If we were to go back a few years the sound that we got from or TVs was pretty decent, but this is not the case anymore. The reason for this is because of our constant need to have a thinner TV, and this means that there has to be sacrifices, and that is to the quality of the sound. It’s for this very reason why so many of us are choosing to purchase a soundbar in order to have a beautiful sound to match the visual quality.

You might be interested to know that Sonos has a new soundbar about to hit the market called the Playbar and is said to offer a truly immersive sound to your TV, although the company describe this an an understated soundbar. What gives this soundbar the edge over many other systems already on the market is the fact that this is completely wireless, allowing you to stream your music direct onto the device.

The soundbar has come a long way over the years and the Sonos Playbar takes things a step further, which may have something to do with the 9 speakers hiding away inside. Well we say hiding; they cannot wait to show you that they are there when you start listing to music tracks or movies. However, it’s not all about the hardware, as the software also plays a huge part in reproducing the amazing sound.

Engadget has already spent some time with the Sonos Playbar, and while we await their full review it’s clear to see that their initial impressions were very positive. The only downside is that you will only get a dollar change from $700 once it hits the market in March.

If, like us you have noticed the recent advertising campaign for Sonos, The Multi-Room Music system, we thought it would be a good idea to look at the Sonos wireless speakers and explain a little more about the products they have on offer. The Sonos Wi-Fi speaker system allows you to stream your music effortlessly and easily around the home to your chosen speaker set up. The range of speakers available includes a mighty sounding rich sub, immersive 3 & 5 driver mid range speakers through to a compact docking station. All units in the range fill any chosen room with a balanced and clear progressive sound.

Set up is extremely straightforward and the whole system connects through one unit known as a bridge, which connects to your own router. This creates the Wi-Fi zone that connects the enabled Sonos wireless speakers, and the music is controlled easily from your app enabled smartphone or tablet and can be operated from anywhere in the home. Everything you need is controlled from this one source and clever touches such as individual room volume control make the listening experience that much sweeter.

The great thing about the Sonos arrangement is that you are able to start with just the one speaker and can add and expand with more Sonos wireless speakers whenever you like, adding as many units as you desire. By creating a synchronized mesh network, multi users can connect and listen to their chosen music in different rooms around the house. The Sonos Speaker system has options including the Play 3/5, a Sub, The Connect and Connect Amp, and of course the Bridge Unit. The Bridge is also used to create a bigger wireless zone and extends the range of your existing network.

Set-up is uncomplicated; each individual speaker is connected to the Wi-Fi zone by simply pushing one button on the speaker, which automatically finds and connects to the network. The Connect allows you to add your existing Stereo, HiFi or Home Theatre and stream your CD and Vinyl LP collection too. Sonos currently sell a Dock separately that allows any iPod to join the network via a docking station, although the Sonos website states they are to discontinue sales of the Dock.

The Sonos Play 3 and 5 speakers feature internal digital amps that drive superior sound to all parts of any room and powers tweeters, mid range speakers, and a deep sounding woofer. The separate sub is the latest addition to the range and fills any room with deep, rich, heart stopping bass sound and compliments the Play range perfectly.

The Sonos Play 3 and 5 are available for $299 and $399 respectively, and the Sub retails at $699 and are all available in black or white. Sonos offer a 45 day return policy, meaning if for reason the system does not live up to your expectations you can return for a full refund, but with The Play 5 receiving an average positive rating of 92% from 1871 reviews on the Sonos site, we can’t see that you have a lot to worry about, although if you’ve owned any Sonos wireless speakers then leave a comment below with your thoughts.
