For those of you who are interested in the gaming market on popular smartphones such as the iPhone and Android-based handsets, you may be interested in a game called Dungeon Defenders: First Wave that uses the Unreal Engine 3, the first of its kind.

iOS has long been the smartphone OS of choice when it comes to games. Rage HD and Infinity Blade are two very top games for the iPhone, but Android have proved that they are not far behind, especially with ‘Zeus’ aka the PlayStation Phone / PSP Phone / Sony Ericsson Z1 making an appearance earlier this month.

Of course, we are not here to talk about that and want to point out that Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is the first Unreal Engine-3 based title, and will be available to all Android 2.1 handsets that can take the minimum requirements.

For this game to work, you will need an 800MHz or better SOC with support for OpenGL ES 2.0, 512MB of RAM, and at least 400MB of free storage. You can read the full press release by checking out the article on Engadget. There is also a video for you to watch below.

We have some pretty important news for those of you who are definitely looking to pick up the Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone next year, as a benchmark video has been captured, but the results are far from overwhelming.

Engadget has been sent a new high quality video of the device by an unnamed source, and it shows the PlayStation Phone running some benchmark software called NeoCore, an application provided by Qualcomm.

While the video itself isn’t anything special, the ending result is what is important here, as the ‘Zeus Z1′ device was shown to be running at 24.4 FPS – which you would agree is hardly amazing, compared to other smartphones on the market. This is a PlayStation gaming device right?

Engadget calm worries by reminding us that this is still a prototype model of the PS Phone, and the software itself is probably not at it’s final version, but what are your thoughts on this?

Would you still get the PlayStation phone even if it could only run at 30fps max? The Nexus S performs at over 50fps according to Engadget, and it has also been confirmed via this video, that the upcoming HTC Merge performs pretty well too, higher than 24.4FPS anyway.

Is this a concern for you, or are you more interested in seeing tests on final hardware, rather than a prototype model? We’ll let you know when we have more information for you regarding this.

We have some more news on the upcoming Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone to share with you now, as it has been reported that the first video of the device has been uploaded onto YouTube.

Unfortunately, you can’t really make out if it is actually the PS Phone in the video, and we don’t even see the slide-out gaming controls either.

However, this report over at BGR seems to think that this is indeed the PlayStation Phone that we’re looking at, and they have also included a few more details which have apparently come from the person responsible for taking the video.

The phone is still being named the ‘Zeus’, but it could come to market as the Sony Ericsson Z1, as seen in the video description. We’re also hearing that the device will come with an 8 megapixel camera, touch-sensitive controls on the slider, a 4-inch touchscreen, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, PlayStation ‘themed’ live wallpapers and some sort of unique store to download games – surely the PS Store no?

BGR also think that an official announcement isn’t too far away, so hopefully they are right about that. Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts on it.
