assassin’s Creed. However God of War truly looks superb, why can’t many other games make the transition like GoW has.
