NetBlender’s latest innovation is BD Touch and this software will allow you to transfer copies of a Sony Blu-ray movie to your Apple iPhone /iPod Touch. The software will give your phone/iPod BD-Live net connection features; you could view fan content in sync with a movie or use the iPhone as a remote.
Imagine having multi-touch, a predictive keyboard, goelocation and 3D motion sensitivity all part of your Blu-ray movie. Watch the two video’s below to understand a lot more about BD Touch.

Sony Blu-ray sales increasing thanks to blockbuster movies

It looks like the sales of Sony Blu-ray discs are increasing and this is in part thanks to more blockbuster movies being released, but lets face it who would want to buy expensive old movies just because they are in Blu-ray. HMR Research has new data which shows 3 million Blu-rays have been sold in the first 11 weeks of 2008 compared to 9 million movies for all of 2007, this means we could be looking at 15 million Blu-ray movies sold in 2008.
Recent blockbusters like “No Country for Old Men” sold 68,000 Blu-ray copies in one week and “Juno” is coming to Blu-ray on April 15th and could be massive as well. With HD-DVD dead it looks like it’s all up from here.

First BD-Live Sony Blu-ray’s: The 6th Day & Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story

The first two BD-Live titles are being released from Sony and while I could think of many other Blu-ray movies I like more, the fact is the first two will be Arnold Schwarzenegger’s sci-fi thriller The 6th Day and musical Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.
The US release date will be April 8th, this fits just fine with the Sony PS3 2.20 firmware launch and gives millions of Playstation 3 owners the ability to use Profile 2.0 (internet connectivity and Blu-ray).
Although HD DVD lost, it did offer picture-in-picture and Internet connectivity while Blu-ray did not offer these with Profile 1.0. Now those owners of Profile 1.0 Blu-ray players may not be able to use these new features in Profile 2.0 without buying a new player. (Unless you own a PS3 that is).
What would your choice of been for the first two BD-Live Blu-ray discs?

Philips UK BDP7200 Blu-ray player in 7 months: only 1.1 profile, Sony PS3 better
March 21, 2008 by Daniel

Philips new Blu-ray player (the BDP7200) will be coming to the UK in 7 months, sadly this player will only have a Blu-ray 1.1 profile and Philips are not sure if the BDP7200 will have an Ethernet port to update to the BD-Live 2.0 profile.
We are also hearing that the Blu-ray Disc Association should be enforcing all new players to be profile 2.0 compliant around October time…this makes the Philips BDP7200 look a bad choice.
The best choice still for me is the Sony PS3, not only is it for gaming but it will get a firmware update (v2.20) to include BD-Live interactive this month.
Do you feel the Playstation 3 is the best value for money Blu-ray player?

The Most Successful: Toshiba HD DVD or Betamax
February 19, 2008 by Daniel

Toshiba’s HD DVD was launched in 2006 and early 2008 they have said they will stop making HD DVD’s and the players, that’s a defeat in less than 2 years, which shows Sony’s Blu-ray crushed HD DVD. Although Sony’s other format (Betamax) got beaten in the last format war between VHS and Betamax, although I would say Betamax was much more successful compared to HD DVD.
HD DVD lasted under two years before defeat, while Betamax launched 1975 and by 1980, it had 30% of the North American market and 25% of the UK market Read more
