According to an article by Darren Murph from engadget.com, many consumers appear to have mixed feelings about 3D technology.

One of the reasons why consumers may not be leaning towards a 3DTV purchase, is that they require 3D glasses, which as you know can be quite expensive. Another might be the hefty price tag of the set itself, with some 3DTVs costing thousands.

The Engadget article mentions a DisplaySearch report, which states that out of the entire flat screen televisions shipped this year, 3DTVs will only account for 2% of overall sales. Lack of 3D content at the moment, could be another reason for consumers being cautious.

It would be fair to say that when you purchase a new 3DTV, you should get at least two pairs of glasses as standard. What do you think is the right way for manufacturers to go, 3DTVs with or without glasses?

The Japanese consumer electronics maker has now admitted that they are working on 3D video cameras for the home user.

Once Sony have finished they will completely dominate 3D technology – especially when they offer a 3D firmware upgrade for the PS3. How cool will it be to know that you can create your own digital content, then you can view it on your new Sony 3DTV.

PC World explains that Sony is keeping the details of the consumer 3D camcorder secret, but it does show that this new technology is seen as the next big thing. The 3D camera will be the only thing missing in Sony’s lineup, so filling this gap in the market has been expected for some time now.

Panasonic and FujiFilm do not want Sony to have it their own way, the former is already working on their own version – while the latter already has the FinePix Real 3D W1 on sale. Sony will now have to play catch-up.
