Consumers now have a rich variety of handsets to tempt them with many impressive models now available. Today we have an article comparing the HTC Sensation vs the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo.

Paul Briden over at Know Your Mobile has written an article comparing the two handsets. The Sensation is the bigger of the two and slightly heavier, but does come out best for thickness. Like most HTC handsets the Sensation is instantly recognized as an HTC device. It is a nice long and thin handset which has been the norm of late.

While the Neo is going in the opposite direction by being much more compact of the two. Display wise the Sony has a 3.7-inch LED backlit LCD, while the Sensation has a Sony made 4.3-inch S-LCD. The display on the HTC is not only larger, but also has a higher resolution.

A lot of the new smartphones coming to market lately are getting dual-core processors, and the HTC is no different. The Xperia Neo on the other hand has a single core 1 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor. Both handsets will run the Android Gingerbread operating system.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is a pretty good handset, but Sony hasn’t future proved it enough. This time last year it would have been one of the best handsets available, but in today’s market it is not as good as the HTC.

Which handset do you prefer?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo: UK Suffers Release Date Delay http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/08/sony-ericsson-xperia-neo-uk-suffers-release-date-delay/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/08/sony-ericsson-xperia-neo-uk-suffers-release-date-delay/#comments Fri, 08 Apr 2011 20:38:04 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=127737 A few days ago we announced that the much-awaited Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo smartphone – which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread – would be released on April 19th in the UK. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case now, as the UK release date has unfortunately suffered a delay.

According to a recent article over on the blog.clove.co.uk website, Sony Ericsson has now confirmed that the Xperia Neo will not be arriving in the UK until sometime in July. The delay is due to a disruption in the supply chain resulting from the devastating events in Japan last month.

Sony Ericsson stated that although they are currently working on finding an alternative supply solution, July is the earliest date that they can give for release at this stage. The company said they have taken this action to improve the supply rather than launching the device with low stock.

It isn’t just the Xperia Neo that has been affected by the supply issue either. Sony Ericsson said that both the Xperia Play and Arc will also be affected and stock will no doubt be in very short supply over the next few weeks. We’ll keep you updated if we hear news of another launch date.

Were you hoping to pick up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo on April 19th?

Sony Ericsson’s Multitouch Issues With Xperia Neo http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/14/sony-ericssons-multitouch-issues-with-xperia-neo/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/14/sony-ericssons-multitouch-issues-with-xperia-neo/#comments Mon, 14 Feb 2011 15:43:07 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=121871 It was only a few days ago that we reported a few issues with the custom UI on the Xperia Neo, so you can imagine how concerned we are to learn that there are also issues with the multitouch on the Sony Ericsson Android handset. You would have thought that the phone maker would have ironed out these problems before showing up with these new devices at MWC 2011?

The Neo has been designed for those who are unable to afford the Arc – so a little like the rumored iPhone Nano then? Having said that, you would still expect Sony Ericsson to have a smartphone that is smooth with its multitouch, not laggy like Engadget suggests, which you can see for yourself in the video below.

Looking on the video we are told that Android 2.3 will be running the show, it was after that explanation that we got to see just how laggy that multitouch is; it was like I was watching the LG Viewty all over again – painful memories. Just take a look and you will see just what we mean.

The second video that we have for you is a little bias, as this is from Sony Ericsson at Mobile World Congress. They begin by talking about the beautiful design, and we cannot deny that fact. We could not help but get a little excited by HD Connect, which allows you to connect your Neo to your HD TV, this will be perfect when viewing pictures and videos that were recorded on the new smartphone.

What we did notice was how they did not show you its multitouch capabilities; did they already know the issue or did they much rather look at some of the more important features?
